Rototeia

The wide crater lake of Motuteia, a bowl of deep blue with seemingly no bottom.
A wide volcanic caldera that makes up most of the remote island of Motuteia. Shaped like an oval or egg-shaped bowl, it suddenly drops into a seemingly bottomless trench at the center. At the very center of the lake stands Miroteia, a glittering spindle of obsidian glass, rising a mile high into the sky.   To the north, an archipelago of small, ftactured basalt outcrops and narrow straits link the caldera to the endless expanse of the Timerris Ocean.   The Teiaori settlement of Teiakainga sits on the northwest shore. Wooden piers and jetties jut out into the crystal blue waters along the shore's gentle curve.   Despite the wide and open stretch of saltwater, the surface remains as smooth as glass. Even the fiercest tropical storm will not cause as much as a ripple. The only disturbances come from the passing of Teiaori outriggers and the sharp dives of seabirds on the hunt for fish.
