History

The Church of Larost was founded by a the high priests of a temple of Larost early on in the Modern Era, 142 ME. He theorized that the Divine War would not have occured had it not been for the undue worship of gods with goals counter to those of humanity and organized civilization. Further, the most worthy of gods should be worshiped above all else so that they have the power necessary to root out evil before it becomes necessary to have an outright war between the gods. Along with a council of 6 other high priests, he composed a list of gods worthy of worship, and a trinity that was chief among them. They also created a list of tenets which members of the Church of Larost would be expected to follow.   The ideas of the Church of Larost caught on rapidly within the city of Primacy, and after a couple of generations, nearly everyone in the city and surrounding towns was a member. In 530 ME, the Heir to the throne of Primacy became the High Priest of the Church of Larost, and a few years later, in 537 ME, he took the Throne as well. Ever since then, the King or Queen of Larost has also been the High Priest of the Church. The court of the kingdom and the conclave of the church slowly mixed until they have become nearly one and the same. Most important roles within the religion are now also held by noble houses.
