Session 44: A Rock, An Eye, and a Rescue
General Summary
As the battle trudges onwards, our heroes made massive strides to save Jaysennia and destroy the Nexus!
SNTR-1 fried the worm with fire and it burst into a host of tiny, psychic-damage-dealing baby worms that were mostly just a distraction, and easily dealt with by SNTR-1 and the two sorcerers (and Leaf only got a little bit injured by Emelia's acid!). Leaf's wolves, though a bit ineffective when it came to putting down the single Ecclesiophyte that was in the Coast Guard's fracas, proved remarkably useful as party member carriers and meat shields.
Leaf himself set to the task of freeing Jaysennia from the Nexus before they completed the ritual, to make sure she was out of the AOE and could be healed. A remarkable combination of athleticism, good timing, and luck gave him yet another heroic milestone -- and this time Furn was there to see him rescue the Damsel in Distress.
It took a while for Emelia to convince herself that giving up her dragon eye focus, the item that triggered her latent draconic bloodline power, was the right thing to do. It didn't help that she was stunned into inaction for a round after failing the first time to complete the ritual. Eventually, though, through power of will, the dragon eye left her hands and stacked itself atop Leaf's sacrificed shield.
Calloway had a similarly frought (though signigicantly less prolonged) experience while sacrificing their ever-loyal Rock Friend. Seized at first by a rush of powerful nostalgia, the knowledge that they had real friends now gave them the strength they needed to give up their old coping mechanism.
With three of the offerings completed, Jaysennia freed, and the giant worm dealt with, SNTR-1's offering is set to be the final linchpin to the survival of the universe. Emelia is critically injured, but everyone else has been either lucky or very hard to hit. So, no pressure.
Unfortuntely, several allies experienced complications during this time. Khalog lost the greatsword he forged in Chelu-ka, Foggy lost an arm and will need a Restoration to prevent a spreading rot, Tea'suah is mired in entangling mycelial roots, and the Five Faces failed to make a dent in the tide of fungal minions. Only the Triton forces, conjuring tidal waves of moonmilk, gave any real aid to the battle, halting the debuffing effects of Ylymo-Aldon's spores.

TLDR:
The fight still continues! The worm is defeated, Jaysennia is freed from the Nexus, and 3/4 of the party have completed the ritual!Bookkeeping:
