Session 33: This Little Piggy Went All the Way to the Domain of Decay
General Summary
After collecting Khalog from The Lodge, the Coast Guard gave their final debrief to Captains Sultana and Caydense. With the Baron's guilt all but assured, the Captains gave the group one of a set of sending stones so they can keep in touch, and will have a contingency of the City Guard on standby to get Gate-d in if the need arises.
Much was said about the implications of breaking their Contract with the Baron -- particularly the exact meaning of the word "terminated". One could argue they have already broken some of the promises they originally made. The contract was found to have a faint abjuration aura, implying at the very least that it was protected from changes. Captain Sultana mentioned that he had previous experience with magically binding contracts, having broken one himself. He doubted that breaking it would actually kill them, but it might set them back significantly when it comes to their powers and training. He also thought the originator of the contract would have to be aware of the breach in order to enact the "termination", so Captain Gherd was assigned to watch the Baron and distract him if he became suspcious of the Coast Guard. A few loopholes were considered (e. g. could Klaus nullify the contract as a representative of the Iverfort Barony?) but ultimately the group didn't have time to experiment.
A few ideas about how to disrupt the Mycotic Nexus were discussed. Currently the most plausible is removing the Conduit (Jaysennia) and replacing her with someone or something from a plane other than the Material Plane. This could disrupt the balance of the machine which relies on the Conduit as a stabilizer of sorts. Calloway struggled with the implications of the destruction of Ylmyo-Aldon's demiplane on its Agarican inhabitants, and was not comforted by their allies.
The last night before returning to the Domain of Decay, some shopping was done. Several cloaks were exchanged. A gentlethem's agreement between Calloway and Emelia that doesn't count as an actual contract was struck and will totally be followed up on. For sure. Two pigs were bought (CHONK and Pearl of Power). One of them is definitely a singing pig. Probably. The DM will certainly not regret allowing this purchase.
Finally, after a night that only saw Calloway plagued by bad dreams (although they were especially bad for them), Khalog Plane Shifted the Coast Guard & Friends back into Agarica (thanks handy dandy free successful luck roll!). Leshui immediately started taking them to the Conduit's (Dominhall's) special sanctum.
