Session 25: How to Fireball Your Friends Without Really Trying
General Summary
After discussion of whether or not to head straight to the village, the party decided to lay a trap for their pursuers rather than potentially bringing them to cause havoc in town. They traced their steps back, found a suitable room, and were able to take a short rest before the flying creatures arrived with a creepy, many-legged, many-eyed, magic-using puffball. After springing a surprise attack on the creatures, the group was able to almost completely ignore the Alluring Thrum and toxic crystalline spores the creatures employed, and killed the three creatures without much fuss (although Calloway did end up speaking in bubbles). No one incurred any maximum hit point damage, either.
As the party settled for the night, Calloway began using their excess spell slots to heal said hit point damage... with various other effects, including hitting most of the party with a Fireball, inadvertently damaging the party significantly more than they had been during combat. Leaf tried out some different cantrips. Calloway spoke to their rock friend. SNTR-1 began work on a long-term project, making a spell-storing mace so he could be in melee more often. Emelia tested whether or not their boons would return if they washed off and then got re-dusted with spores (she found that they at least needed some time to re-establish whatever connection was being made).
Emelia also returned to her book:
Emelia: Well, I'm not a cop. How should I be monitoring my sleep schedule?
?: Labels are immaterial. Things will likely reach out to you in your sleep. If you’re clever, you may be able to act during that time also. Few creatures in Her land truly sleep… Although I assume by the time that has passed that you may have rested already. But I would like these communications to be of some use to you. Is there something you would like to know? I have a fairly strong grasp of Ylmyo-Aldon’s realm, though I have not traveled there in some time.
Emelia: (Firstly, we need to come up with a nickname for "Yvonne". 1- is the village safe & is there someone we should meet? 2 - what do you know about Jaysennia's situaiton?
