Session 22: "Flumphs" On A Plane
General Summary
The team engaged in their first combat in their new surroundings: two spider-like fungal creatures that seemed similar to Ettercaps and four Crawlers, which were recognized to be the same class of creature that was fought when the CG was searching for the fate of Knox Fontineaux. The "ettercaps" were seen to interface with the four orbs of light present in the cavern, and produced strong, sticky mycelium that restrained unlucky adenturers.
The brawl resolved with very little damage and effort on the part of the Coast Guard, although it would seem that news of their prescence was spread further by the "ettercaps" interfacing with the four glowing orbs in the room. They appear to be a signalling mechanism of some kind, though when SNTR-1 attempted to interface with it, he was blocked out of the system.
It was discovered that certain attributes, including whether or not a person has been Dusted with spores and (potentially/unconfirmed) whether or not they had taken Gutpunch, make the mushroom creatures interested or disinterested. Once aggressive action was taken, though, the creatures seemed not to have such qualms about fighting. Additonally, upon killing a creature, the person who struck the final blow had to make a CON save or suffer a permanent(?) negative to their maximum HP total.
Continuing forward, the group entered a new room with several "flumph"-like creatures that were antagonizing SNTR-1. After he killed one, the rest of the party convinced him to get dusted with spores, and the aggression ceased. The group decided to try and take a more active approach to finding Jaysennia. Leaf Wild Shaped into a direwolf to try and get a scent from the book, but the stench of rotting vegetation overpowered his nose. He did, however, notice something while searching for signs of Jaysennia -- a mote of light, or energy, or whatever it is that flows through the walls of this place, has been following them. There is something that seems to be following the team through the walls.
Emelia recieves a note from her pen pal.
Emelia decided also to check the book for messages, and was pleased(? dismayed? interested?) to find a reply that only she could read. A short conversation ensued:

?: Hello, Emelia. How are you faring?
Emelia: I'm fine. Who are you?
?: I'm on your side. I'm the reason you're here. Did you tell me the truth when I asked how you were?
Emelia: I just met a flumph so I think I'm telling the truth. Who are you?
?: (no answer)
