Prophecy

Inside the prison that claims and binds
A future must fall so the fallen can rise.
To lift the outcast from his mineral cage
Those who enter cannot return.
The poison of light1 will burn inside
An excavation of neck and stone,
an unearthing of iron veins
In one who shines,
yet does not die2.
They will wield the trinity of Chelor's might:
The force of will that spills from tongue and hand;
The sight that sees beyond what may be seen;
The endless vigil of unspeaking night.
The light from below1 will burn the wretched,
And a blanket of hot earth will entomb the disciple.
Resplendent power runs through through the veins of the innocent.
Their blood will pulse through earth
And branches and roots of hollow stone.
It will fall like Kren-sap nectar3,
And the cage will crumble.
The waters of his birth4 will rise to the sky,
The fraternity of opposites5 joined in strife.
We will not be chained by metal or rope,
But by a force that softly breaks us
With the calm serenity of the deep and dark.
The world ahead is a mirror of another realm.
As once the planes split, so shall the land.
There will be fear, and shadows and flame,
But there will as well be power and warmth and release.
Celestial devices6 will bring lightning to ground,
Flowing through veins and channels of rock
Until the poison light1 swallows all,
And the poison light becomes all.

Idioms & Local Knowledge

  1. "Poison of light" / "poisoned light" / "light from below"
These phrases all use the same root word in the Chelu-kaan dialect; piterna. It comes from the word "piter", which is the glowing mineral found in Lient'roc that is often used to create lamps safe for use underground. Piterna in common usage in Chelu-ka refers to the light that a piter lamp emits, a soft warm color.
  2. "... the one who glows / yet does not die"
This is a play on words. It also uses the "piter" root word when referring to glow.
  3. "... Kren-sap nectar"
Kren-sap is a Chelu-kaan liquor with invigorating properties. A bright yellow in color, a single shot of this herbaceous concoction can keep you awake for hours, even when you are extremely tired. Long-term usage can result in bitterness & anger issues.
  4. "... the waters of his birth"
This refers to Kraalo, the lake next to Chelu-ka where Kraa'thom and Chelor were born, according to legend.
  5. "... fraternity of opposites"
In the Chelu-kaan dialect, this phrase is simply "Kelnfroc". In literal terms, it refers to the individual differences among family members. It is often used when describing Kraa'thom and Chelor, two brothers who seem to have opposite alignments.
  6. "... his beautiful machinations"
Both brothers are said to have been inspired inventors, a trait shared by many of the Chelu-kaan.
