1.18.5: Shai'tan, Part 3
General Summary
The night after fighting with the Gricks, Cheni has another vision. At first, she wonders what brought this about, but as she reflects, she realizes her mistakes.
After awakening inside what seems like a forge, Chelor appears as a rapidly shifting being, changing from the elven forgemaster to the traditional vision to Chelor to a figure in dark robes with a gold mask over his face -- but in each form, his eyes are wide and gleaming with anger and a hint of madness.
He glares at you accusingly. Cheni responds, apologizing for her mistake and telling Chelor she realized it just as as she was summoned to speak with him.
Her words appear to calm him, and the mad gleam in his eye fades as he takes the form of the forgemaster.
Chelor intimates that his present form is being affected by outside forces, further warping the forms he can present himself as. Cheni realizes that this form of Chelor is not his full self, but rather a projection using the blade as a conduit. Cheni asks Chelor if the "continental outsiders" are working with the Chelorans or separately from them. Chelor is unable to differentiate "continental outsiders" from general ones, and tells her that the nature of the powers affecting him are shrouded to him. The conversation ends with Chelor reminding Cheni not to get hung up on her mistakes -- mistakes are necessary in order to learn, and as long she learns from them, she will not disappoint him, at least.

"I warned you not to profane this blade with improper blood. You dare to use it against creatures of my own domain, without taking even a second to wonder of their prescence so far from their home. Creatures who have known nothing but hunger. Creatures forced from my own protection only to be struck down by a blade forged in their own cradle swung by one who claims to be a champion of their realm."

"Blood is powerful. Be mindful and forget not from where this blade hails. Creatures who have known nothing but darkness serve neither your goals nor the goals of this artifact."Cheni is suddenly reminded of the fact that Chelor has spent ages trapped in a cage alone -- it is no wonder he may overreact.
