The Fools Chase

The Fools Chase is a Croak tradition that takes place as the last event in the annual summer games. The Fools Chase is a simple game played in a small walled in field where pairs of contestants in burlap sacks attempt to remove a trophy from a small pig. Upon signing up for the event contestants grouped into pairs and given a burlap sack, the contestants then have 15 minutes to modify their sack as they choose, the only constraint being that the sack must still be able to "contain" both participants. If the sack completely breaks and becomes incapable of "containing" the participants during the event that pair is eliminated. If a pair somehow exits the arena during the event they are eliminated. The first team to remove the trophy from the pig is the winner of the competition. Once a team is victorious they are hailed as champions of the event and given the trophy as well as each being gifted a fruit tree and a small garden plot on the land of the local Lord hosting the event and naturally they also given the first cut of the pig once they agree on how it is to be prepared. If all teams are eliminated the pig is considered the victor, toasts are made in its honor and it is considered the fools champion being given the fruit trees and garden plots set aside for the victors where it is taken care of and not eaten.   Contestants are encouraged to get creative in both the modifications to their bags and their approaches to capturing the pig. Overly modifying the bag for mobility may result in its destruction while chasing the pig or from being tripped up by other contestants. The teams are also encouraged to find unique ways to eliminate each other, this is usually done through finding ways to destroy overly modified bags. Some particularly strong or nimble contenders have also found ways to assist opponents in being disqualified by exiting the arena. Despite the rough nature of the sport serious injuries are rare with a round of drinks given to the team who suffered the worst injury, this applies only to physical injury, having serious injury to ones pride is expected.
