Tamaritt

Nestled deep with in Nor Woods sod deep that the density of the old growth canopy almost completely blot out the sun sits Tamaritt, an ancient city of unknow origin festooned with the crumbling remains of buildings who's purpose has long been forgotten. Though long past its former glory the city remains inhabited and if the current denizens are to be believed has never been completely abandons. Though obviously not the original builders or inhabitants of the city Tamaritt has since become home to a group of particularly inquisitive Ouphes. These diminutive wide eyed earless creatures don't recall exactly who originally build the decaying structure but are adamant that at some point near the end of Tamaritts original glory the location was "gifted" to them. The exact nature of this "gifting" is unclear and it is likely the Ouphes merely came in as squatters and outlasted the original inhabitants.   The indigenous Ouphes have since covered the various ruins and the lower branches of the imposing trees with their strange architecturally mismatched dwellings. The low light and encroaching forest would be claustrophobic and oppressive for most if not for the fact that the Ouphes dwelling in Tamaritt have lit the entire area with strange glowing fungus that fills the area with a soft glow turning the nature of the forest from intruding and oppressive into a warmer protective atmosphere almost like a person protect and stores a favorite toy from their childhood waiting to pass it on to the next generation when the time is right.   In addition to the glowing shelf fungus the Ouphes here also cultivate a species of glowing thumb sized grubs the Ouphes call Salsight (This roughly translates to little light, or little sun) . They use both of these endemic species as food sources as well as light sources particularly colorful or uniquely patterned grubs are often kept as pet and can grow to the length of an arm. These large grubs are not eaten as they become quite bitter after achieving a certain size and age. If kept as pets it is unusual for these grubs to ever metamorphize into there adult form and they remain valued members of the family.   Visitors to Tamaritt are rare as the city is both difficult to reach, has not strategic value, and very little trade potential. Those that do visit however are greeted with and exuberant brand of hospitality found nowhere else. Upon arrival travelers are immediately offered gifts of food and drink , usually some form of the previously mentioned grubs and fungus. Then they are provided with lodging, because Tamaritt has no inn this is offered by a local family. It is considered a great honor to have an outsider stay in ones home and travelers can expect to receive a wild assortment of odd gifts and trinkets for the family housing them.
