Survivor's Knife

The Survivor's Knife is a basic multipurpose well made hunting knife with no outstanding features. While it appears to be just a normal knife if used to skin and dress game of any kind the user will quickly discover that it makes the job mush easier and more efficient, almost as if their hand is guided, all the cuts will turn out perfectly with no waste. This aspect of the knife only works for unprepared meat, not meat that has already been processed. The knife also renders any meat safe to eat cutting around spoilage and removing dangerous parasites. These properties make the knife ideal for hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring. However should the wielder of the blade begin to starve a more sinister aspect of the blade manifests. The blade begins to reach out to the users subconscious reminding them that any companions they have are really just meat in the end. If the wielder of the knife has more than one companion it focuses the users attention to any that are injured or that the user perceives as less likely to survive. As starvation progresses these thoughts become more pervasive and the owner may find their hand wandering towards the knife more than usual. It's important to note that the knife merely heightens these thoughts and is incapable of forcing someone to act against their will. If someone falls victim to the cannibalistic lure of the knife it functions just as well as it did on any other creature making the job easier and faster to finish. This aid provided to the user often helps them come to terms with what they have done as by making the sectioning and dressing faster less time is spent focusing on what the user is doing and the implications there in. If the owner gets into a similar survival situation without companions the knife begins to encourage acts of self-cannibalism. If these thoughts are acted upon the knife will function as normal causing as little damage to the user as possible while maintaining its efficiency.
