Stream Claw

Stream Claws are hunch emaciated looking creatures with long slender arms ending in viscously hooked claws. These nocturnal creatures can be found around isolated fast flowing creeks and rivers standing stock still staring down into the water with large reflective milky eyes waiting for a fish or other meal to pass within reach. Once such a meal passes near them they lash out impossibly fast and snatch it from the water with their hook clawed hands holding onto the prey before dispatching and consuming it. Despite the savagery and speed of their attacks they are fastidious eaters and often save small pieces of previous meals to use as bait. While dangerous it is rare that they try to eat prey as large as adult humans, provided the stream claw is not starving and the human or other similarly sized creature is not inured or otherwise disabled. During the day stream claws sleep in dark secluded areas such as shallow caves, abandon beaver lodges, and similar structures.
