Lizard Folk
The lizard folk of Pond are generally nomadic traders that travel the great lakes as either small caravans or in their majestically ramshackle floating cities. regarded as vibrant and shrewd traders viewed with both awe and suspicion. The creatures themselves appeared similar to the earless monitor lizard, with drab in colors ranging from dull black to rusts with medium length tails , semi-webbed fingers and toes, letteral scoots, short broad snouts, and pail blue eyes. They stand on average 5'4" and weigh 175 lbs although outliers are more common than in other species. Possibly do to their drab natural coloring and similar appearance to each other most lizard folk are attracted to vibrant colors and bold patterns, because of this preference they often paint their homes , usually boats, in bright paints such as yellows, blues, reds, and greens. For their clothing they tend to favor scarves, wraps, loose fitting pants, loose vests, and similar loose fitting light weight clothing that dries quickly. Their preference for loose-fitting clothing is because of their wide range in size variation and shape inherent to the species as well as the close proximity to water necessitating the clothing be easily dried and in the case of underwater mishaps easy to remove.
Professionally most lizard folk are traders moving between the various settlements of Pond trading all manner of things ranging from rare spices to raw metals and esoteric objects. The flamboyant appearance and nomadic nature of these people means that if and when one of their larger settlements arrive of the coast it is a major occasion and a lot of trade is about to be done in a short amount of time as the cities don't remain in one place for very long.
They always accept arrivals docking at their cities with no hostility or fanfare of any kind, if you have money to spend or goods to trade they are happy to do so provided you do not become a public menace. Most amenities of normal cities are offered as well as the famed Scarsalelan a type of exfoliating bath designed to help remove dead skin and scales from shedding their skin, this service is also available to non lizard folk though it is seldom sought after as descriptions of what it feels like vary from person to person and range from pleasant to painful.
