Flop Pukkas

An uncommon subspecies of pukka, Flop pukka are generally a tawny brown or cream color with rabbit like ears that flop over instead of standing up like a standard pukka's. Aside form the visual distinction Flops have a significant difference in demeaner, disposition and culture than other pukkas. Where standard Pukkas are energetic, ramboncsous, expressive, and loud with forceful personalities, Flop pukkas are quiet, reserved, introverted, and timid.    This difference in personalities leads to Flop culture being overwhelmed and buried amidst the raucous nature of standard pukka society. Because of the relatively small number of Flops and their more timid nature they tend to be overlooked or ignored by pukka society and most outsiders are not even aware that they exist or are any different from normal pukka society.  This leads to many of the Flop traditions being unknow to society at large and ignored by standard pukkas who view them as boring events or overly reserved customs. While not actively hostile to Flops most pukkas view them as anti-social, boring, or overly melancholic and will either ignore them or try to bring them into more "normal" culture often inviting them to large parties, sporting events, or similar activities, these offers are usually declined but in the rare instances where attendance is unavoidable the flop usually ends up being a tense, uncomfortable, wall flower.   As far as outside cultural interactions most other cultures that know about them find them hard to interact with because of their more cautious, insular and reserved nature.  When interactions occur they are most often initiated accidently or by the outsiders. Of the outside races Flops find interacting with the Ocani to be easiest as the sturdy mountain folk are seen as being direct, dependable, and not overly intrusive. They view the diminutive Ouphes with confusion and a general amount of concern as the small creatures are exceptionally eccentric making their actions unpredictable and mysterious. For an outsider to be invited to a Flop pukka event is a great show of acceptance that is rare indeed.

Culture

Common Etiquette rules

Simple greetings are preferred. If invited into ones home guests should be given a small snack. Refusing to eat at least a small snack is considered rude and a slight against ones host.

Common Dress code

None but modest and well maintained cloths are the norm. Most Flops prefer muted colors for their clothing as well as soft sturdy fabric. Married Flops gift their partner a richly colored scarf common colors or deep burgundy, dark blue, and forest green. Naturally these scarves are greatly sentimental and kept tucked away only to be worn for special occasions.

Art & Architecture

Flops occasionally create melancholic art particularly instrumental music that channels great sadness.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Contrary to most pukka's raucous wakes and memorial celebrations, Flop pukka's memorials are quiet, modest , somber affairs with little more than simple memories stated about the deceased. These memorials are often quite small and insular. For anyone other that a direct relative to be invited is an indication that the deceased had a particularly strong relationship with them.

I like that your take on the prompt is pretty unique by not being about overt oppression but rather about the perhaps unintended kind that tend to happen when one way of being and living for several reasons ends up drowning out the other, followed by these unspoken expectations of conformity to a norm. Their situation is so very relatable.
