The Order of the Silverbrand

Founding: The Silver Flame's Blessing

The Order of the Silverbrand was founded in 200BR during the Age of Iron, a period of turmoil when monstrous forces and dark warlords threatened to overwhelm the realms. At that time, a demon-worshiping sorcerer named Malzareth the All Calling unleashed a wave of corruption upon the lands. Twisted beasts, undead hordes, and vile cultists swept through villages, consuming everything in their path.

Amid this darkness, a humble blacksmith named Eldric Thorne had a vision. While labouring over his forge, a blinding silver flame erupted from the coals, consuming his tools and bathing him in divine light. Eldric claimed he heard the voice of the goddess Krina, the Lady of Light and Justice. She instructed him to forge a weapon that could stand against the forces of corruption.

Under divine inspiration, Eldric crafted the Silverbrand, a sword of pure silver imbued with holy magic. Unlike ordinary silver weapons, the blade radiated a light capable of burning away darkness and repelling creatures of corruption. With the weapon complete, Eldric joined forces with a band of warriors of Tribes and Tibur Empire, who were determined to restore order. Thus, the Order of the Silverbrand was born, taking its name from the holy weapon that became its symbol.

The Purge of the Handdites

The fledgling Order's first campaign was against Malzareth and his monstrous army. Led by Ser Aric Dawnshield, a knight of unparalleled courage, the Order became a beacon of hope for the oppressed. The Silverbrand itself was said to glow brightest in Ser Aric's hands, burning through the sorcerer’s demonic beasts as though they were paper.

In the final confrontation, Ser Aric faced Malzareth atop the Crimson Spire, the sorcerer's stronghold. Though gravely wounded, Ser Aric plunged the Silverbrand into Malzareth’s chest, shattering the sorcerer’s hold over his demonic forces. However, the victory came at great cost—both Ser Aric and the Silverbrand vanished in a blinding explosion of silver flame.

In the aftermath, the Order was hailed as saviours and protectors. Though the original Silverbrand was lost, the Order adopted its image as their Sigel, a silver flame behind a black shield and three silver swords over the shield, symbolizing their mission to defend the light against the encroaching dark.

The Age of Expansion

In the centuries that followed, the Order of the Silverbrand expanded its influence, establishing Silver Keeps—fortified monasteries and training grounds—across the realms. The Order grew not only in size but in purpose, evolving into a brotherhood dedicated to fighting all unnatural threats: demons, undead, monstrous hordes, and curses.

While the Order remained faithful to Krina, they became renowned for their pragmatism. Their warriors combined holy magic with martial expertise, using enchanted silvered weapons and blessed armour to combat darkness. To finance their campaigns, the Order accepted donations, contracts, and tithes from kingdoms, cities, and towns in need of protection.

The Blacktooth War

One of the Order's most famous campaigns occurred during the Blacktooth War, when the Blacktooth Gnolls, led by Vhorrak the Howling Hunger, ravaged the Dreadclaw Savannah and neighboring regions. The gnolls’ ferocity and the power of the cursed Blackfang Spear seemed unstoppable.

The Order of the Silverbrand, led by Sir Edric of the Ironblade, spearheaded the coalition that stood against the gnolls. Sir Edric, wielding an enchanted blade forged in the likeness of the lost Silverbrand, faced Vhorrak in single combat during the Battle of the Broken Fang. Though the fight nearly cost him his life, Edric struck down the gnoll warlord, breaking the horde’s power.

The victory solidified the Order's reputation as relentless champions against monstrous threats. Edric's blade, later named the Ironbrand, was enshrined in the Order’s High Keep as a symbol of their enduring vigilance.

The Age of Darkness

During the years of 500PR to 610PR was the Age of Darkness where a evil Elven woman named Zelistra appeared and started invading the Tibur Empire with an army of demons then she gathered tribes and clans of all races to help her, at first she focused on the Tibur Empire then continued to invade other lands of Tibur after she collapse the Tibur Empire. Zelistra then peak the interest of a Devil King from Devils Island and he than started to invade the lands.

One of the Order's most devastating defeats came at the hand of Zelistra and her armies of demons during the 100 years war against her, though they did held back her forces they had another to contend with, Marcus a Devil from a island called Devils Island.

The Order fought many battles and had victories but they were far and few compared to the defeats the suffered to Zelistra's armies and Marcus' devils.

As all hope seemed lost, two armies appeared calling themselves the Black Dragon Scales and the Dread Hunters. They turned the tide of defeat in to a victory beating both Zelistra and Marcus and saving the realms from their evil. after the war the Order was seen as less compared to the Black Dragon Scales and Dread Hunters but this did not halt their faith as they continued their mission.

Modern Role and Structure

Today, the Order of the Silverbrand operates as an independent and highly disciplined force dedicated to protecting the realms from supernatural and monstrous threats. While some kingdoms offer the Order land and titles, the brotherhood remains neutral in political conflicts, answering only to their Grandmaster and their sacred mission.

The Order is structured into several divisions:

  • The Dawnblades: The knights and warriors who serve as the Order's frontline fighters, wielding silvered weapons and holy magic.
  • The Lightbinders: Priests and clerics who channel Krina's divine power to heal allies and banish corruption.
  • The Shadowhunters: Scouts, trackers, and inquisitors tasked with locating dark threats before they can spread.
  • The Forgemasters: Blacksmiths and enchanters who craft the Order’s silvered weapons and armour, infusing them with divine blessings.

Enemies and Alliances

The Order of the Silverbrand is both revered and feared. While kingdoms often rely on their aid, some rulers resent the Order’s independence and moral authority. The Order’s greatest enemies include:

  • The Blacktooth Gnolls: The Order considers the Blacktooth a lingering threat, particularly as rumours of the Blackfang Spear’s resurface.
  • The Hand Cultist: Worshippers of the demonic gods, putting them in direct opposition to the Order.
  • The Moggites: Worshippers of Mogg a cannibal god, putting them in direct opposition to the Order.
  • Zelistra: Powerful Elven woman who the Order could not defeat, drawing the Order into bitter feelings against her.

The Silverbrand Prophecy

A final legend whispers that the original Silverbrand Sword was not destroyed but hidden, waiting for a time of dire need when darkness will threaten to consume the world. It is said that a chosen knight, marked by Krina herself, will reclaim the blade and lead the Order to their greatest victory.

Many among the Order believe this prophecy to be metaphorical, a tale to inspire their knights. Others, particularly the zealous Lightbinders, see it as a call to seek out the lost sword, claiming that the day of ultimate darkness is fast approaching.

We serve to protected the realms from the evil that plagues it, guided by our lady of Light, Krina.
