Session 06 & 07: Mall Madness and The Butcher
General Summary
Shopping at the Everything Emporium was a treat for the party. Besides buying many items, some information was also gained. VV discovered that he's a cleric of Tyr, as explained by a shopkeeper who had met someone named VI, the first generation of Tyr Modians built, who apparently was too enthusiastic about enacting justice. Armed with this information, VV is more in touch with his cleric abilities and knows that more information about why he was made can be found somewhere in Sigil. Tech also discovered that his mentor was a well known artisan who used to have a shop in the Everything Emporium and her craftsmanship was unrivaled.
There's a commotion and people announce the bank is under attack. The players return to find Erasimus the banker encased in resin surrounded by 3 kaorti. They are able to destroy the Kaorti with ease and free the banker. In return he says they can stay at the local tavern, The Plot and Hook, with room, food, and drinks all on his tab.
Finally able to relax, the players recount all that has happened to them so far.
They were invited by their long lost mentors to an Axani wedding celebrating Idris Telemmier and Nehara Alarie in the Realm of the Norns . In the middle of the ceremony, and Architect attacked and reshaped the entire plane, but at the last minute the "wedding invitations" the players received (strange opal rocks on a necklace) vibrated and teleported them to an Originator laboratory. They discovered evidence that the young Wedding Planner Thalias might be responsible for changing their stones to be originator tech, and they capture Keepers trying to wipe the evidence. While they are remembering their adventure so far, they hear and upset Modron behind them. It's Trine the Modron who is upset because his husband just asked him for a divorce. Once the group successfully distracts him from his woes, Trine answers all their questions about Originators.
They made it back to the World Serpant Inn and traveled the Outlands to a small patch of the Realm of the Norns that appeared out of nowhere. There they found Idris, singing a song about losing Nehara, who he believes is still alive but her mind has been torn apart. They agree to meet at the Fortune's Wheel casino in Tradegate. They were then sent to Tradegate to find a Modron named Trine who can tell them more about Originator technology.
They've already met Originators: the Kaorti
Originators were considered the first society to discover there were different planes of existence and ways to get to them. They developed portal magic. After some time, a few extremists wanted to unify all of reality with their portal magic. A group of Originator Mages tore a hole in existence and entered. What eventually returned from the space beyond could only be described as vague simulacra of the wizards, their minds and souls in perpetual agony as they sought to coexist with the structure of reality. For most of my career I thought the few bits of originator tech I could find were simply meant to repell or protect against the Kaorti. Then during the war with the archtects I worked with my friend and we discovered that it was meant to protect them from something the Kaorti brought back. Enough of a concentration of originator tech can teleport beings away from danger from this other realm. It happened to me and my friend, and we ended up in an Originator laboratory. I discovered that that is the only part of the Originator's plane that remains and it hurtles through space and time. a few cultures call it the planebreaker. I honestly don't know if the Architects were what they wanted to protect themselves against. I have found no evidence of Originator sites that have been touched by Architects, which you'd think there would be if they were enough of a menace to a society to develop a technology so drastic to teleport someone away from a danger. And the fact that the only thing left of their plane is made entirely out of the tech is flying through space time, as if it's constantly fleeing from something. I believe the Architects are merely hunting dogs that are controlled by someone else. The contact his friend made with the Architects all those years ago should have meant they wouldn't come back for him. Unless they were forced. No I think that this time the Architect has a different master. There are whispers that the factions of Sigil aren't as stable as they used to be and are vying for more power. The fact that you don't know why your wedding invitations were changed and the the suspicious circumstances of your long lost mentors inviting you but not being present makes me think someone wanted survivors.
