Adventure Journal
Just like in a video game, here you can find brief notes on your active quests and secrets.
The Security Deposit Box
The following was found in the security deposit box stolen from the Bank of Abbathor in Dendradis:
- Property taxes for a temple called Twilight Hall signed by Fornault Blacksun. But they are paid far too frequently, 6 times in the past year alone, with a 7th due date listed for 2 weeks from now.
- Census reports that detail a growing number of people in Sigil who worship the god Cyric. Notably all in the same district as Twilight Hall - the Lady's Ward
- A deed to Fretter's Fetters and Fritters marked "null and void", dated 6 weeks ago (day of the wedding). Reasoning simply saying "Tower Sorcerous Reappearance".
- Papers attached to other letterheads that read Office for Planar Trade and signed by Factor Aram Oakwright that vaguely catalogs "white, opalescent crystals", delivered to and signed by Ely Cromlich, Fornault Blacksun, and Duke Rowan Darkwood.
- Ely Cromlich also has been signing off on a strange number of Kaorti crystals for the Doomguard armory
- A smudged letter
- 6 black iron keys
Dear Duke Darkwood,
I begrudingly accept your offer, though we both know that this is blackmail in its most vile form. I will pick up the crystals as ordered and send them to Guardinal Skeppy, Artisan Sovenis Kerynstacia, Father Oh-ig, Mr. Maelrex, Mr. Red, Archon Thalos, and Guardinal Bernard and whoever their guests are determined to be when I consult the threads. I do this not for you, but out of the promise of the return of my god Aoskar, if he is truly not dead as you say. I do not take joy in this betrayal and have little faith in your word, but when one's faith has been dead for hundreds of years, where else can it hold hope.
-Associate Axani wedding planner, Thalias Anoscetia
Adventure Plot Points
The Forgotten Three
Considering Thalias' letter, Aoskar is probably still alive and might be involved in this plot
Hilmarr analyzes the contents of the security deposit box, and in a letter to his lover says that he suspects three Gods are involved, including Cyric
My Love,
There is not just one God involved. Things happen in threes. There’s one more key to Cyric’s throne prison. I don’t know the God or entity the Doomguard have allied themselves with. And Factol Terrance is wrong. So wrong.
You were right. The World Born Dead has been summoned.
-Hilmarr
Absent Mentors
Everyone was invited to the wedding as a guest to their estranged mentors, but while Idris encountered them in his past, there's no indication of why they were invited or why they were not present at the wedding
In the safety deposit box acquired during it's revealed that Wedding Planner Thalias was blackmailed by Fated Factol Duke Rowan Darkwood to use the Originator crystals as invites for the mentors and their guests, though at the time she didn't know who the mentor's guests would be.
Missing Bride
Idris's wife-to-be Nehara Alarie went missing after the Architect attack (listen to The Rockrose and The Thistle on spotify). When Idris tried to portal them away, he felt her mind ripped to ribbons by something in the "in-between". He's convinced though that she's still alive, and told the party to meet him at the Fortune's Wheel in Sigil.
Mysterious Allies
While in Tradegate, the party was slipped a cipher that said the Stannach Rilmani (a race of Rilmani who believe all creatures have a place in the great cosmic balance) "seek similar ends". The Rilmani live at the base of The Spire in the Outlands, where the City of Sigil resides at the top.
Wedding Invite Tampering
While in the Originator laboratory, the party found a trinket known to be associated with the Athar faction in Sigil next to a workbench where their crystals were switched out for Originator tech. Could the Athar be involved? Or is this a ruse constructed by a rival faction? Whatever the answer, a secret cabal that guards universal secrets, Keepers , sent a subsection called The Eyes of the Void to eliminate all of the evidence.
In the same location there was a sensory stone that recorded anxiety from the missing Wedding Planner Thalias about switching out the stones. Is she a willing or unwilling participant in this mystery?
In the safety deposit box acquired during Act 2 Session 4: The Heist , Thalias was blackmailed by Fated Factol Duke Rowan Darkwood to invite the mentors. He promised that doing so could cause the return of her reportedly dead god Aoskar, the god of portals.
There is a theory that the wedding invites weren't entirely written by the mentors, and magic may have been used to change the letter's contents
Originator Technology - Complete
Trine the Modron, an expert on Originator technology, reveals to the party that the Originators created their tech to protect against something the Kaorti (mages twisted by enterting a different dimension) brought back with them. (see full details in this session report)
Trine knows of a reclusive mage, Gaia Grey, who was experimenting with originator technology in higher quantities than he ever did.
After resorting Gaia Grey's tower, the players gained the ability to use their Originator Tech to control portals and portal effects, something only Axani Wildwalkers and Axonian Hounds can do. See Laws around Portal Operations and @portal for more details
