Longhouse

The longhouse is the most common type of house on this island, it's a wooden construction usually 50 - 60 feet long and 20 wide. The house is divided into a living area and a work area; for the families who have animals, the work area would be a barn. For fishermen, the work area would be a place where you hang up and dry the fish for later consumption / trade.

Purpose / Function

This primitive yet effective type of housing is very common in Norse society. Built long to divide the house into a living part and a working part this is a must have for anyone trying to survive in the harsh world in which they live.
