Vangks
Oroks whose fangs descend from their upper lip. Thier bodies are covered in thick fur, and they have slits for nostrils. Unlike their orc brethren, Vangk are conspirers, inventing clever tactics to subdue their enemy with a combination of guile and skill. They train with tactics of assassination and dance fighting that serves to confuse the enemy or throw them off guard to leave them open for a lethal strike. Vangk of old consider fighting evenly against a foe that is clearly stronger than them to be foolhardy, and thus look down on the brutish Orc fighting styles and traditions.
Due to the unnatural cause of their creation, Vangk are born with a latent connection to arcana. They only learn how to use magic however through a unique process called Transference, where the Vangk siphons the arcana of another person or creature, and learns through absorbing that power, how to use it. This has left the Vangk with a reputation as "blood suckers" although that is far from the truth (They prefer fruits over all else, but also eat meat and vegetables).
When a Vangk is attempting to learn something magical, they attempt to take as little arcana as necessary, so as not to weaken their target. There have unfortunately been plenty who have been known to take this power too far, and forgo the cautions and rules agreed upon by the society at large. These individuals are malicious and can be highly dangerous, as not only will they drain an individual of all arcana until they pass out, but they gain the ability to master any skills that individual had in their life. Victims of such attacks do not tend to last long, as they wither and die in a phenomenon called "The Last Sleep". If a victim of a draining attack is recovered quickly enough after entering "The Last Sleep" and suffused with enough arcana, they can be saved, although the trauma of such an experience is known to drive most survivors to insanity. Vangk researchers have spent many resources, studying the phenomena known as "The Last Sleep" and what victims of this phenomena experience. Additionally, Vangks who have an absolute mastery over their power to transfer arcana to themselves from another eventually gain a deeper understanding into the flow of such magics and learn how to reverse them. This is commonly seen as "healing miracles" but since the level of mastery to be able to do this is quite high, the majority of individuals who know how to infuse arcana are reserved for emergencies, experimentation, and the recovery of drained individuals. This has led to Vangks being referred to as either bush-dwellers or tree-dwellers, based on their region of origin. There are two major societies of Vangks that live in Okor's Rest. Vang'raka, a city in the southwest built inside a magical crater overgrown with wildlife, and Lu'Penka, a thriving network of buildings in the boughs of the world tree Luruptia in the northeast. Primal: Vampires
