Humans Species in Phenuxia | World Anvil

Humans

Origin: Long ago, the people of Incontinence believed that this was the whole world. There were many creatures that inhabited the known world, animals and creatures of all kinds, as well as many tribes of bipedal creatures, to include: Humans, Oroks, Dwarves, Drackonis, Elzari, and many more. At first these people lived naturally with their environment. The Oroks had their wars in the South, the Drackonis were subjugated by cruel masters in the East, Elzari and dwarves kept mainly to themselves in environments less hospitable to humans, who lived in the Northern Wilds. It is unclear how exactly humans came to be, all that is truly known is that they are the newest peoples to be discovered on Incontinence, and are a fledgling species that is just beginning to understand themselves and figure out the world they live in.
Over time, they developed tools and machines to help them better survive their daily lives. From a gathering of unnamed villages arose a kingdom, a whole human civilization. Leading this age of progress and development was a charismatic young man named Astor, who claimed the title of King to better guide the weak and innocent. His influence spread throughout the far reaches of the north, and some small villages even began appearing in the south, just beyond Okor's Rest.

During Human Invasion:
A single human King saw this as an opportunity for expansion and began amassing an army. The beastkin of Taka Forest initially tried to prevent this by reasoning with him. They implored him not to bring war to their peoples, but the king insisted that it was only a matter of time before war broke out, and he simply had the best interests of his own people at heart. He agreed to their terms, and then turned around and brought the full might of his armies down upon the village of ravens that attempted to repel his advance into the south, slaughtering their whole tribe, stealing their precious Tribal Artifact, the Raven Rune, and burning a path through the forest. When he reached his destination, he did not spare the villages of humans that had already settled there, killing many before setting up a war camp to invade the Oroks' home.
He took advantage of the civil war between the Vangks and the Orcs and made it deep into their territory before being repelled by the mighty Vel'rok clan. He turned his sights elsewhere, splitting his forces between the Elzari of the forests and the dwarves and goliaths in the mountains. He even took a troop into the East to conquer the drackonis, but found they were already slave to an insurmountable foe. He successfully conquered many other peoples, enslaving them for the creation of his kingdom. Then as suddenly as his conquest had begun, he disappeared. The species of the known world rallied against the humans and finally, razed his kingdom to the ground.

Post Human Invasions: The fragments of humanity that were left fled the north, settling in small villages in the south and in the east. A small monarchy named Tarthsbane arose outside of Okor's Rest, which caused some problems. There were some skirmishes between the humans and the orcs that led the humans to believe orcs were a violent warmongering people. The Oroks however built a wall to separate themselves from the humans and the rest of the world, ending the bloodshed. Other humans settled in the east, just south of the Desert Styx, in unnamed villages near the coast. Farmlands popped up on the luscious rolling hills nearby.
A century later after the adventures of a famous human, Abby Normal, a new human monarchy began to rise, the great trade city of Er'In. It was a flourishing society, and this did not sit well with the King of Tarthsbane, who was struggling to provide for his people. He led his armies east through the Dragon's Pass, where King Regent Astor VII met his forces in battle and won, bringing an end to the kingdom of Tarthsbane.
He then called for a meeting with The Collective, to which they begrudgingly agreed. He begged their forgiveness for the sins of his people in the past and promised that he would set things right between all their peoples however he could. The wise leaders agreed, believing the cycle of hatred needed to be broken, and accepted humanity into their ranks. They are still keenly watched as the world is all too wary of what may happen should the humans get out of control again.

Current status:
In modern times humans have the smallest population of all the peoples on Incontinence. It has been many centuries since the fall of Astorel, and a new human kingdom named Er'in now stands proud in the southeast as the most successful trade city in the history of the world. It is ruled by the wise and benevolent King Astor VII who has proven himself in battle as a skilled fighter, and whose deepest desire is to heal the rift betwixt Man and Mortal.   Primal: Crawlers
Appearance: Humans do not have fur, or scales, or feathers, or a tough hide like normal people. Instead, they are soft, pink, fleshy creatures that stand on average 5 - 7 ft tall. The closest thing they have to fur is hair that grows on their heads and in other unmentionable parts of their body, typically in shades of "brown" (Some have orange hair, some have blonde, and many have gray/white/silvery hair that tends to be a sign of their age.) Humans tend to only live less than a single century.
