Magic cubes of transfer

Once frequent, now possibly unique

Magic cubes of transfer used to be frequently found magical items used to link two places together, allowing rapid transfer of objects, people or message between the two points, independently to the distance between the two cubes. To work the two cubes had to be magically attuned first, then only when both cubes where setted to the same identical configuration the passage between the two magical item would be activated.

Portals but not only

The most common function of this type of magical item is to act as a portal, sometimes even between different dimensions, instantly transferring the person completing the appropriate configuration at the position of the receiving cube. However, this is only one of the options, this type of items can be used to communicate a great distance, either a recorded message or a live conversation. Finally, certain types of cube could be used to transfer objects located on the cube itself, saving time and energy. To activate a specific power, the cube had to be configurated during the process of creation, therefore it was impossible to alter the functions of a cube after its creation.

A long lost knowledge

The magic spells to create this type of item were complex and, although fairly common in the past, only few magician used to be able to craft one without any faults. The magic procedure to create a cube has been lost during the Great War of the Mages and most of these item have disappeared after the conflagration.
