The Invasion From Beyond
The magical barrier between the prime material plane and the others is weakening and increasing numbers of evil creatures plague the lands. In an effort to determine who or what is behind the invasion, the leaders of the nations of Pethron are lowering their independence and have begun instituting a unifying council.
Will it be able to solve the problem and get things back to the way they were, or will it become a worse problem, leading to war?

The Conflict
Prelude
It is unknown when the deterioration of the Barrier Anchor in the east began, or what caused it to start to fail...
Deployment
For the first time in two thousand years of their development, the nations of Speaking People in Pethron have attempted to form up a joined council, using funds to deploy forces against the invaders in the east.
Battlefield
Initial conflict is occurring north of the Eastern Settlements. Could it spread west to affect the Dwarven strongholds and the Extended Dominion? Will the deterioration of the Anchors come to those protecting the Dragonborn Empire, Elven Valleys and Kingdom of Men?
Outcome
The looming threat and all that isn't known about it have driven an unlikely alliance.
In past conflicts the Elves have remained distant and aloof, preferring not to weigh in on the business of the other groups. Even now, they may choose to walk away, rather than fight.
The Dwarves have always relied on the depth and strength of their strongholds to allow them to ignore threats from outside. But now their ancient green skinned enemies are showing up in greater numbers.
The Humans and Dragonborn have had on-and-off tension over past generations. And the myriad peoples of the Eastern Settlements have plenty of reason to distrust any military force from either nation taking up residence in their otherwise-unaligned territory.
