Kree’s dream
- 22 religion check
- K wakes up in a dream because that makes sense
- She is in a large room of clean-cut stone with some misshapen humanoid creatures waiting in a line
- She hears soft footsteps and hears a voice say “Back again are we?” She turns around and replies “Hard to keep me away”
- Sees a very tall Tiefling with glowing red eyes who tilts her head and gives her a half smile
- Can see bits of her body where flesh is missing and bone is showing, the decay seems to migrate around her body
- She puts a hand on K’s shoulder and says “Take a walk with me” K follows
- She sees ghosts and imps seemingly staff attending to the line
- Kallista opens a door and heads inside, K follows and says “I thought over what you asked me last time” Kallista spins to look at her and smiles saying “I’m interested, continue”
- K says “From the teachings I learned from my tribe we never messed with necromancy, some said it was tradition, some forbidden, but now that I’m off on my own and I’ve had time to really look at things and see how things work outside of my town I’ve definitely warmed up to maybe being able to use necromancy not just to aid in battle but in healing as well”
- Kallista smiles and says “You know, a lot don’t understand that restoration, healing, it’s all some form of necromancy”
- In one hand she has a small glowing ball of yellowish light, in the other a sphere of blood
- Looking at the blood she says “You need this to live, yet I can use this to...” K watches as a skeleton rise from the ground and the blood shoots onto it, reviving the Orc who then starts decaying
- She uses the other hand with the glowing light, all his wounds heal, he is fresh again before getting younger and younger until an Orc baby is lying on the floor
- She picks up the baby Orc and says “It’s all the same to me. I know a lot of these new gods, they all diversify” then snaps her fingers, teleporting them to another room, at a much high altitude, the orc baby is now in a cradle asleep
- Kallista is sitting in an ornate throne with a table in front that has a glass sphere with what looks like a mammoth and diagonally across is a large trident she says “I won’t be able to keep granting you gifts like this, not if we don’t survive with coming onslaught” The trident looks like it’s leaking violet spores from the prongs, the mammoth sphere also has the spores inside the sphere
- Kallista looks at K and asks which she would choose K wanders towards the mammoth and looks closer at it (9 investigation) the mammoth moves and looks up to her, and trumpets, shooting a spore cloud out of its body and obscuring it
- Kallista notices her interest and says “So you’re interested in the wild shape form”
- K explains the goal of her pilgrimage, how she’s supposed to try to find and learn about something that is more out of the ordinary, that could potentially be helpful to the flock
- Kallista says she’s been watching her and that she made this for K she likes to create things for new champions, that she wishes she didn't need new champions
- She tells her if she takes it, when she wakes up, to crush the sphere and she will learn the wild shape
- K hears a loud gong like and Kallista says she can answer 1 question before she has to go, K asks if there’s anything she can do to aid her, Kallista says survive that she needs relics collected, K wakes up
Bruzrik’s Dream
- B awakes in the dream world looking down across nothing but ocean and notices he’s on the edge of a crumbling cliff; B uses his dragon wings to hover above the cliff edge
- A set of large talons grab his wings and above him is a giant bird wreathed in electricity
- B notices as the bird flies off that he is on a continent sized floating island in the sky and can see s huge workshop in the distance
- B gets dropped off in a grassy area and a little mechanical squirrel comes up to him, looking at him before running off. He follows the squirrel
- The squiirel takes him through a forested area and as he’s walking, he sees mechanical birds in the trees and far in the distance a tiger but with stripes of mithril, it sits as they pass
- Squirrel leads him to a side door on the workshop.
- He sees a bunch of contraptions for opening the door (20 intelligence) and is able to figure it out with no issue and a pneumatic tube drops with a note saying “Key under door mat”
- He looks down and doesn’t see a doormat, but the squirrel swipes its tail, brushing away the dirt revealing a door mat
- He looks under the door mat and sees a lockbox with a keyring inside, one of the keys being a tealish colour and different to the others, which he uses to unlock the door
- He sees a large rat in a hot tub who tells him he got here faster than expected and tells him to come in
- B walks in, notices shelves covered in gizmos and gadgets
- The Ratfolk is puffing on a pipe and asks if he would like a smoke, B says what the hell
- A sheet falls from the ceiling and once it rolls, he’s dry and wearing robes, he rummages through a draw and puts together a long pipe, handing it to B and asks if he needs a light, B says yes, and he lights
- B hears a distant gong like sound
- Zaolu tells him to sit quickly, that they don’t have much time, and asks if he’s heard the name Skurth B says no one tells him shit
- Zaolu says he may be able to help with that, that he believes Skurth may be the reason the gods have been unable to rejoin the world B asks if he needs to go punch him in the crotch, Zaolu says he might be doing that in 10 days and that he believes Nekros is his champion
- B says he should have thrown hands
- Zaolu tells him to stand quickly, and B does so, Zaolu crabs a cane and hits it on the ground causing light to spread through what he thought to be cracks in the floorboards but is instead something like electricity that moves to where B had been sitting, he takes a step back and what he thought was just a seat was instead something of a mechanical anvil, seeing arcane orbs appearing underneath it and causing it to levitate before transforming into a small orb which Zaolu tells him to grab
- He feels a surge of power in the orb, Zaolu says it’s a crucible and that he knows he’s not much of a tinkerer, but the crucible is a portable forge and that it will be able to be used for constructions and repairs as well as something else important that he will be able to do more with as he gets stronger then tells him to pick up a sword, B complies
- He says one of the orbs powers is to turn metal into zolium, forgetting that he wouldn’t know, he says he created it 8000 years ago, tells him to put the sword against the crucible and he does, the orb attaches to the sword examining the sword then goes to the top and sees it fire a laser seeming to transform the metal into a tealish colour, says it would take about 4 hours at his level
- Zaolu says they’re running out of time, he wishes he could tell him more and asks if there’s anything he can do to help him, B asks what weaknesses Skurth has, Zaolu points to his eyes and says “do you see how my eyes glow yellow, all of us gods have glowing eyes, Skurth is the only one that doesn’t have glowing eyes, says he’s the god of chaos, trickery, deception plague, diseases, darkness, and shadows but the scariest part is that he’s the god of madness
- Zaolu says he can tell them about Skurths home dimension and that each god has their own home dimension
- B wakes up
Micrafae’s dream
- M wakes up in a cozy bed, but not the same bed (13 perception) she notices a lake of fire out the window and knows where she is
- She hears the thumping of feet outside the door, she gets up and opens it, seeing a large dog (12 animal handling) picks it as a hell hound, it bounds down the hallway and she follows seeing a courtyard a couple floors below with training dummies with centaurs, minotaurs goatfolk and lizard folk all training with each other
- The dog leads her to the end of the hall, she walks in seeing Korbus fishing out of a window behind his throne
- He notices her and gestures for her to come over, he asks what she’s doing here, and she says she told him she had something figured out, He asks how long it has been since he saw her last and says time if more Gwenzaline’s thing
- He tells her to take a seat and the stones form into a seat by he asks if she’s comfortable, M says comfortable enough
- Korbus sits in his throne and says “It’s nice having two champions again. I haven’t had a girl champion since... I don’t know, they keep dying. Most of them embrace being a champion of Korbus and they run off and get killed and it really sucks not being able to deal with that. Anyway, how can I help you? You’re going to need my help” M agrees
- M asks if she gets more than one question this time and Korbus says it’s not up to him, sometimes it is but not this time. M ponders what questions to prioritise
- While she thinks Korbus says he’s going something special brewing for her but it’s not quite ready yet, M asks if she’s allowed a hint or if it’s a surprise
- Korbus says “Well, I’ve paid a little more attention to you, now that you haven’t died right away. You’re a bard, right? Like to sing, things like that?” M affirms
- He continues “Well, I love a good song! What I have for you will be a fun little thing that has never existed which is really fun to play with” M says she is intrigued
- He says “there’s not much to do for thousands of years but I get to play with a little creation magic, if you’re a bard, and that’s your thing, I thought, what can I do to help you stay alive. So what I’m gonna do is send you a little buddy. I don’t know how I’m going to get it to you, it’s not ready yet”
- He leans in to her with a hand over his mouth and queitly says “I’ve got my best people on it” and winks, and a familiar phoenix calls out from the distance, insinuating the pheonix is the one making it
- M says she has a request and a question Korbus tells her to go ahead
- M says “Next time you see Tarruk, can you send him to Ravenswood” Korbus says sure, he’ll point him in that direction
- M follows up with “You said it’s been a long time since things happened, and you mentioned Skurth, what happened?”
- Korbus says “Well it’s been about 2000 years I’ve been trapped in my own home. I don’t even know if it’s my home. I don’t know if this is all a construct. Zaolu would know. All I know if I’m here, some of my people are here, we’re all stuck. But Skurth... Fuck that guy! That little bastard, how many times he’s tried to meddle with my champions! I know it’s him, I can’t prove it, but I know he’s been killing my girls”
- M says “Well, if my ex husband can’t manage it... I’m sure I can figure something out” He smiles at her and says “I got a good feeling about you kid” M says “I’m glad one of us does”
- There’s a loud sound in the distance and Korbus says “Quick kiddo, how can I help?” M asks what the best way to take down a Minotaur is, Korbus starts to explain, pointing to his back, then she wakes up
Gwinri’s dream
- G is brought to the same place she was brought last time, faced with the same choice, go to the labyrinth of temple
- She’s small storm clouds roaming over the expansive labyrinth, the temple is a massive building with many columns around and the interior walls are lined with statues of an orc woman in various stages of transforming into a wolf, progressing as they go further in towards the thrown at the end but it otherwise empty
- G heads to the labyrinth (8 perception 14 investigation) thinks she hears something behind her, but turns around and nothing it there, hearing it again behind her, realises the longer she stays in there the harder it will be to get out
- Sees plants resembling cat tails growing from the cracks in the ground with a white tip leaving a chalky white mark on the wall as they blow in the wind
- G picks a flower and sees it acts exactly like chalk, remarks on the oddity and proceeds to walk through
- She hears fluttering wings (perception 10) but sees nothing followed by a voice saying, “you’re not very good at this are you, why wouldn’t you use the chalk” G asks, “on what?” The voice says “They wall, how are you going to get back”
- G looks up and sees a minitaur (minotaur but Gnome sized) with winged feet who sees “No wonder Gwenzaline sent me to get you, you went the wrong way again. Follow me.” and flies off
- G speeds after him (16 athletics) and is able to keep pace, but only just
- They make it out of the labyrinth, and he points to the temple and says she’s waiting for her
- G heads in, this time seeing torches lit inside the temple with a large orcish woman with glowing silver eyes on a throne talking to a man standing below her
- G super sprints down the hall the minitaur “you could have used the whole time geez”
- G sees an older Half Elf gentleman, around 6 feet tall and lean, has the laugh lines of a jovial man and has silver streaks in his hair, sees a crescent moon tattoo in silver on his arm
- He turns to her and says, “You finally made it, I’ve been trying to talk to you” G apologises, the orc looks bored and says “You think I would have all the time in the world. Gwinri, why did it take so long for you to use the gift I gave you. Well, we’re finally meeting now, you didn’t die, almost though. So, what are you going to do?”
- G asks about what “You’re going to let the town be destroyed” G says no. She continues “I’ve already asked Alastros to join you”
- G asks where he is he says he fell into the fey wild, he’s out now, but he’s in a forest where everything is trying to kill and he’s asleep in the mouth of a dead carnivorous plant” Gwenzaline says he can’t die because he’s in his werewolf form, that it’s a form she can grant people and asks if G would like it, G says she’s not sure and Gwenzaline zooms towards her face and says “Are you sure you’re unsure” G says yes. Gwenzaline equips her with gloves, saying they were grant her partial lyncanthropy
- G feels a massive amount of energy but can’t figure it out (6 arcana)
- She hears a booming sound in the distance, Gwenzaline says Alastros will be there in 9 days
- Gwenzaline says “the more gifts I gives you, the harder it will be to communicate going forwards and you will have to actively seek me out, doesn’t have to be in prayer, just in earnest. All you have to do is...” G wakes up
Monday 21/05/2345
Micarafae wakes up
- Wakes up 30 minutes before dawn and gets ready, leaving a note saying where she is
- Sylvara is fast asleep
- M uses a charge from Breezy Mirage to disguise herself (1)
- M grabs her stuff heads to The Silver Hourglass Bathhouse & Spa
- Notices a guard on the public side and a new person on by the elite door, a young Human woman who is sitting at the table and rolling some dice
- M approaches he and says, “I was wondering if Miss Xeranova might be available to talk” (double nat 20 persuasion)
- The girl accidentally rolls her dice off the table and bends down to pick them up, apologising profusely, M bends down to help her pick them up, the girl accidentally bumps into M and continues to apologise before looking at her face and saying “You are the prettiest woman I’ve ever seen. Oh my gosh! Are you... That famous bard lady? You know, the one that makes up all the songs as she goes? I can’t remember her name, but you remind me of them. She was in this town, like... I don’t know...”
- M says, “You must be talking about a good friend of mine, Lorrica Windspire” The girl says “Yeah, that sounds right... You’re a friend of hers?” M says yes and that Lorrica is a real treasure” The girl says “Any you play music too? You sing?” M says “I do yes, sing, lyre, piano, violin, lute, I’m a lady of many talents”
- The girl seems in awe and says, “Oh my gods, you might be even more talented” M says, “I wouldn’t say that I have performed with her, and she is something else” The girl says “She’s a wicked lyricist. I have a firend who used to work here, and she has devoted her time to following her and recording the lyrics, writing them down, because Lorrica never remembers them!” She collects herself “You came here to see the boss lady?” M confirms
- The Girl says “You know what, um, follow me. I’ll take you up myself. I’ll lock the door, we’re not supposed to... it’s fine. I’ll put like “out for 10 minutes” or something” the grabs M by the hand, immediately forgetting what she just said she was going to do and begins to lead M upstairs. M quickly closes the door before she is dragged away
- M sees Garrin setting up the bar who gives her a wave and goes to say something but chooses not to seeing her get rushed through the room. M shouts “She’s at Genevieve’s” across the room and he returns with a thank you
- The girl takes her up to the hourglass room and tries to remember which room Xeranova was in saying “I think.... Minotaur lady in in here... I saw Xera go that way.... I think she is in the left room” and point to it then asks if M wants her to go knock on the door, M says she’s got it and maybe she should get back to minding the door before she gets in trouble, pressing a finger to her lips to say she won’t tell on her
- Before the girl leaves, she says “By the way, can you like, get me in with Lorrica?” M says, “I’d have to find her first, she’s a hard woman to track down” The girl agrees saying that her friend has be enchasing her for so long then says goodbye and runs off
- M approaches and knocks on the door but hears no response, so waits a second before knocking again, still nothing
- M checks if the door is unlocked which it is so she opens it slightly and pokes her head in
- The room is themed like a winter ice castle with a four-poster bed and a hot tub area and a small dining area
- M spots X is asleep in the bed, M takes a step into the room, knocks on the door again and says “Good morning sleepy head”
- X lets out a pained groan and says “Hello? I have a wicked headache” M says I have a feeling I know why.” X scoots up in bed so she’s sitting up a bit as M says, “So much for not helping us then”, M notices she’s wearing a really nice dress, but also that there are definite, heavy bruises on her arms. X says “Yeah, well I do what I can.” as she messages the back of her head
- M says “you didn’t have to do that. Are you ok?” X says she’ll be fine; she has friends in healing places. M says thank you and X says she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, M says “Mhmm, sure”
- X asks why M is there. M says “Because when a certain Minotaur was suspiciously absent last night...” X says “Like I said, I don’t know what you’re talking about”
- M says “Well, Nekros seemed to have an idea” X asks if he’s there, M says no and that they managed to scare him off, for now
- X says “Good, the last time I saw him, he killed...Let’s just say he’s aan unsavoury person” M says “Oh, very much so” and X asks “does he still has that girl with him” M says they were able to get her out of there and she’s now safe at Genevieve’s. X’s eyes seem to brighten slightly upon hearing this
- X says “Interesting, I would very much like to meet this woman” M says she will have to bring it up to Jineyih. X seems pleased
- M sits down on the foot of the bed and X rings a little bell by the bed side table and the girl from the door pops her head in and says “Yes Xera, I mean Mistress Xeranova” X asks if she could bring them something to eat and asks M what she would like, M asks what she would suggest and X says “Anything from the bakery in town is just divine” The girl nods her head and begins to run off, M quickly adding “And a tea please”
- X looks to M and says “Well, what brings you he besides thanking me, anything?” M says “I will admit, that even before Zalthea’s suspicious absence, I had already been thinking about coming to see you again” X says “Oh? Do tell?”
- M says “The fact that you seem to recognise me, I am very curious about this. I have been racking my brain, and I cannot think where I would know you from” X says, “You’ve been to town before, haven’t you?” M says “Not into town, as such, more around the bluffs...”
- “Well, you’re not the only one who... hides the way she looks. If you know what I’m saying” M tries to decern whether X can see she is disguised or that she can see through the disguise, settling on the former (7 insight)
- M says “I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeves” X responds “As a clever girl should”
- The girl from earlier comes back in and has a plate with some lemon tarts and turnovers which she puts on the bed between the two of them before zooming off again
- X leans over to grab a lemon tart, takes a bite and says “You came to town with... a man. A man I don’t see here, or heard is in town. Are you no longer with him?”
- M tries not to have a panic attack (15 wis save) and is able to keep her calm, taking a deep breath before answering “I... escaped from him about 6 months ago...” X says “I thought I read something about something somewhere from someone”
- M pulls out the most recent newspaper article about it and presents it to X
- X smiles and says “Well, you are a clever girl” M says she tries
- X asks, “Why are you so interested in Zalthea, what can I expect from a relationship between the two of you?” M says “Ideally, we will be able to... sort something out, so to speak, before the end of the week, when we seem to be fated to do battle”
- X says “Well, let me tell you something, the sooner the better. And I wouldn’t engage with that one”
- M says she did have a plan, and wondered if X might aid her in it. X says “Aid you?! Don’t you have friends for that? Do they know you’re here?” M says “I left a note... They all need that sleep thing” X says “Most of us do”
- M says “Yes, I have friends, but they don’t have a place that Zalthea frequents” X says “Why don’t we meet again, and we can discuss things further. I have to make myself presentable. We are going to open for business very soon. We will talk.”
- M grabs her hand and says “Thank you, you didn’t have to do that” X kisses her hand and looks at M as she blushes slightly, then gets up and walks around her then over to a wardrobe, looking over her shoulder and saying “You can go now” M gives her a nod and says “You take care of yourself, yeah?” X gives her a curt nod and M thinks she caught a faint smile as she turned her head before the door shuts behind her (9 perception)
- M heads back to Genevieve’s stopping at the Scarlet Spire on the way to post a Letter to Thizzar and a Letter to Sparky Penwhistle, using illusory script on them both
Back at Genevieve’s
- M uses another charge for disguise self (1)
- M finds a seat by the window and starts working on translating the next spell
- Alaric walks in to start his shift and waves to M
- M says, “Good morning hun” and Alaric blushes slightly, M is able to tell that he has a little crush (16 insight)
- M doesn’t get very far into translating before S wakes up, finds her note and comes out to look for her
- S bursts into the room, sees M there and flies over to her, asking her if she went out, M says she did and S says “I think I’ve been asleep forever” M says it has been a while and it sounds like she needed the rest, S agrees
Kree’s room
- K wakes up and finds a ball made of extremely thin crystal by her feet, positing it would only need the slightest about of pressure to shatter it. Her intrusive thoughts tell her to swallow it or shove it up her butt
- She picks it up and has a look at it, noting that it seems even more lifelike now than in her dream (14 investigation)
- K taps it against the frame of the bed and it instantly crumbles in her hand, allowing her to come into contact with the mammoth inside and learn the Sporebound Bone Mammoth Wildshape Form
- She feels like she might be about to wildshape uncontrollably but is able to get control of it (22 wisdom save) which is a very good thing because it would not be a great thing for a mammoth to suddenly appear in a small basement room
- She senses that this form was created just for her
- K sorts her spells for the day, gets ready and heads up to the common area
Common area cont.
- M asks S how she is feeling
- S says “That feels like a lot to unpack, thought I feel like I’ve missed out on a lot” m responds “Oh boy did you, we have a lot to catch you up on” then reaching to her side and says “I promise this isn’t a euphemism, but can you touch my sword?” and puts The Ash Song out on the table in front of her
- S grabs the hilt before holding it up and giving it a few swings saying “This is a really cool sword” M says Korbus gave it to her and S says “Korbus, that rings a bell actually. I think that was one of the ancient gods in my notes. If I could only remember. Gosh I need coffee” M calls Alaric over and asks if he can get S a coffee and tea for her
Gwinri’s room
- G wakes up, makes sure she’s not still bleeding and starts to put her gear back on, noticing she’s wearing the Bracers of Lunar Fangs, noting that she can’t seem to take them off
- She is able to glean some of what the bracers can do (13 arcana)
- G heads downstairs to join the rest in the common area
Bruzrik’s room
- B wakes up and examines Zaolu's Crucible and hears a voice in his head saying “Identifying... Bruzrik; Zaolu approved, how may I help you” he says “Nothing for now” it responds, “Would you like to repair or alchemise? Would you like to forge?” He says no thank you and it shuts off, falling into his hand and he puts it in his bag
- B then tests out the new thing he learned, casting mage hand and high fiving himself
- B also notices that Zaolu left him with the pipe that he gave him in the dream last night
- He then dons his gear and heads up tp the common area
Common area
- The rest of the group walk in seeing a hafling couple at one of the tables, Alaric and Genevieve and Sylvara who is awake, healed and chatting to M and drinking coffee from a comically large mug
- M asks if anyone has checked on Lady Jineyih and before anyone can answer she walks into the room to join everyone else
- They all exchange good mornings and check in on J, asking how she’s feeling, she says “You know, I’m feeling ok. I slept well.... um, did any of you have. Oh, never mind” M completes her sentence for her, saying “Dreams?” J says yeah and M tells her that they have a lot to fill her in on
- M looks to the rest of the group and says “Yeah, she’s a champion. It’s really good we got her out” K says “welcome to the team” and J asks “What do you mean champion?”
- M asks if she met anyone in her dream, J says she met a large snow leopard woman with brilliant, bright blue eyes who scared the living daylights out of her by aiming a giant bow at her, but pulled back and they had a very brief chat before she woke up and that there were a lot of loud noises and animals in the background
- M asks if the woman told J her name, she says “No, we had just started chatting and she was throwing a lot of questions at me and I was just responding, but the very first question I asked, I woke up” The group relate to the experience
- J looks distraught and says, “I feel like I’ve been there before, several time actually, but this was the first time I actually saw a person, you know?”
- M says, “I would be willing to bet that you have been there before but thanks to whatever spell Nekros had over you, you don’t remember it” J flinches at the mention of the name
- M looks at J and S and says “I think I may be able to help with that, if you would allow me to. And I understand if this requires more trust, no pressure, but I am able to use detect thoughts, if you would allow me to. I might be able to see if I can find anything in either of your memories that you maybe don’t have access to”
- J says “That sounds like a good plan, but I would really like to see Corvin before I do anything” M says “Of course.” looks to S and J and says “I have a disguise kit, I can disguise both of you if you would feel safer walking through town like that”
- S says “Yeah people are after me. I don’t mind following you guys” J decides not to be disguised
- M suggests they all head to The Radiant Hall and come up with a game plan
- B casts mage hand again and uses it to go into the kitchen and grab a loaf of bread, Alaric tries to stop it, running after it but B moves it faster causing Alaric to fall into a sack of grains as he tries to grab it. M stifles a giggle as she watches then B high fives the mage hand again, it gives him a thumbs up before disappearing and B eats the bread
- M asks if he learned some new tricks he says “more than a few”
- M warns J that Corvin is currently in a cell because he did try to kill them, J puts an arm on G’s shoulder and says, “Tell me true, is Corvin hurt?” K says, “he’s a little bruised but all in all, he’ll be alright” J says she hopes so and K says “It seems you’ve both had the same condition inflicted upon you. But I hope that things will get better once you two are back together”
- J says after the run it with Nekros she thought Corvin was dead and that she doesn’t know what happened to her, that time just seemed to stop and start and then she was with the group, and she has no idea how long it had been
- G and K hear her repeating “He’s not dead” under her breath and K gives her shoulder a reassuring squeeze
- Everyone heads out and towards The Radiant Hall
The Radiant Hall
- The group arrive at The Radiant Hall, seeing Lady Alya outside working in the garden who offers a wave as they approach, and they exchange greetings
- Alya Looks to S and says, “Good to see you’re up” S thanks her
- M asks if Commander Althea is in, Alya says she is, but she is still asleep, M asks if it would be possible to wake her and Alya leads them into the war room to wait while she goes to fetch her
- About 10 minutes later a sleepy Althea enters the room, not in her armour but just a robe over her nightclothes
- She says good morning to the group and M says, “good morning, sorry to have woken you” Althea says “No, no, this is when people are supposed to wake up” B says, “That is false!”
- Althea’s eyes land on J and she asks, “Who is this?” M says “This is Lady Jineyih, the one Corvin spoke of” Althea responds in recognition and says “I’m pretty sure Alya was the one who saw him this morning, I’m assuming things are fine, she gave me a really quick update, apparently all his wounds are healed, he’s a little loud, but he’s locked up...”
- M asks if it would be possible to either go see him or bring him here, Althea takes out the keys, explaining which ones are for which locks and hands them to M who turns to J and asks if she would like to wait here or come with, J says “If it’s all the same with you, I’d like to go alone” M looks to the rest of the group to see what they think before handing her the keys
- B says he would rather someone go with her and M asks if she would mind if someone went with her
- J says that’s fine, and points to G saying she can go with her and M hands the keys to J who starts walking out of the room with G in tow
- G and J walk down the stairs, seeing a few cells, all empty save for one which contains Corvin who is just wearing his under-armour layers, lying on the floor facing the back wall and talking to himself while scratches at the stone with his fingers
- G lets J walk towards the cell, but readies herself just in case
- J calls out to Corvin, who stops mid scratch but does not respond, she walks right up to the bars and calls to him again, he turns around, looking like he hasn’t slept much, if at all. His eyes go wide before turning around again and saying “You’re not here”
- J falls to her knees and calls out again, Corvin responding with “you’re not here, he took you away, he killed you, you’re just a puppet” J says, “I’m right here, come talk to me!” He doesn’t respond and goes back to scratching the stone
- J starts sobbing a little bit and stands up, still watching him as G gently takes her hand and starts leading her back and says “I think we need to give him some time”
- J looks G in the eyes and says, “I thought he would be dead, not broken” and they both walk back to the war room
- The rest of the group see G walk in with a sobbing J. M seeing this stand up and walks over, holding out her hand and asking, “May I?” J hands her the keys
- M looks to the room to say she’s going to go down there, if anyone would like to accompany her and B steps forward
- G explains what just happened before B and M head down and M says “Let’s see if I can talk some sense into him”
- K decides to stay with the rest and J sits at the table, looks at K and says “How do you get through to someone who has convinced themself a lie is the truth”
- K says, “The best I can say is give them time and try to work with them, don’t try to force anything on them” J grabs her hand and they both feel the buzzing and says, “Do we have the time, realistically?”
Talking to Corvin
- M and B head down, locking the door behind them before heading to the cell
- M goes to put the key in the lock, gives B a look to say she’s about to go in and B hold out his hand to say to give him the key before she goes in just in case, so she unlocks the cell, hands the keys to B and walks in
- M kneels down beside Corvin and gently calls his name, he responds with “You!? You’re back” M says, “I am, and I’ve brought someone who would really like to speak with you” he asks who and M says, “you know who” He says “That’s not her, he did something to her, that’s not her”
- M says “It is her. It’s true, he did do something to her, but we were able to convince him to let her come with us” He responds with “You did what?! No, you didn’t” B leans against the cell and says, “I told him if he didn’t give her back there would be severe consequences” (8 intimidation) M says “And I held him at sword point, looked him dead in the eyes and told him to let her stay”
- M senses that he’s unconsciously casting a spell (nat 20 arcana, 3 arcana for B) his voice booms 3 times as loud and the flames grow larger as he screams “you’re lying!” before returning to normal and continuing “There’s no way you bested Nekros. He’s planning to destroy this town. We were supposed to do it for him”
- M says, “Look me in the eyes” (21 persuasion) and Corvin turns around, M sensing that he truly doesn’t believe anything they’re saying, but he is listening to what she is about to say. She gives him a calm, gentle looks and says “We managed it, somehow. We got her out safe and she is here”
- Corvin starts rocking back and forth a little bit, one eye twitching slightly as he says “Do you know how many dryads I killed in the name of Nekros? Do you know what you stopped the other day?” M says “We got some indication of the potential” Corvin continues “Those beats were supposed to be unleashed on townsfolk, but instead he had to revert to a different plan that I’m assuming didn’t happen either” M says it didn’t and Corvin says “Can you imagine what he’s going to do next”
- M says, “That’s why we’re going to stop him, if you will help us” He starts to look away, but looks back into M’s eyes and says, “And you trust me?” squinting at her a little. She says “I will be fully honest, and say that trust is kind of a rare thing for me, but I think we both know we’re each other’s best shot at survival”
- B speaks up and says “And your lady friend’s life is in my hands at this point I have sworn to protect her at all costs and if you wish for me to keep protecting her, you need to help us”
- Corvin walks up to B and says “You? You’re going to pledge to protect Jineyih? You promise this?” B says, “I’ve already sworn it, and by my dying breath I will stand by my oath” and M says she can attest to that (nat 20 persuasion)
- They can see him visibly relax a little, he takes a deep breath and says “I too am a spell caster and you’ve already seen a few things I can do. I will help” M thanks him
- B holds up the key to unlock the manacles and says “Now, know this; if you cross me, I will crush you” Corvin stands resolute and says, “What can I do?” M says, “that’s what we’re about to try and figure out, if you would join us upstairs” and he agrres
- Corvin asks if they would like to seal this in blood or if his word is enough, M looks at the two of them as if to see “I’m staying out of this, but you do you”
- B holds his hand out to M and says, “May I borrow your dagger” and she hands it to him
- Corvin looks to B and says, “you will protect Jineyih, and I am your ‘til the end, once Nekros’ head lies at our feet "and hold out his hand
- B adds “Should I fail in my oath my life shall be forfeit” and slashes both of their palms and they join hands, sealing the pact
- M hands Corvin the dagger that she took from him during the fight
- The three of them start to head upstairs and M can feel he’s on the thinking about casting a spell again, but not one that will do any harm, she walks up beside him and asks what he’s thinking about, noting him seems nervous
- He looks to B and M and says, “I almost want to look like someone else right now” M asks why, and he sighs “You think she’ll take me back?” M says, “I think so” and B says “I think if you stop yelling at her she will”
- M says “Once we got her out of the trance, the first thing she said was that she wanted to come see you, she seemed incredibly relieved you were still alive” he gives a resolute nod and decides to cast disguise self, but only changing the appearance of his clothes so he looks a bit more put together and has given himself large violet and thorn-like wings and takes a deep breath
- “M looks at him and says “I know he took your wings; he took hers too and I’m sorry that happened to you” to both express sorrow and to forewarn him of what he will see when he sees J again
- He looks down, nods and then continues walking
Back in the War Room
- B, M and C rejoin the rest in the war room, J seeing C and running to him, wrapping her arms around him and through the wings she knows to be an illusion and they both cry in each other's arms before finding a spot in the corner to have a semiprivate moment to talk
- Althea asks the rest of the group what their plans for the day are, M says they have some planning to do for the coming week. S says she saw a fortune tellers' tent and would like to go, in a way that is almost childlike, M telling her they can do that later
- M turns to Althea and says, “A lot of shit is going down, the entire town is at risk, will you help us?” Althea says of course and asks if M can tell her more about what’s happening, M saying she was about to do just that, and Althea asks if she should call in Alya. M nods
- After giving J and C a moment and once Althea and Alya are both in the room, M gets up and directs the attention to herself saying “If you’re going to be helping us, I think it’s only fair that you know who I am” and allows her disguise to drop
- She continues “Up until about six months ago, I was known as Lady Micarafae Mildmore, wife of Lord Blen Mildmore" Both Althea and Alya have a little spark of recognition upon hearing the name. M continues “And I have reason to believe that my former husband has something to do with what is going on right now” then proceeds to relay all the information she has currently to the rest of the group as well as what they do know about the lost pantheon of gods that seem to have chosen them as their champions
- Both Althea and Alya look shocked and intrigued upon hearing about this
- M mentions what she knows of Skurth through what Korbus told her
- C says “Well you’ve already sussed this out yourselves, but Zalthea has spent almost the entire time we’ve been in Ravenswood at the baths, she rarely spends time out of it. The last time we didn’t find her there she had spent some time hunting in the forest, she had probably spent too much time not hurting something and went ouit to kill some animals or any unlucky folks”
- B says “The more I hear about this minotaur, the more I feel I need to just beat the crap out of her” M says she had some thoughts about that and says “Before everyone woke up, I may have gone to see Xeranova... and she was visibly bruised” S asks what that means and M says “Nekros was right, she was indeed’fucking the Tiefling’” S blushes
- C says, “surprised she’s alive” M just nods solemnly the continues “I have talked to Xeranova about her potentially aiding us and she seems open to the idea. We haven’t talked specifics yet but what I’m thinking is, we know where she frequents, we know she has expressed interest in myself and Kree, and that she seems to like to indulge” M hold up The Elixir of Deep Slumber and says “And we know that this potion, if someone drinks it, cannot be woken by physical means for an hour”
- Alya speaks up and says that Xeranova is probably going to want to keep up appearances, so they’ll have to plan it carefully, Althea adding that there's so many chances for things to go wrong
- M says, “I was going to suggest that we show up with some wine that has been spiked by said potion and once she is asleep and cannot be woken, we...” and draws her hand across her neck, miming slicing her throat “We get rid of her as quickly as we can”
- B says “Like I said, I don’t care how it happens, she’s dying. Everything I learn about this woman screams that I need to kill her” C says, “I’m with the Dragonborn” and M says, “I’m going to ask Xeranova is she would have a problem with us attempting such at the baths” B adding that he can dispose of the body with his acid breath
- M says she will talk to X, adding “Oh btw, she knows who I am” B says “Fantastic, really love that I’m just finding this out now” and J asks “This Xeranova, just curious, did she know who you are before, or did you show her?” M says “She knew, when we met yesterday, she asked if she knew me from somewhere and today, she confirmed that she did me” J asks, “you you or old you?” M gestures to herself and sais “She recognised who had been known to the world for the last 10 years as Lady Micarafae Mildmore”
- J asks what they do now and Micarafae says “I suggest we prioritise talking care of Zalthea, finding out as much information as we can about where Nekros and Lunae will be and what their plans are and thwarting them if we can” I think it would be a good idea to try and find any of the other champion”
- M remembers that Nekros said he was going to be bringing a friend and that said friend is not here yet (15 history, B 5, G & K 10) she mentions such and suggests they find a way to try and intercept their arrival if possible
- M turns to Althea and says “I know Blen and Draekos Dawnspire didn’t have a particularly friendly relationship.” Althea says “Yeah, Dawnspire doesn’t like any of the nobles, despite being one himself” M asks, “Do you think he would be willing to aid us?” Althea sighs, looks at Alya who shrugs in return and says “Nobody’s really talked to him in earnest since his project has started to really show... He’s nearing the end of his big plans, none of really know quite what he’s doing, but he’s been sending out so many cardinals. He’s got something big planned, but it’s been months, he hasn’t really taken many, if any visitors. Do you think you will be welcomed in?”
- M says “The missing wife of a nobleman showing up on his doorstep and asking for help should at least warrant a conversation”
- B remembered the Dragonborn lady who kept thinking he was a Human (16 history)
- M says “It’s worth a shot. Honestly, I really don’t want to do this but there is far more than just me at stake here”
- The group talk about what they want to do next, deciding to stay together and go to the magic shop to see about the ring and S
- M suggests they dedicate some time to getting to know each other since it seems they’re in this for the long run
- M rolls a 3 for disguise self with Breezy Mirage
The Enchanted Trinket
- The group arrive at The Enchanted Trinket and start to peruse
- The shops owner is a Half Elf named Moritha Shadewind
Shopping
- B buys the Bands of the Found and Lost for 35gp
- M tries to haggle for some Healing Arrows (28 persuasion) and is able to convince Moritha to bring the price down from 30gp each to 10gp each and buys 3
- Mortiha also offers M a Bottled Seabreeze for 1gp M asks what it does, and she says it releases fresh salty air when you open it, Moritha looks sad
- K asks about the Devil’s Detail Eyepatch and what it means by “a drop of your own vitality.” (8 persuasion) Moritha tells her not to worry about what it says, it doesn’t hurt. K, B, G and M all try to tell if she’s lying so she can sell the thing, K thinks she’s being truthful (insight 6) G thinks she’s lying (5 insight) M thinks se she’s most likely telling the truth (16 insight) and B can tell she’s telling the truth (nat 20 insight)
- B and M tell K that she’s being truthful
- B asks about Couatl’s Herald’s Guard (Shield) and how much of the damage does it pass on to the wielder, Moritha tells him the details of the shield, he haggles it down from 300gp to 150gp and buys it
- G buys a Talisman of Dispelling for 35gp
- M is eyeing the Ear Cuff of the Vampire Bat and B tries to haggle for a lower price on the bat (nat 1 persuasion) Moritha says she can’t part with that for any less
- Moritha sees M and K eyeing the Doodle Ring and says she had to put up the price because kids kept buying them and making a mess around town
- K buys both Doodle Rings for 5gp each, 3 Talimans for 35gp each, the eyepatch 350 gp, The Ring of Roses for 15gp and the Tear of Gaia for 20gp
- Moritha leans in and offers K a bottled sea breeze and a Lantern of Whispering Flames (50gp)
- K asks about the lantern, and she says it recognises its owner, and the flame colour will change based on the strongest emotion you’re feeling
- M is eavesdropping (17 perception), hears her mention the flames and pulls out The Ash Song, making the flames dance a little just to show oof, Moritha is very interested in it
- Moritha whispers to K that it is usually purchased by suspicious spouses
- K says why not and buys them both and Moritha is ecstatic
Talking to Moritha
- Moritha asks if there’s anything else she can do for the group and M steps forwards asking if she could take a look at something for them, Moritha asks if she can see it and M looks to B for him to take it out
- B takes the ring out and holds it up for her
- she reaches into a draw and pulls out some magnifying google things and puts them on and has a look at the ring before saying “Whoa... um, what is this? Where’d you get this?” M winces Moritha says “It’s fine. I’ll buy it for you, how much to you want” M responds with an immediate “No. Just tell me what it does.”
- Moritha says “It looks like it has 2, maybe three enchantments on it. You’d have to leave this with me for a day and I can probably figure it out, but right off the cuff, all I can tell you is that is has a couple enchantments on there, a couple of them activate when worn”
- M asks if they could be removed Moritha says “Yeah, they could definitely be removed but I’d be worried about that third enchanted on here, I think it’s specifically about removing the magic on here, kind of like a defensive something”
- M says “That bastard” under her breath
- Moritha says she could have some answers for her noon tomorrow if she leaves the ring with her and warns against wearing it. M agrees to leave it with her. Moritha says she doesn’t mind closing now and working on it until tomorrow as they have bought quite a bit from her
- M can tell she is being genuine (19 insight)
- M says, “You wouldn’t happen to know anything about sorcerers losing their magic, would you?” Moritha says “I’m not an expert on it but off the cuff I would say... demonic activity, giving something up to get something, warlock pacts potentially, there might be myths of creatures that could do such a thing, but I’ve never witnessed it”
- (tangent about butt stuff)
- M asks, “If someone was to come to you, someone who had lost their powers, would you be able to discern anything more” Moritha asks if they know how they lost their powers and M says “no and they seem to be losing their memories as well”
- Moritha says “Memories though. Memories is a different beast. I don’t think I’d be able to work on two things at once, so you’d have to decide. I can do one then the other. I’d have to do a little research on the memory stuff, but I think I have a lead” M says she doesn’t mind waiting for the ring
- Moritha asks if she could send her friend to her first thing in the morning and M says “I can do you one better, she’s already here” and points to S
- S comes over, walking a little weirdly because of the disguise and puts on a deep voice, introducing herself as Thomas. M says “it’s ok, we think she might be able to help you figure out what happened to your magic” S immediately drops the act and perks up
- S extends her to Moritha and says, “Despite what I currently look like, my name’s Sylvara” Moritha introduces herself and says “Let’s see what we can do for you”
- Moritha puts the ring in a little safe with a magical lock and says “Do you want to come by first thing tomorrow morning? I’ll be ready by then; I can spend tonight researching” M says that would be wonderful and thanks her
- Moritha runs over to the window and flips the sign to say closed and says “I have to make a visit to a friend in town about this and we’ll see what we can do” M asks if she can try not to let word get out too much and Moritha says she will head right there and ushers the group out
- M notices some Thieves' cant that suggests looking more in the market square
