General Summary

Astraday 23/05/2345

Waking up

M is thrown out of bed and through the wall, landing in bed between C and J (nat 20 Dex save)
The wall M burst though is smouldering and charred, as is the rest of the stuff in her room
M says good morning to C and J before rushing back towards the room to check on Alaric and start to put out the fires
C leaps out of bed, reaching into a pouch and pulling out what looks like a skull on a stick with glowing eyes as he assesses the situation
J is trying to check on M as well as trying to figure out what’s going on
M jumps back through the hole in the wall to find the entire room charred and singed and no sign of Alaric
M is able to discern that whatever wave a force hit her in Korbus’s realm would not have done anything to kill Alaric and there is no sign of him having been harmed (19 Perception) but he is gone, and she doesn’t know why (5 investigation)
M tried to reach out to Alaric using message asking, “Where are you?” and not getting any response, coming to the conclusion that he is either unconscious or more than 120 feet away
M looks to C and J and says, “We need to find Alaric” They look a bit confused and ask if they should check his place, M says “No, he was here, and now he’s not”
C and J exchange a look and decide the others should probably be retrieved
C is investigating the room trying to figure out what happened, and M starts to put out any remaining smoulders while trying to reach out to B, G and K via message
K and G both woke up at the sound of the crash and hear M saying “Help!” as they do, B remains asleep
K and G both rush into M’s room, seeing the hole in the wall and the charred room as well as a distressed M
M looks at G and says “Explain later. Alaric missing”
Upon entering the room G feels a weird sensation that seems to be tied to her connection to Gwenzaline
M grabs The Ash Song and tries to reach out to Korbus but doesn’t quite manage to get through to him (charisma 14)
G feels that connection to Gwenzaline but quickly loses it (strength nat 1) but still feels a tingling of God energy. Like the feeling she has in Gwenzaline’s realm, not realising it had a feeling until she felt it in the real world
G says that it feels weird in the room and M runs up to her, grabbing her hands and blurts out “I was in Korbus’s realm and there was a wall of fire, and I got thrown out and Alaric is gone” and squeezes G’s hands
M remembers that when she arrived in Korbus’s realm she felt hot, painfully hot, when she hadn’t experienced that before and that is subsided when Korbus his power/control with his consciousness and must not have seen the traveling wave of force that ejected her from his realm (history 19)
M also notices that she should have woken up about 4 hours ago and surmises that she must have also been affected by the time dilation for the period that Korbus was out
M, still flustered looks to G and says “There was this weird, because y’know, elves, trance... it’s been more than 4 hours. I know Korbus was saying that Gwenzaline like did something to his realm that made time all fuck and I think that ‘cause he was like, unconscious when I got there, and it was like, hot and then when he was like back to normal, it wasn’t hot. And then I got thrown out... But Gwenzaline did something to the time and then that affected me?” G says “that would explain the weird feeling”
M wonders if Alaric got sucked in to Korbus’s realm when she was ejected from it and G says that’s what she was wondering too
B awakens to a metal orb repeatedly bumping into his head and hears it saying “Master Bruzrik, Master Bruzrik” He grabs it, and it says “Potential danger upstairs”
B draws his flail and makes his way upstairs as he asks what kind of danger it’s detecting, it responds with “an explosion. Need more data”
B gets to M’s room and sees the state of things, and everyone gathered there
B tells the crucible to analyse the area, and it scans around
M turns to b and says, “Alaric’s gone” B sighs
M reaches out to the Melodyborn Elemental given to her by Korbus and asks if they are ok and they chirp and tilt their head

Talking to Korbus

M keeps a hand on them and looks to the group and says, “I don’t know if it’s going to do anything, but I need to reach Korbus, can you help?” (charisma 17)
J bends down and places a hand on top of M’s (9)
B also kneels down and places his hand on hers and the crucible also floats down and affixes itself to the chest of the bird (strength 11)
K joins and puts her hand in (Wisdom 21), as does G (strength 24)
As they are doing that V walks in looking awfully sleepy and asks what everyone is doing, M tells him she needs him to touch her bird and he says, “That is the strangest request to get first thing in the morning, but ok” and joins the group as well (21)
The bird lights up and starts glowing as everyone feels a warmth and joy emanating from them and all of them are able to hear the voice of Korbus (103 total)
Korbus says “Kiddo? Is that you?” M responds “Yes. What.... um... what the fuck happened?” Korbus replies “I haven’t heard from you in two months” M says she literally just woke up and Korbus says “Well, you know how I’m really bad with time? Well turns out I got a new friend here, very good with time. You might know this lad” M asks “How?” and he says “Yeah, I’ve been trying to communicate with you, some interference or something. Maybe might be the last time I pull you out that way” M says “That’s probably for the best”
Korbus says “So next time you come here, you gotta take this one back. Right now, I’ve got him doing something productive” M asks if he’s ok and Korbus says “Oh yeah, once he realised where he was, we had a good long chat, and I knew he was a special friend of yours anyways. He’s doing ok”
M gets a little embarrassed knowing everyone is hearing this and is most definitely blushing
Korbus says “You’ve got a real strong connection, what are you doing differently this time?” M says “Us, everyone else is helping” Korbus asks “who’s everyone else” and M tells him who is with her
B says hi and Korbus says “Ah, why couldn’t you have sent him to my realm” B says “Too late, I’m spoken for”
Korbus says “But kiddo, I’ve got one thing to talk to you about, since the minute we’re done with this call, time’s gonna go back to being wonky again. If I wasn’t able to get through to you, I was gonna start training this boy up” M replies “Might not be a silly idea anyway, if he’s up for it”
Korbus says “He’s been here for 2 months and the denizens of my realm here, they train a lot, so he doesn’t really got much to do. Just making sure you’re ok with it” M says, “It’s his decision not mine” and Korbus replies “Oh, he’s been asking/ He saw the goatfolk, the Lizardfolk, the centaurs, they’ve been fighting manticores, chimera, you know, he wants in. He’s skinny that boy, though” M says, “Maybe he’ll be able to beat Giuseppe next time” Korbus asks if she thinks he could use that on him, and she says he probably can
Korbus says “Don’t worry, he’s in good hands, but like I said, don’t be too long” M says “I will do my best, just tell him I say hi, and I’m sorry”
Korbus pauses before saying “I know you got all your friend here with you, but it’s not your fault, we didn’t know this was gonna happen”
G gets the feeling from the connection to Korbus’ realm that if get the sense that if M can't make the window tonight a whole year is going to pass for Alaric (14 intelligence)
B says “So Korbus, we found a sword recently and I was told you knew it’s owner” Korbus says “Well I think you already know the answer to that” B says “I was told you used to be close” Korbus replies “Close isn’t really the exact word I’d use, but yeah, we were friendly at the time. Towards the end of our freedom, you might say”
B says, “Do you have any ideas of ways to deal with him?” Korbus says “He is a master of trickery, deception and his powers reflect the same” If you think you’ve found one of his champions, double check and think again. If you guys think it might be this big bad Nekros, you might think it’s Lunae, it could be. We can’t tell for sure unless you your thing where you hear the buzzing”
K asks how many champions a god can have, Korbus says “one male and one female as far as I know” M says “How binary”
B says “I know he can possess people but is there any way to tell when someone is possessed by him” M comments on the gold sliver in his eye.
Korbus says “I think if you’re wondering, I highly doubt he’s able to leave, even with his powers. But I wouldn’t put it past him to give that power to one of his own, if you catch my drift, so be very careful” B says “That’s what I was afraid of”
Korbus continues “I’m not saying mistrust everyone but definitely look out for shady behaviour. If you think it’s Lunae, find people who act like her, you think it’s Nekros, find people who act like Nekros. I don't know exactly the rules of how it works but I know it’s possible”
M asks “If Nekros is Skurth’s champion and he was possessing someone else would we feel that if we touched the person he was possessing” Korbus replies “Kiddo, I don’t know. That’s a great question; it’s a theory you’ll have to test. Millenia ago, there wasn’t buzzing, it was rare, if ever, for our champions interact, if anything I feel like something is coming, because the champions are being called sooner and sooner. Back when we were first imprisoned, a champion would die and it could be 100 years before the next one came, but lately, a champion would die and maybe a month later a new one would be called”
M tries to recall if S ever stated how long she was working on the research for, remembering that it was around 5 years ago that she was captured and that she seemed to be the one who pulled them all together and wonders if there is any further connection and correlation to the increased frequency
M says “I wonder if it was something to do with Sylvara’s research. Where is she?” K mentions that she was at Joey’s
M thinks for a moment before saying “If Nekros can potentially possess people, and she’s just spent the night with someone...” K says she didn’t get any of those vibes from him and M says “How do we know if someone is possessed by Nekros. Because when we first met him, I didn’t get any. I kind of just got means well but chaotic vibes from him, but who knows what could have happened between...”
Korbus says “I might not be able to help you exactly with who the champions are but if Skurth’s possession power is anything like his own, he can’t hide the original colour of his eyes, or something from his eyes, so I bet his champions wouldn’t be able to change the colours of their eyes” M says Nekros had green eyes
Korbus says “Hey, one of your friends is Gwenzaline’s kid, right?” G says that would be her and Korbus says “Hey next time you see the...” he goes to say something and stops himself, trying to find a nicer way to say it. “... Wolf lady, could you maybe her to give you something to maybe pass on to Micarafae and she can maybe bring it here and maybe put time back?” G says she will look into is and Korbus says if she does, he will make it worth her while
M says, “Sounds like you two have beef, I mean... not... Sure I’m gonna go with beef” Korbus fully snorts as she says it and seems rather amused. M says she’ll have to ask him about it later
V says his arm is starting to get tired and asks if he has to keep touching the bird before pulling his arm away and everyone else hears a little bit of interference which Korbus comments on and asks what changed, M explains and V puts his hand back but already severed his connection so nothing happens
M is going over all the notes she needs to take in her head before giving a look to everyone else to see if they have anything else to say
B says he needs to go kick in a door and G lets M know about the timeframe and Korbus says “It’s all in the hands of the fates now, I wish you the best luck kiddo” M says “Look after him” and Korbus replies “I will, I’ll make sure he doesn’t get roughed up too much, I’ll make sure the boys don’t do that. Actually, it’s the girls you gotta watch out for”
J then pulls her hand away, and C puts his arm around her then everyone else also pulls their hand away, with M being last to do so, lingering for a moment
The crucible detaches itself from the bird and floats back to B and M sits on the floor giving them some scratches in silence

Starting the Day

After a moment M says to the bird “I should probably figure out a name for you. What do you think about Ember?” They chirp happily as they hope up and down and M says “Well that’s settled then”
M gestures to Ember as she turns to the group and says “Everyone, meet Ember” as she does so the crucible hits B in the side trying to hint that it also wants a name
B decides to name Zaolu’s Crucible George Forgeman
M looks at B and says “Can your orb scan my bird? And that’s not a euphemism” B replies “Micarafae are you coming onto me?”
B tells George to Scan Ember and George floats over to them and they both exchange little bows before George starts to scan and says “Melodyborn Elemental, created by Korbus. There are a lot of hidden things I cannot discern, can change form?” M seems “Yes, seems to depend on which instrument is played” George says it has no further data and M asks if Ember can die, George says “Unknown. If they traits are anything much like an actual Phoenix, one would posit one life minimum. Assuming it takes the form of an egg as long as one would protect it, one would maybe assume that would work. This has been a data analysis from George Forgeman” and floats back to B
B stands up and looks to K and asks her to show him where S is
M stops him and says, “Don’t be too hard on her, if everything is, ok?” B says “I don’t think she’s the one you need to be worried about”
V says he must go board up his house and that he will be back at noon to meet with the group and B tells him to bring something small of Skylla’s so that he can use it to find her

Talking to Genevieve

K and B head out and G stays with M while she tries to clean up and mend what she can in the room and asks G if she can go get Genevieve so she can explain
G finds Genevieve wondering where Alaric is and says he’s never been late a day in his life and sends Giuseppe of to find him
G tells her that M needs to talk to her, and they walk back to the room
M explains that Alaric got pulled into another realm and she will have to go get him which she can hopefully do tonight
Genevieve says she will have to give the doorman (Norman) a temporary promotion and that she will arrange a new room for M
M says she will pay for whatever repairs needs to be done and apologises for everything
J says she wants to go find the old man and help him train some people up
M mentions that she was going to work on making some flyers for free self-defence lessons to try and get more people going to train and J says she could try get some of the kids selling papers to also share that was happening
M mentions also trying to set up a community watch type thing so that there are more people around and willing to deal with any attacks that may happen on the town that they can’t be there for
M also asks J to learn his name because she keeps forgetting to ask
C says he’s going to go visit The Radiant Hall to see what he can do there

Joey’s House

K leads B to Joey’s house and K knocks on his door and gets no response
B tells her to let him try and kicks the door in (18 str)
B ducks down and pulls himself through the door and sees a lot of betting slips and lots of things about gambling and IOU notes (12 per)
S and Joey are asleep in the bed and both start awake and Joey grabs for a weapon
B turns to them with a smile and says “Good morning”
S yells at B to close his eyes and turns around because she’s not wearing anything under the sheets
Joey lowers his crossbow and bemoans the loss of the door K says she’ll pay for it
K and B turn around and S and Joey both get dressed
S asks what they need and B says there have been some developments, she says, “that’s nice” and B stares at her and says, “Involving a certain friend of ours” S gets the hint and ask if something happened, B says they will tell her later
B is staring down Joey and he says, “You know what, I actually have stuff to do today, I guess our lunch date is cancelled?” S shrugs and B says, “I would say it probably is” Joey says “Cool, so tonight, if you’re free, Jolly Jackalope?” S says, “I might have important shit to do” he says he’ll be there tonight if she changes her mind
B gestures towards the door
K notices Joey has blue eyes
B tells K to take S back to Genevieve’s and K tells B not to hurt Joey, B promises he’ll be able to walk away
K says it was nice to see Joey again and that she’s sorry it had to be this way
S scrunches her face at B and he gives her his politest smile, S pouts
S flutters over and gets on K’s back

Heading back (Kree & Sylvara)

S relaxes on K’s back and says, “I hope this isn’t too much information, but I had a great night last night!” K says she’s glad to hear and S thanks her for not telling anyone until she had to
K says “I’m just glad you were able to enjoy your night. Now we will have to be careful because as Bruzrik said, we have learned a little bit more about our friend, as he put it but...” and proceeds to fill S in on everything they learned this morning as they fly through town
K asks about her night, and S says Joey is originally from the feywild, he was born there, and he paid a lot of money to get as safe a passage from the feywild to here. She also says that he has a lot of really cool hand crossbows that can shoot firebolts and they spent some time shooting them during the night.
S says “He asked me for a lunch date, if I wasn’t doing anything, not that I... Obviously, what we do is more important” K asks if she was looking forward to it and S says “Well, if I can do a little bit of everything why not right?”
K reiterates that she’s glad her night went well, and S says, “I wish your guys night went better, poor Alaric” K says “we did get some more info from Zalthea so it’s not all bad”
S says “So, how buff do you think he’s going to be when he gets back?” K says, “I hadn’t actually thought about that, that’s a good question” S says, “Maybe he’ll be as good at swords as Bruzrik or something” K says that would be a sight to see. S adds “Wouldn’t that be crazy?! I can’t picture him being anything other than sexy bartender man”

Joey’s House cont.

B picks up some of the papers from the table, specifically looking for debts while Joey is picking up pieces of the door
B, reading through the papers “So, you like to Gamble, Mr. Swiftarrow?” Joey gives him a side eye and says, “You like to gamble?” B gives him a long, hard stare
Joey says “Well, I think you can tell I do. Actually, hold on a sec” and he opens a drawer searching for a particular piece of paper before continuing “What’s your name again?” B says “Bruzrik.” and Joey says, “I don’t think that matches” and smacks the paper with his hand and says “I guess it couldn’t have been you, you look so familiar. Well anyway, there was this crazy one like, like a night or two ago, I can’t remember exactly, and I won a tonne of money. Nobody seemed to bet on these two fighters that we had in there and it became a big brawl with four fighters in there, it was crazy! I made so much money that night”
B asks if he often makes money at The Iron Pit, Joey says “No, but when I win, I usually can cover all my debts, sometimes, like honestly, a few nights ago, I got money to spare”
B asks if he’s ever had anyone try to collect debts in other ways and Joey asks if he means people trying to come for him, B says he meant more in the way of asking for favours. Joey asks what kind of favours
B says, “I just smashed your door in” and Joey says "I don’t get a lot of those, you’re the first one to break the door. I’ve had my window broken with like a rock and a note attached to it. I’ve had notes where it’s like “If you don’t pay up in two days, you’re dead” things like that”
B asks if he’s ever had to owe someone named Nekros and joey says “No, but I’ve heard he throws the most insane pit nights. He’s actually come to town like three times in the past few months maybe. I heard he was supposed to have multiple nights this week, but he cancelled after the last one, I think. I was really looking forward to his next one”
B asks if he heard why he cancelled and Joey says “no, kinda bummed about it though. Although if I do hear he’s got another night set up, I can let you guys in”
B says “You do that, in the meantime, I know that Sylvara is fond of you, and I will allow you to continue seeing her. However, if I so much a hint of you having any unsavoury or shady dealings, next time I’m not breaking the door” Joey looks sheepish and says “You don’t have to say anything, I completely understand”
B stares him down then dusts himself off and says, “If I deem it safe, Sylvara will meet you at the jackalope tonight, but if you harm that girl in anyway, they won’t find all of you” Joey says “understood” and B turns around and leaves

Genevieve’s Common Area

M is sitting at a table writing down everything she’s learned since last night and making some flyers while she waits for everyone else, G is helping too
J comes up and gives her a soft squeeze on the shoulder and a soft, comforting smile and heads out
There’s no one else in Genevieve's since no one wants to venture out in the rain
Genevieve walks up to M and says, “You’re going to need a new room darling, here” and gives her a key M thanks her, and she continues “Sorry I flew off the handle a little bit. I haven’t seen my rooms in such a state since Draekos hosted one of his big events” M says that doesn’t surprise her. Genevieve says “Yeah, I had all the rowdy, young folk pay and stay”
M asks if Draekos has been hosting many things recently, Gen says “Surprisingly, no, not very recently. Although I hear once he’s done his big project, he’s gonna have some sort of event to celebrate, which, who knows when that will be ready”
M says she’d like to pay him a visit soon and Gen says she doesn’t know him personally, but he does good things. M says, “too much money but y’know” and Gen replies, “Don’t they all, when they’re nobles” M gives Gen a knowing nod
X walks in drenched from the rain, her dress clinging to her body and practically see through and says “I have arrived! Oh, it’s just you. Where’s everyone?”
M sighs and says, “That’s a long story, I’m glad you’re ok.” X says “Well I haven’t left in quite a while and it felt good walking over here, and then it started raining and I wasn’t sure if I should go back, but I promised and I don’t like to break a promise”
X takes a note of the mood in the room and says, “What’s wrong sweet pea?” M finds herself lost for words for how to begin to describe everything that has happened and X shifts her gaze over to G and says, “You’re the sweet girl Garrin’s been seeing?”
M is very glad for the change in subject and starts asking G about how her night with Garrin was, commenting that they left before everyone else did. X lights up and raises an eyebrow and says “Yes, do tell” G is getting progressively more red in the face
X says, “Don’t worry, it’s just us girls” and G says they had a nice time.
Gen walks up and tells them the bar is open and that she’s going to be back in 10 minutes. M asks if everything is ok and she says she needs to go pay a small man a visit and gives her a wink and leaves with an umbrella
As they are talking M is almost absentmindedly using prestidigitation to dry and warm up X’s dress which she seems to be enjoying
X asks “Is shopping still on the menu? I’m getting the sense that something has happened.” M says “Yeah, about that... You have no idea, and I don’t know if you’ll believe me if I tell you”
At this point S and K walk in and join them at the table
S flies over and introduces herself to X, who tilts her head with intrigue and says “And you, my darling girl, you’re special aren’t you? I don’t see many of you around here” S says, “Yeah well I’m the biggest pixie around” X chuckles and M says, “And it seems a certain Elf is rather fond of you” S blushes and says she really likes him
M asks where B is and S says, “Hopefully playing nice?” M sighs and rolls her eyes, K says that was their reaction to and S says she’ll be very cross if B hurts Joey
M flicks through her notebook, finding a page that gets the general gist of the situation conveyed and slides it over to X and says “Yeah, so everything is kind of a little nuts right now and we’re kind of the champions of a lost pantheon of gods. We think Nekros is the champion of this god of darkness, plague and madness and I don’t know if Lunae is the other champion, because all the gods have two champions, but Lunae is working for him” She then turns to K and asks if she was able to talk to Zalthea
K says she did, and X looks surprised, K says “Long story short, my god is the god of life and death” X asks if she’d talking about the underworld K says that’s another one
X looks intently at the group as Lunae and Nekros are mentioned, realising the seriousness of it all
M continues saying “Yeah anyway, they kidnapped a child and pulled a nightmare creature from her head, and we had to go fight that yesterday” X asks if that was the clown beast. M says “Yup, first time I’ve ever killed anything so that was fun” X says “So it was you, darling? Interesting! Well done” M says “Yeah, I was having a rough day and maybe took it out on a clown. Which, never a bad thing to take it out on a clown”
X reaches out to touch M’s hand comfortingly
M says “So they’re planning to destroy the town and we’re trying to get some sort of defence together. Training up some of the towns people, I’ve been working on some flyers” and G holds up the flyers she’s worked on
M says she’s also been working on some to try and get people for a volunteer community watch type thing
X says she thinks she met Nekros and M says she remembers her mentioning him showing up once and X says, “I think he’s also immune to my charms as well” K says “I wonder if that’s one of Skurth’s things” M says she was thinking the same thing
X is deep in thought, trying to remember what happened but is coming up sort (7 history) so M tries to help her by saying she remembers her saying that he was there and something happened with one of the girls and give X a bardic inspiration (+2 = 9)
X says “Sometimes I employ some people who are looking for extra cash, and trust me, I pay well. But the girls who went to his room, when they came out, when they left, they went home, and I never saw them again. They came out ok, or seemingly ok, and they never came back to work. I just prayed that they found legitimate means of employment. But still, I do wonder what occurred”
M says, “That is concerning.” It also reminds me, so when we saw Garrin yesterday, he told us that Shall Blackthorn was at the baths yesterday, with a girl” X says “Yes, I was told of his dalliances”
M says “Yeah. So, Bruzrik may have killed Harren last night and Shall is not in the cells at The Radiant Hall” X does a full spit take, M cleans it up with prestidigitation and continues “Yeah, and Shall is at the radiant hall, we were going to go and try question him today...”
X says, “You kidnapped the son of the noble family?!” M says “Bruzrik did” X stops her, takes a breath and says, “You’re about to tell me why, aren’t you?”
M says “We didn’t know Bruzrik was going to do it. We were at the jackalope last night and then I was here talking to Alaric and Bruzrik walks in covered in blood and he said he felt things needed a little restructuring around here, and that’s what he thought was necessary. Also we learned, when Bruzrik found Shall there were also two women in his room and they told him that he needed to find their contracts so I don’t know if you heard the rumour about Shall essentially having sex slaves, but it does seem like that’s the case” X says “No, I surely did not, I would not have allowed him into my establishment if I had known”
M sqays “Yeah, so the girl he was with yesterday, we’re all a bit concerned about her now” X starts to put two and two together and says “Oh no. Did anyone check Bruzrik when he came back?” K asks what she means, and she says “Well, the noble family must have some sort of protection or surveillance or security besides guards, don’t you think?” M says “Yeah, we did” X says “This is a little concerning. I’d heard rumours that people who would try to steal from the Blackthorns were always found, no matter where they went. I assume doing something much worse bring the same fate. Where is Bruzrik now?”
M looks to K and S, and S says he was right behind them

Bruzrik

B is strolling through town holding his flail, twirling the ball of it in his hand and is heading towards The Radiant Hall
B, forgetting about the group of suspicious guards at the gates, walks up and notices them (15 perception)
He notices the same 5 guards there again plus a new person who is a Human, about 5 feet tall with a very athletic build and wearing dark grey robes with debossed symbols of the same colour
The man looks upset and like he’s yelling at the rest
B tries to discern if they are a magic user and surmises that he’s probably not primarily a magic user due to his athletic build but seems to have access to music
B continues walking up, whistling as he does so and reaches into his pocket to grab George Forgeman which does not light up in an attempt tp not give B away and B says, “Prepare for combat protocol” and places George behind his back
As B gets closer the new guy stops talking to the other guards and tucks a necklace under his shirt and is able to notice that the necklace seemed to comprise of 4 stone runes and seems to activate one of them as he does so (perception 18)
B tries to see if he can recognise any of the runes and can only tell that he activated something and maybe that he looks a little peppier (11 arcana)
The human walks directly up to B, the rest of the guards fix their eyes on him, and he says, “Hold citizen” B stops but keeps whistling. The human continues “Do you have business beyond this gate?”
B takes a deep breath looks up, saying “I simply wanted to go out and enjoy this lovely weather in the forest” The human replies “With a weapon in your hands?” B says there are many beasts out there
The human snaps his fingers and the rest of the guards all stand up as he says, “Something doesn’t smell right about you” One of the guards says, “Maybe he’s the one we’re looking for?” the human tells him to shut up
B looks the human in the eyes gets a sure feeling that this man is a killer and not afraid to take a life
The human’s outstretched hand clutches into a fist as he lowers it, the other reaches up to touch the necklace again and says, “Do you want to cross me?”
B looks at him with his head cocked and says “It’ seems like you want me to” The human replies “Maybe this is the one we’re looking for, boys” and they all start walking up behind him
B holds out his arms, looking up at the sky and points the arm with the Clawshot Sigil on it at the human before saying “Are you really sure you want to do this?” (8 intimidation)
The human smiles, presses on his necklace and disappears and B immediately casts thunderwave, the human fails his con save but manages to maintain concentration on invisibility (con save 12 & concentration 11) and deals 7 thunder damage to him, pushing him back 10 feet
Bob saves with 20 and takes 5 damage and is not pushed back
Job fails with 5 and takes 4 damage and is pushed back
Hob fails with 8 and takes 14 damage, killing him instantly
Rob fails with 5 and takes 9 damage and is pushed back
Dobby saves with 16 and takes 4 damage and is not pushed back
The invisible human attacks B with a spell with 18 and deals him 8 force damage and loses his invisibility and B can now see him running incredibly quickly by him
The four other guards swing, all missing him
B casts thunderwave again, killing Bob, Job and Rob. Dobby fails the save but is not killed
B stares dobby down and says, “Is this really worth the gold that they’re paying you?” He drops his weapon, saying it’s not with it and turns to run, jumping into the river, ripping off the ill-fitting blackthorn armour (25 intimidation)
The human reaches for his right wrist, something on it starts to glow and he flies 60 feet up into the air and his eyes light up, shooting a fire beam down and doing 19 damage to B (3 dex save)
B can tell that he can’t do these big flashy moves more than once but don’t know what else he could do (18 insight & nat 1 perception)
B uses his wings to fly up 30 feet towards him and uses acid breathe on him, failing his save and taking 12 acid damage
He touches something on his left arm and closes the gap tp try punch B in the face, hitting with 22 and doing 10 damage as his fist lights up with the same light as earlier
B swings at him with his flail hitting with 24 and trying to knock him out of the sky (14 strength) and dealing a total of 22 damage as he hits the ground
He touches his necklace again and his form splits into two
B returns to the ground and casts thunderwave, both of them saving and taking 6 damage
They both swing for him, one missing with 13 and the other hitting with 21 and doing 13 damage, B uses Adamantine Bulwark to negate the damage
B takes a swing at one of them, missing with 9, before taking another swing and hitting with 22, dealing 12 damage and destroying the lighter form as it gets subsumed into the shadowed figure
Geroge Forgeman does 6 damage to the now normal looking human
He swings at B, missing with 10
B swings at him, hitting with 23 dealing 7 damage as George also hits him for 6 fire damage and the man’s body starts cracking and crumbling and his physical mass seems to lessen as though as if his physicality was maintained via magic
B admires his work then grabs George and brings him to the dead guy and gets it to scan him
B can see a bunch of crumbled rocks around the wrists and neck that had runes on them
George scans him and is able to recreate the runes that were on the now broken items and says provided paper it could recreate them and suggests collecting the robes
B puts George away and grabs the robe and finds 7 gold and a morning star which he takes, as well as a number of daggers which he doesn’t take

Genevieve’s Common Area cont.

M facepalms and says “For fucks sake, He better not be going to the radiant hall to talk to Shall without me”
X laughs and says “Maybe he’s doing some hero business. I hear he’s a hero! My girls are very enamoured with him” M says “Probably what he’s planning to do at The Radiant Hall, if he’s heading there. He was supposed to come to The Iron Pit with me this morning”
X asks if that’s their first stop, M says “Yeah, got a gig there, trying to get in good and see if I can pick up on any gossip”
X notices Ember and squeals, asking who they are, M introduces them, and X puts her hands out to see if they will hop up which they do, and X hugs them to her chest and says “So soft for a... What is it exactly?” M says They are a Melodyborn Elemental. X pauses for a second before saying “Is this one of your “I’m a chosen of a god” kinda things?” M says “Yeah, he made it just for me” X says “Oh look at you! Just charming everyone.” and winks at M
M tries to hide the fact that she’s blushing from X (24 deception) who doesn’t notice (13 perception) Neither does G (6 perception) but K does notice (24 perception) and gives M a wink and M returns with a stare that says “I see you seeing me and don’t you dare”
X holds Ember in one hand, and in the other conjures a minor illusion of a light blue version of Ember that mirrors Ember as the examine it. M also joins in making a purple version with Minor illusion
M says “What I was thinking the plan today was Bruzrik and I were going to go to The Jolly Jackalope, I was going to perform, we were going to try collect gossip and then we were going to come back here to meet Varuug, who’s also a champion and whose daughter, Skylla, is also a champion who was kidnapped by Lunae last night and we were going to go over stuff. and then after that I was going to suggest we go to The Radiant Hall to talk to Shall. And then I was thinking, after I perform here tonight, how long would it take to get to the bluffs if we went via The Crimson Wing?”
X says “Oh, well, they’re very fast, like if you took a carriage and it took you hours, The Crimson wing could do it in one, maybe two?” M asks if she would be up for that and she links her arm under G’s and says, “Girl's trip?” M looks to everyone else and says, “If you want to” G nods
X comments quietly on how strong G is and gives her arm a squeeze
M says “I believe the plan was to go tomorrow, but I’ve had an idea and there are a couple things I wanted to do before doing that, one of them being talking to Draekos” X says “Darling, I would be surprised if you didn’t have a plan”
M glances around waiting for someone to ask about her plan but there is a period of silence, then broken by S saying “What’s the plan? You guys are all saying things without saying things”
M says “So I figure that, in order to protect the town, getting eyes here from external sources, basically forcing the hand of neighbouring cities to intervene. But a good way to get, to make sure that information to get one, would be for some other big news to happened in that town. For instance, a missing noble woman showing up” As she speaks M is nervously fidgeting and not looking at anyone
X tilts her head lower in an attempt to meet M’s eyes and S asks what she’s talking about
M says, “I am thinking, tomorrow gather as many people as we can in the town square, and I spill the beans on what’s going on, not just here, but who I am and some of the stuff I learned from being married to Blen.” S says “Everything?”
X straightens up again and says “I see, tomorrow. Well if you want to get the most amount of people just do it right before lunch time” M says that was the plan and X says “I can put a few whispers in the right ears tonight, if need be” M says she was going to tell everyone after her performance tonight to find her in the town square at midday tomorrow
Giuseppe returns, doesn’t see Genevieve and runs to the back, M shouts out to let him know that she’s gone to fetch Norman, he thanks her.
As they are getting ready to leave a Gnome man skips into the room and gives everyone a deep bow and introduces himself as Normal Darcy
Genevieve comes in after with a slightly weary smile and says maybe they don’t tell him what’s going on
M tells S that it’s probably risky for her to join them and S asks if she can go somewhere else instead, M says it’s up to her and S frowns saying she should probably stay there M says “I would prefer that, but again, I don’t want to tell you what to do”
Genevieve comes up and says, “I can tell you what to do, come here girl” S shrugs, says she’ll stay and heads over to Gen, M gives her a nod of thanks and says they’re at the Iron Pit if anyone needs them then M, X, G and K head out
As they do X leans over and says “You know, I’ve heard of Genevieve, I like her. I’ve never spoken with her much, but seeing her in action; very nice” M she’s a menace with a frying pan

Bruzrik

B is rethinking heading to The Radiant Hall after taking a bit of damage in the fight and decides to head back to Genevieve’s
B gets in the door and looks around, seeing he missed everyone before being greeted enthusiastically by Norman as he introduces himself (nat 20 perception)
B congratulates him on the promotion and asks if he knows where a group of several women were heading and he says they were going to somewhere called the pit, but he doesn’t know what that is. B tips him a gold coin and thanks him, saying they’ll be lucky ladies if he catches up to them
B heads out and tries to catch up with them

The Jolly Jackalope

The girls arrive at The Jolly Jackalope and sees a few people there, including Todd and some staff
M heads in and says good morning to Todd, he smiles and says hi, before looking on the rest of the group and slumping his shoulders and asks if they’re there to “eat” M confirms through thieves' cant
Todd sighs and lets one of the staff know that he needs to do something and leads everyone out the back
M can see light coming from under the door that Kelsin brought her into but no sign of Kelsin
M walks up beside Todd, links her arm around his and asks if he’s doing ok and he says “I was”
B then catches up to the group, pulls out the robes, handing them to K and says he went “shopping”
X says “Oh, my hero, you went shopping without me?” and goes to fall in line with B but sees that he’s bleeding and says, “Do clean yourself up dear” and B does a sarcastic curtsy, eliciting a slight chuckle from X
M over hears this and says “Gods, so rude! Didn’t even ask the ladies shopping!” and B says “Well you wouldn’t have cared for my shopping companions I imagine, it was probably for the best”
M turns back to Todd and asks via thieves’ cant “you good?” he eyes B and everyone and says he’s as good as he can be and also asks if X knows her clothes are see-through when they’re wet, M says “Probably, yeah. I think she likes it” and Todd very obviously tries not to stare
M uses message to tell X she’s being admired, and X says “when am I not darling? I bet you like what you see”
As they’re walking B brings out a scrap of the blackthorn armour and flashes it to M who gives him a look of understanding and slight annoyance
Todd stops at the entrance and says, “You don’t need me from here, it’s the same as last time” M says, “You’re not going to come watch?” (13 persuasion)
Todd sighs and says he can watch a song or two, M says she was hoping to have his company to talk to Nyx about something since he knows him better and could back her up, Todd says “Sure, I’ll employ him, but yeah, I’ll give it a go”
M thanks him and X walks up on the other side of him and says, “You can do it dear” and gives him a kiss on the cheek, which M mirrors and also gives him a kiss on the cheek

The Iron Pit

Everyone walks into The Iron pit and are met by a rather menacing looking bone serpent with a teal kerchief around its neck that hisses, and Nyx very quickly appears, notices the group and greets them
Nyx says they told Rynette not to come today so it’s good that M is able to be there
M bends down and asks him how quickly he could get a letter to Rosewood, he says “My friend should be returning soon from your other request, but if I ran it myself I could do it within about a day, full speed though” M asks if that would be faster than The Crimson Wing , Nyx says they have a lot of bureaucracy they have to work through so he’s probably faster, M says she will talk to him after her show. He says he doesn’t have much going on later other than a couple of small fights later
M says she believes there is a piano waiting for her and Nyx looks at Todd and says “Actually, your brother told the boys to get the piano out, so it’s over there by the stage” and M practically skips over to it
Nyx says there would have been a bigger turn out, but rain has dissuaded many people from coming out
K puts her hand out to the bone naga to see if it will let her pat/study it (12 animal handling) and it lowers its head down towards her
K starts to study it and has the thought to speak with Kallista about the potential of learning how to wildshape into undead forms
There is a ship's crew in attendance having drinks and betting
On the chalk board there are listings for some low stakes fights later in the day
M tells the rest of the group to try keep an ear out for any gossip or info they can
M finds an upright piano on the stage, as well as a white kobold sitting in the backstage area waxing his bow with some hand drums by him
He looks up to M wordlessly and M gives him a smile and a nod, he points to the drums to ask if she wants him to accompany her with some drums, she says, “If you’re offering” and he nods
M picks Ember up and places them on top of the piano before sitting down and starting and playing Song of Healing (22 performance)
Ember transforms into their crescendo striker form as M plays and is definitely enjoying the music. Their feathers take a form that look like they could deal some damage, and they seem to have bulked out a little
The white kobold is playing along and complimenting M nicely
B seeks out a healer who asks is they’ve seen him before, B says he’ll give them an extra 5 gold if they haven’t seen him before and they agree, healing him for 10 hp and B tells him to hit him again (9 hp) and the healer seems surprised at how much it seems to be taking to get B back up to full health and B tells him to heal him again (14 hp)
The guy looks magically spent and says he should invest in potions and that most people just die
M heals for 8hp using song of rest and B for 4hp
K calls Nyx over and asks where the rest of the crew are, he says he had to let them have some RnR and that a couple of then went to go see M, K says “yeah she tends to draw a crowd” Nys says “So I see we don’t many people here today but look” and points over to the ship's crew who are hooting and hollering, one is on the table with his shirt off and M gives him a wink as he’s yanked down by the captain
K asks Nyx about the bone naga, and Nyx says “You mean Lavender here? She’s a sweetie” K asks how he met her, and Nyx says “Honestly, we uh, it’s a sad story, we were sailing, because originally, we were, much like there fellas, a pirate crew. I was searching for something special, and I found was I was looking for is all I’ll say but we came across some naga and uh, Lavendar knows this, it isn’t a surprise, but we accidentally killed her what I think was her mother and father. Yeah, we felt real bad” Lavendar bends down to nuzzle and comfort him and he says “Aw ya big softie, y’know we feel bad. But yeah, I bet you want to examine or learn more about her, she’s a softie, she’s real nice” K says she would love to as long as it’s ok with her Lavendar nods
K pulls pout her notebook and starts sketching. Lavendar shows K how she can secrete poison from her fangs
K asks what Lavendar eats, and Nyx says “Bedsides cleaning up our enemies? Doesn't eat much to be honest, being undead and all. I’ve seen her put away a giant before, it’s crazy. I could tell you about the island of the giants one day” K thanks him for his time as Turq, the newest person to the crew with his bandana tied around his thigh tries to drag Nyx off to resume cleaning
G gets a drink and tries to sit down near people to see what she can overhear; M sees this and gives her a bardic (19 investigation)
G bumps shoulders with one of the sailors a who asks her if she’s staying for the fight G says she’s just here for the performance and the sailors says “She’s a fine one isn’t she? She winked at my friend”
M looks over and winks and the person G is talking to (14 persuasion) and he seems overjoyed and says “Did you see that? Me too! Oh, bless me heart, the siren’s song. You know we be leaving in about 2 days”
G asks where they are heading and they say “you’ve probably never heard of the place, it’s called Feathercrest Cove”
K does not hear this, too focused on her notes (perception 8)
The pirate continues saying they’re heading there but the crew heard about some fights, ended up in the wrong arena but eventually found their way there with the help of Kelsin who was really nice to the captain and that they’re going to try make some money also adding that there’s a real big fight in two days
He says “Some big shot’s gonna be putting up a big event, supposed to be lots of deaths. I’m trying to convince Billy to enter” and points back to the guy who got the first wink from M
M finishes her performance with a flourish, takes a bow and heads down from the stage, she can overhear the pirates arguing about how much to give her, the captain saying they shouldn’t be giving away that much
M winks at the captain (13 persuasion) and he mumbles incoherently and tells Billy to give M all of his winnings.
The guy chatting to G say he’s gotta go and grabs the chest Billy is holding and runs up to M with it, the captain walking up with him
He hands the chest to M, she thanks him, and the captain praises her performance
The captain asks if M has ever thought about being a ships musician, she says she’s not thought about that specifically but that she does love to travel
The captain says “Well, if you do, you could barter passage to Feathercrest Cove with me and my crew” M says “I unfortunately have business keeping me in town for the next week or so”
This time K does hear this and thanks Lavendar before heading over to M and the captain (16 perception)
K hears the captain trying to convince M to join them by regaling her with tales and how he plans to catch himself a Dire Sturgeon
M asks if he’s heard the tale of the Tembril in the nearby forest and he says he has actually and almost convinced the crew to go after it but the tales he’s heard don’t ever end well
The captain says he’s going to be in the pit for the next two days and that he’d love for her to come by and visit again, she says she’ll try and stop by if she has time
K gives the captain some advice on the Dire Sturgeon, the captain says they stumbled upon Feathercrest Cove and that they were treated well so have returned a few times
The captain asks how K knows so much about Feathercrest Cove, and K mentions that she is from there, which the captain then announces to the rest of the crew, and they all raise a glass
M asks K if she knows the tale of the Tembril, K remembers some of the older druids warning the younger ones about a predator in Ebonreach Forest that decapitates its prey (8 history)
K says she’s heard of it, but it was told more as a warning
M is rummaging through her bags to see if she has the book on her
M flicks through a book and says “Oh, I do have it on me! Would you like to hear it, or should I save it for another time?” K says she doesn’t want to keep her if she’s so busy, M says it’s just a quick tale
M climbs back up on the stage, clears her throat and recites The Tembril of Ebonreach and is met by raucous applause as she finishes, the captain shedding a tear and tells M not to tell the boys that Dorian shed a tear, without knowing behind him they are all also blubbering
The Kobold walks over to M and tugs at her skirts and says “That was immaculate, well done”
