Magical Construct. The Melodyborn Elemental does not require air, food, drink, or sleep. It was crafted as a loyal companion and is bound by magical melodies. When a tune is played on a compatible instrument, the elemental transforms (see Alternate Forms below). Songbound Adaptation. Once per Short Rest The Melodyborn Elemental responds to specific songs and can change forms when a known melody is played on an instrument. If the bard who owns it plays a known melody for at least 6 seconds (1 round), the Melodyborn shifts into one of its CR 2 forms. The transformation lasts 1 minute, after which it reverts to its original form.

Actions

Harmonic Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) thunder damage.

Resonant Pulse (Recharge 5-6). The Melodyborn releases a burst of sound in a 10-foot radius. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or take 10 (3d6) thunder damage and be deafened until the end of its next turn.

Alternate Forms (CR 2)

Each alternate form has a unique look based on the instrument played.

Aria Guard (Defensive Form)

When a melody of protection is played, the Melodyborn adopts a shield-like form with flowing, harmonic waves of energy surrounding it. Armor Class 16 (arcane resonance field) Hit Points 40 (7d6 + 14) Damage Resistances All non-magical damage Abilities: Harmonic Barrier. The Melodyborn creates a musical aura in a 10-ft. radius around its bonded bard. Allies within this aura gain +1 AC and have advantage on saving throws against magical effects. Melodic Absorption. If the bard casts a spell that restores hit points, the elemental absorbs some of the energy, gaining temporary hit points equal to half the healing provided.

Crescendo Striker (Offensive Form)

When a melody of battle is played, the Melodyborn reshapes into a sleek, streamlined form, its body crackling with energy. Armor Class 14 Hit Points 36 (6d6 + 12) Speed 40 ft., fly 40 ft. (hover) Abilities: Thunderclap Strike. The Melodyborn’s melee attacks now deal 2d8 thunder damage, and critical hits cause enemies to be pushed 10 feet away. Sonic Dash. As a bonus action, the elemental can move up to 30 feet in a straight line. Any creature in its path must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or take 9 (2d6) thunder damage and be knocked prone.

Echo Weaver (Support Form)

When a melody of inspiration is played, the Melodyborn becomes semi-transparent and wreathed in soothing harmonics. Armor Class 14 Hit Points 38 (7d6 + 14) Speed 30 ft., fly 40 ft. Abilities: Resonant Echo. The bard can cast Bardic Inspiration on an ally twice per round instead of once. Echoing Chord. The Melodyborn can use its bonus action to create a duplicate effect of the bard’s last spell (if it was 1st level or lower).

Lyre “Ballad of Serenity”

Aria Guard (Defensive) Harmonic Healing

A gentle, soothing field envelops allies. Whenever an ally within 10 feet is healed, they gain 5 temporary hit points and become immune to being frightened for 1 minute.

Crescendo Striker (Offensive) Stringed Fury

Resonant chords energize the Melodyborn’s strikes. The first successful melee attack each turn deals an additional 1d8 radiant damage, and if the attack reduces a creature to 0 hit points, the Melodyborn immediately gains advantage on its next attack.

Echo Weaver (Support) Soothing Strings

A comforting melody grants allies calm focus. As a bonus action, the Melodyborn can target one ally within 30 feet who is charmed, frightened, or blinded; that ally can repeat the saving throw immediately (if one applies), ending the effect on a success.

Piano “Nocturne of the Arcane”

Echo Weaver (Support) Chordal Magic

Deep, layered chords bolster concentration. The bard gains advantage on Constitution saving throws to maintain concentration on spells.

Crescendo Striker (Offensive) Hammer Strike

Bold, percussive chords empower the Melodyborn’s next blow. Once per turn, the Melodyborn may double the damage dice of one melee attack. If this attack misses, this benefit is lost until the next round.

Aria Guard (Defensive) Fortissimo Shield

A powerfully sustained note forms a protective bulwark. Allies within 10 feet have advantage on saving throws against fear and can’t have their speed reduced below 10 feet by any effect.
