General Summary
Monday 21/05/2345
Heading Back to Genevieve’s
- K passes out the Talismans of Dispelling to B and M and gives M a Doodle Ring
- M sidles up to G and says “So, you and the Half Orc boy seemed to be having a good time last night” G smiles and blushes a little
- M tells J that X had asked after her and wished to speak to her, J says she doesn’t remember meeting her, but she’d be open to talking to her
- B remembers there’s a place in town that sells a lot of different stuff called The Embervale Exchange (History 21)
Back at Genevieve’s
- See a couple of young girls, B recognises them from the blacksmith with a quiver of arrows and a shield wrapped up in fabric, they approach and had them to B
- The girl unwraps the shield and reveals a silver shield with blue inlay that they learned from B
- B has a look at the shield, it’s a nice shield
- M notices the arrows are silver even though she didn’t ask for that and they didn’t ask for extra
- M asks B how much she owes him for the arrows, he looks to the girls and asks how much it comes to, they say that'll give him a discount and it will be 150gp and M gives him 15 for the arrows
- B tells the girls he has a new job for their master, that he wants plate mail armour, they ask what metal he wants and asks what the cheapest metal is, asks for a full set of copper armour saying he will pay extra if she can rush it, they say they’ll send someone over tomorrow to let him know how long it will take
- There are quite a few people in Gen’s, Alaric and Gen are both busy and Giuseppe is in helping
- J and C say they’re going to their room, and M says “You’re not staying for my performance” they say they’ll probably hear it. M says they’re all going to gather after to plan
- M taps Alaric on the shoulder and asks if it’s a good time for her to perform, he doesn’t realise it’s her at first and gets flustered, asking her if she needs anything
- M asks for a glass of water, and he runs off to get her one and she hands him a note that says “You played those buckets like a pro” in elven, he gets very flustered and finds an excuse to run off (nat 1 for Alaric)
- M gets on stage and kills it (performance 25, 17, 19)
- People with arm bands from Nyx’s crew are in the crowd
- Crim, Azure, Esmeralda, Sage, Rose from The Iron Pit, Esmeralda is really getting into it
- Alaric collects 35 gold and gives it to M
- A few people stop to talk to M, offering praise and adoration, Esmerlda comes up and fan girls over her, M asks if she’s one of Nyx’s crew and they talk a bit, M says she’s going to be playing at the pit too and Esmerelda says they all love Rynette but some variety is nice before heading off
- M pulls Gen and Alaric aside, updates them on what’s going on and asks if they can use the dining room again
- Alya and Althea show up with a man clad in armour, with a visible on his neck and introduce him as Kael Sunstrike
Dining room
- M sets a bunch of paper and pencils on the table and tells everyone to write down everything they know, what they have learned, info about their gods and dreams and asks Corvin to write down anything he can remember about Lunae, Nekros and Zalthea
- G is having trouble remembering things because she is troubled by the new sensory experience of the bracers she can’t seem to remove but remembers some things the others don’t about the bathhouse (history 7)
- K is able to give details about The Iron Pit, specifically about the arena (history 14)
- M remembers a lot of what people have said, conversations they’ve had, and directions people were going (history 15)
- B writes an insanely detailed report of everything that has happened since he met K (history 21)
- M takes everyone’s reports and her own diaries and using a Doodle Ring turns the wall of the dining room into a conspiracy board, Gen sees her doing so and says, “Oh my sweet girl, what are you doing?” M says it’s ok, it rubs off easily, does a little doodle then rubs it off to show her and she says “You folks and your crazy magic”
- B asks K for the other doodle ring and summons his mage hand, giving it the ring and sending it to help M
- G has a brief thought, but it fades too quickly to make note of (intelligence 3)
- M has a look over everything, have a realisation, turns to B and says “Bruzrik, do you remember the wording I used when I told you what it felt like when I took the ring off” He affirms, and she repeats it for the group. “That it felt like something, a shadow was no longer watching over me. If Skurth is the god of shadows and Nekros is his champion using the power of shadows...”
- M sits down at the table, pondering for a bit and connecting dots in her head before saying “Nekros said he was bringing a friend and remember in that shared dream we had, the voice that I recognised as that of Blen said he was coming to Ravenswood, what if they are connected?”
- K speaks up and says “I’m new here but this dream you had; how can you be sure it was actually Blen Mildmore? A dream is a dream, couldn’t it have been anyone?” M says, “We say dream, but I don’t know exactly if it was a dream, because that’s how we rescued Sylvara” He replies “Well all I’m trying to say is, in dreams things can mean other things, but if you’re saying it’s as real as we are now... I don’t know. Is there any chance it could have been something else looking like Blen? Could be worse, could be a demon”
- M says “I’d prefer a demon to my ex-husband”
- B gets the impression that Kael’s oath is that of vengeance, he disapproves
- M suddenly remembers that Gen and Alaric had hung around in the room and that they might have heard her say Lord Blen Mildmore was her ex-husband and looks over, seeing only Gen and says “Oh, yeah... I’m the ex-wife of Blen Mildmore, you know, the one who went missing 6 months ago?” Gen says, “Just a noble from that other town” M clarifies that she is a former noble
- B notices her disguise wearing off and sends the mage hand to poke her, she looks at her skin slowly getting more purple, looks at the room, realises everyone there knows and just lets the disguise drop
- Kael seems to get a bit agitated at the sight of a Drow, but Althea puts a hand on him, giving him a nod and he settles
- B notes that Althea is everything Riordon is not and is perplexed that they could even be related
- M can see that Kael definitely seems to have something against Drow, but is not acting on it (insight 20)
- She looks at him and says “Only half, don’t worry” he grunts and broods
- Alaric comes back in and hands out water to everyone, goes to hand M her glass, looks up making direct eye contact with her and she feels unsure about how he’s about to react. She somewhat nervously says “Surprise” and he tilts his head, smiling at here and saying “Hey you” seeming the most confident that she has seen of him
- She offers him a bow and says “Welcome to the apparently ever-expanding club of people who have seen my real face”
- S asks what the plan for the end of the week is, M says, getting as many people on their side as possible, getting as much information as they can and trying to thwart their plans wherever possible, adding that if they can take at least some of them out before the end of the week that would be a big advantage
- Corvin says that Lunae is mostly likely hiding somewhere on the outskirts of town, that they found her there last time she angered Nekros and that the found her in the lumbar area where she had killed a guy and taken his house. J gives him a look and he apologises, looking ashamed at his past actions
- M notices this and looks at C saying “You can’t hold yourself solely responsible for the things you did while under threat of harm to you or your loved ones. People will do all sorts of things that they wouldn’t otherwise when something they care deeply about is at risk and yes it was you who did those things, but it wasn’t because you wanted to, it was because you felt like you had to”
- C thinks quietly to himself for a moment before looking back up at the group and saying “I don’t mind going out tonight and looking for Lunae. I won’t engage her, but I can look”
Planning
- B says if he finds her to immediately report back to him and give him every detail
- M asks C if he would feel better if he wasn’t alone tonight. C looks cocky and says he has ways of helping himself out but understands if they want someone to go with him. B suggest Althea goes with him and they both agree
- B says he wants to go kill Zalthea tonight and M says she was going to suggest they do that tomorrow and had been hoping that X would show up so they could go over a plan
- M says she’s torn because she was wanting to go to The Jolly Jackalope and see if she could get any information out of Todd and potentially pop into the pit, but she would also like to Make sure X is ok and be there to help out if things do go down tonight
- M says she was hoping to get X on board so that she could arrange for the potion to be added to a drink and the delivered to Zalthea because that would look a lot less suspicious than trying to bring in their own spiked wine or adding it in the room which would be much safer for everyone
- M looks at K and asks if she’s willing to also be bait to try and catch Zalthea with her guard down, she says as long as she has back up and M mentions that there’s still the peephole B carved so he can be keeping an eye on them and ready to swoop in when needed
- M then asks G and J what they’re wanting to do and notices that J doesn’t look comfortable in her dress and offers her coat which J gladly accepts
- G decides she will go with B, K and M and J will stay back with S and Alya
Investigating the sword
- M asks B if he’s tried the orb yet, he says not yet but he has something he wants to check with it. M Says she had a thought, pulls out her lyre and removes one of the strings, presenting it to B saying she wants to know what it sounds like, he says he wants to do something first
- B pulls out Zaolu’s Crucible and the sword that was taken from Nekros, placing it on the table and asks the crucible to identify the sword
- The crucible starts to scan the sword, and the rest of the group look on in shock and awe of this piece of godly technology gets to work, M is giving it her rapt attention, fascinated as she watches it work
- B notices that something is different as it scans the sword as opposed to the demonstration Zaolu first gave him, the little lasers seem to be staying focused around the blade, almost like there’s an invisible barrier around it.
- The crucible finishes it’s scan and says, “Analysis complete: God sword identified; Skurth” The group groan and sigh as their suspicions are confirmed
- The crucible continues saying it’s not able to tell anything more about the sword but recommends not picking it up. They debate taking the sword to Moritha but decide against it
- M asks Gen if she has anywhere where they could keep the sword locked away so no one could get their hands on it
- She says she has a safe but not one big enough but says they could always bury it in the river, M says the risk of someone finding it is too high
- B asks the crucible if he would be able to break it, the crucible scans B and says potentially with Zaolu’s Edge. Then scans the room, picking up on The Ash Song and stating that could also do it, it then scans K and she has a form that could probably do it, and then G and The Bracers of Lunar Fangs stating they could also do it
- G decides to check out the sword to see if she can figure anything out, M gives her a bardic to help out, she can’t tell how it’s crafted but can tell that there’s a multi-level curse on it, the first step being touching it, the second is letting it go (arcana 8+5 13)
- M asks B if he could try reach out to Zaolu and see if they could get any insight that way and he says he can try, M also gives him a bardic to assist. He grabs ahold of the crucible kneels and tries to reach out to Zaolu with a prayer (religion 14+6 20)
- Everyone notices that the crucible goes from glowing blue to glowing green before Zaolu can be heard through the orb, though a bit staticy and occasionally breaking up. B goes by the window to get better signal, and it works (?)
- B says “Zaolu I have something I need to ask you about, regarding the asshole you told me about ... we’ve got his sword” Zaolu seems very interested and tells B to aim him at it. Insert trying to face time with grandparents visual gag
- Zaolu says “I don’t know the exact name of the sword, I would have to touch it, but I’m getting the sense no one would want to touch it. Well, I could touch it... Have any of you touched it yet?” Everyone says no but M says J might have and they debate over whether it would have killed her and why would it then be hovering over her after
- Zaolu continues saying “Well it’s actually safe to touch but you have to have dispel magic or something to drop it safely, but you’d have to drop it the minute you cast it, so it’s actually safe to grab, unless you don’t have dispel magic to let it go. From what I’m gathering, this is definitely a weaponised, moving trap”
- B asks what would happen if they broke it, M says they’ve all got their own godly items and hold up The Ash Song, Zaolu gets momentarily distracted admiring it
- Zaolu says “If you were to destroy this item the creation magic would return to Skurth and he would be able to create some new device or trickery, shadow thing he does” M states it’s not something that they would necessarily want and asks Althea if she has somewhere they could lock it away
- Althea says There’s always the dungeons and M says that sounds like the best option. Kael says to Alya that he knew they should have built something to store cursed objects and goes off on a tangent, everyone is unimpressed
- B asks if Zaolu would like to have a look at anyone else before he goes and he says he would love to, then the crucible powers down and then returns to normal
- B tells M to hand him the lyre string and he gives it to the crucible and sends it to his room to work on alchemising it
Resuming Planning
- The group then resume talking about the plan for the rest of the night, suggesting that Alya, J and S stay put for the night and Kael says he can protect them, like they’re not perfectly capable of protecting themselves
- B and M talk over message about what they want Kael to do, B saying that Kael will fuck it all up if he comes to The Silver Hourglass Bathhouse & Spa and they agree to have him stay put
- The group vibe check Kael (K & G 11, M 12, B nat 20) B calls a group huddle and tells them that ultimately he’s a paladin of The Radiant Hall, he does what he thinks is right but he listens to his commander, Althea, even though he has his own thoughts and qualms about the way things are done and that he is a person of his word. B also says that he thinks they can trust him
- B also notes that he seems like he’s more intelligent than he gives off and is probably very good at tracking but that he does not trust him to do the detective work because he feels like he’d go rogue and has the vibes of a cop that does whatever he wants to do (he does not share this)
- They decide that the four of them should go to the baths, Althea and C should try track down Lunae and J, S, Alya and Kael should stay here
- S tugs on J’s dress and says that she would like to go to The Jolly Jackalope
- M hears the exchange, messages J and says, “I do not trust this man in The Jolly Jackalope” J seems confused about why she hears M in her head and doesn’t know how to reply, M explains how it works, J says she understands what M is saying
- M turns to S and says, “How about tomorrow night, you and I can go” S pouts saying “fine”
A bit of chatting
- S goes off and sits by the window, looking out it and k taps her on the shoulder, S gives her a big smile and K asks how she’s feeling S says “I’m feeling better, still feeling really frustrated about not having any magic at least yesterday I could summon sparks” and gestures with her hands, trying to cast something again then looking down at the ground she sighs and continues “I try not to think about it too much”
- K says she was going to ask if anything had come back since she rested, S says “No real change, my memories, they’re... I feel like it’s getting worse. I seem to be forgetting more and more.” She reaches for K’s hand, looking in her eyes and says “I must be special for some reason, right? I just can’t remember why... I was able to pull all of you together ... I can’t keep feeling so helpless. Well, maybe Micarafae will be able to help, she wants to try something”
- K says to keep her in the loop and gives her hand a reassuring squeeze, S squeezes K’s hand 3 times
- M goes over to Alaric and joking says “So, you wanna come murder a Minotaur with us?” He responds, “do you want me to?” She smiles, places a hand on his shoulder and says, “Just giving you a hard time love” he says he would if she wanted him to. M says I wouldn’t want to put him and risk and he says, “I don’t know how much good I’d be in a fight” Jokingly doing a one-two punch, only for M to catch his fist in her hand and says “Alright, alright, you’re the fast one”
- G has an itch under one of the bracers and is trying really hard to scratch it (flat d20 roll 12, nothing happened)
- M approaches S and J and asks if either of them would like for her to try using detect thoughts to see if she can figure anything out, J volunteers to go first
Detect thoughts on Jineyih
- M looks to C and says, “I don’t know what’s going to happen, this could be rough for her, can you just be there for her?” C says of course
- M holds out a hand and says, “May I?” and J takes her hand. M continues saying “if anything gets too much, just tell me to stop and I will, or if you can’t get the words out, squeeze my hand 3 times, alright?” J affirms and M casts detect thoughts
- M hears J think “Has she done it yet? Is it working?” M gives her a nod J then thinks “Ok, I’m going to try and think about...” M gets a heavy foreboding feeling as she thinks the next word “Nekros” then her thoughts go blank, like there’s nothing there
- M can still feel the foreboding feeling but J is not able to recall anything and is getting frustrated in her mind
- M tries to push deeper, and J allows her to, and M starts to feel a feeling of dread and anguish and hears J reliving the memories of what happened before she was captured. M hears J crying out for her mother, her sisters and M can hear crackling flames and splintering wood before hearing “Who is he to give me one last chance?” and then it goes blank
- J says out loud “He tossed me that sword. He’s the one who told me to fight. I grabbed that sword, and I threw it at him. And then I woke up in The Iron Pit”
- M decides she wants to try something and tells J to try and reach out to her god, and M places her hand over the pommel of The Ash Song and tries to reach out to Korbus as well (Charisma 17) and they are both able to get in touch their respective gods
- M sees two bright blue glowing cat's eyes that flare briefly before settling, followed by a voice saying “Tick tock girl you have 20 seconds”
- The Ash Song starts glowing red hot in M’s hand but not causing her any pain as she hears Korbus in her head say “Nayamayi, is that you?” The eyes blink and Nayamayi responds “I haven’t heard your voice in forever! Korbus?”
- M interrupts saying “Ok, shut up, don’t have long, sorry. What were you able to see? Were you able to see anything while she was in the trance”
- Nayamayi says “I could see everything, girl. Who are you to...” Korbus interrupts saying “Aye, lay off her”
- Nayamayi says “The things he did to her, only I could heal, and I did” M says she’s going to try this again another time
- Nayamayi says “I am the goddess of healing and purity, and I was able fully heal her, but the things he did to her” Korbus interrupts again to say “We’re gonna stop Skurth, don’t worry. These kids are alright”
- The connection starts to go very fuzzy, and M says a quick thank you to Nayamayi before seeing the cat eyes blink and disappear
Talking Shit with Korbus
- Detect thoughts ends but Korbus says “You’ve got me for 5 more minutes kiddo” M asks if he wants to take a look at the sword, they got from Nekros and Korbus says “I wouldn’t touch that shit” M says she’s definitely not touching it. He says “I kinda want to, but it would be different for me than it would be for you”
- Korbus goes quiet as he looks over the sword before saying “It’s not really that well made. Skurth’s pretty shit at building stuff. I can definitely see his trickery in there. Can’t tell what it does though” M explains all she knows about the sword and J’s experience with it and korbus responds “I wish I could give her a boon, that sounds pretty badass, trying to throw it back at that nekros fella” M responds “She’s definitely got a fire in her” Korbus agrees and The Ash Song gets even brighter, starting to glow blue
- Korbus asks “Hey, by the way, did my boy show up yet?” M says not yet and that it’s only been a day. Korbus says “Time passes so different in my dimension, I hate it. God damn it Gwenzaline, why’d you have to do that to my place! I’m so damn bored”
- M asks if he wants to help her try dive into a Fairy’s memories and he says “let’s go”
Detect Thoughts on Sylvara
- M goes to S and gives her the same rundown she gave J, taking her hand and casting detect thoughts
- S immediately lets her push deeper into her thoughts, but it doesn’t work. Instead, M and hear K thinking about going over the plan in her head and figuring out how to make things go smoothly and G thinking about the bracers and wondering if she’d go full wolf or how she’d even activate them
- When M tries to focus back on S there’s just void, and she’s not getting anything from it, almost as if something is missing
- M asks Korbus “You’re probably not the best person to ask about magic stuff, but does this...” He interrupts asking “Is this the kid who lost her memory” M affirms and asks if he might have any idea what’s going on
- Korbus says “It’s probably one of those Fae things, you know how they trade away things to get power or whatever. There is such a thing as crystalised memory, she probably traded or had it taken away in physical form. M remarks that it’s probably the latter and he begins to tell her something before the connection is severed, M thanks him for the help, assuming he can still hear her
- M explains to S what she found and what Korbus told her. S starts to ponder what M said and asks, “Like a shard of my memory is missing?” M says that’s what it seems like
- S says “I think there were tales back in the summer court about people wo make deals with the high fae, but I never... Unless. Maybe these gods were around before they were, maybe it’s something one of the gods can do?” and gets lost deep in though
- M says she’ll go with her to the magic shop tomorrow and they’ll put their heads together to figure something out
Corvin and Althea
- M gives C a bardic and and B gives him one of the Bands of the Found and Lost and they leave to try track down Lunae
- They start looking at the stables, don’t see any sign of Lunae, they talk to a couple people and notice an exotic animal of some kind
- They quickly survey the orchard but don’t find any signs of her
- They don’t find anything at the vineyard either
- They look around the farmstead and find that someone has been plucking some of the vegetables here and there and decide to push further following the lead to The Larksong Dairy Farm and find definite signs that she’s either in there now or had been recently
- Althea checks the house and find the owner dead with a music box waiting by the box that Althea crushes
- They make their way back to Genevieve’s
Jineyih, Sylvara, Kael and Alya
- S convinces the group to go to The Jolly Jackalope with her
- S meets a tall, lanky Half Elf named Joey Swiftarrow and hit it off while the other three sit at a table, keeping an eye on her
- Kael comes up and tells her it’s time to go, Joey asks if he’s her boyfriend and she says “no, I think those two are together” and points at Alya and Kael
- The head back to Genevieve’s
The Silver Hourglass Bathhouse & Spa
- The group arrive at the bathhouse, and easily talk their way in (persuasion B 13, M 26, K 13, G 7) and head up the stairs to see X who runs over to the group, ushers them back down the stairs, dismisses the girl manning the door and “Are you here for...” M affirms
- X says “She isn’t here tonight. From time to time, she doesn’t frequent us at night, I feel like she’s hit her limit and she’s gone off to kill something. She normally kills something in the forest or on the outskirts... I do always fear when she returns, if she does. She tends to come to me around midday on days when she does this” she frowns slightly, glancing to the side as she places her hand over where M recognises there used to be a bruise but is no longer there
- M gives her an empathetic look and she meets her eyes, giving her a slight, sad smile in return before saying “I wouldn’t want to waste your time, but she isn’t here tonight, I’ve decided to stay up, just in case”
- M goes over the plan that they had in mind and M offers to leave her with the Elixir of Deep Slumber just in case and X says “If for whatever reason, she doesn’t show up midday, I’ll come to you. You’re still at Genevieve’s, yes?” M says yes but tomorrow she will be at the magic shop doing some research but will try to be back by midday
- X gives her a wink and says “I’ll meet you there and we can go shopping” M says that sounds good
- M asks if she’d want someone to stay with her just to be safe and she replies, “A tempting offer, but I would hate if our friend were to arrive and I wasn’t available” and gives M a smirk, M is clueless and doesn’t get the implication
- X looks at the group and says, “If this is what you’re planning, I don’t normally do this, but I’m in” M thanks her and under her breath X says “My sister used to be the one to do all the fighting, but maybe it’s my turn to step up”
- M puts a hand on her shoulder says to stay safe and winks, giving her a bardic
