The Bogs of Remorse

The vast swampland that inhabits a large portion of the shoreline of the Bay of Storms is known as The Bogs of Remorse. The region got its name from those few souls who have willingly ventured into the area and were able to return with their lives. They describe any number of terrors, ranging from large tribes of man-eating reptiles to hordes of roaming undead devouring any living thing they come across. Others have returned from the Bogs alive, but not wholly sane, babbling of unspeakable evils performing dark rituals from ghostly towers deep within the swamps.
As one can imagine, the civilized races of the world avoid the swamplands and its mysteries. Even those hardy few that would brave the wintery world of The Northern Wastelands or the arid sands of The Drylands do not attempt to settle in the constantly expanding and receding Bogs of Remorse. Most reasonable folk fear that one day the evil of the Bogs will spill out into the lands of Percens and give the place a wide berth with the nearest settlements at least twenty miles from the outlying areas of the swamp.
