Brumgrir Feltor Brightbeard

Brumgrir Feltor Brightbeard

Brumgrir Feltor Brightbeard (Brightbeard because his family wears gems in their beards. Feltor was his mother's father's name. He was a famous Gnomish explorer.)   His father and mother met and fell in love over gems. His father was buying a new beard gem while on a trading trip to the nearest city, his mother was the gemologist who helped him make the selection.   Mother, Gurna (she took a Dwarven first name, her original name was Zinwyn Sparklegem), a Gnome, is a divination wizard, gemologist, and a jeweler Father, Graden, a Mountain Dwarf, is a defender for Clanhome and a blacksmith Younger Sister, Nywyn, who is smart and takes after her mother. As much as Brumgrir loves ale, his sister can drink him under the table (she got poison resistance, he did not!) Uncle, Brughir, is a bard and a brewmaster He learned both his parent's trades and to love a good ale from his Uncle.   Brumgrir grew up in Clanhome and is the 11th Cousin of Bailais. Growing up he idolized his cousin, wanting to be just like him (a great adventurer!) when he grew up.   Brumgrir takes after his father (smithing) and learned a bit from his mother (Jewelry making and gemstones and a bit of magic), his sister takes after his mother (She'll probably be a Wizard like her mom, she's just that smart).   The teachings of Ulth were always around and integrated into Brumgrir's family life. Whether celebrating Old Stone's Day or playing rock ball, Ulth was ever present. He also spent lots of time running through the tunnels and caves that surround and connect Clanhome to the mountain with his cousins and friends.

Whether celebrating Old Stone's Day or playing rock ball, Ulth was ever present. He also spent lots of time running through the tunnels and caves that surround and connect Clanhome to the mountain with his cousins and friends.   It was during one of these outings that he was playing "Rock or Dwarf" with his friends that his life changed. Brumgrir had found the best spot to hide and was sure nobody would find him and he'd be crowned "King of Rocks", he couldn't wait to see the looks on their faces! What he'd failed to notice was that his hiding spot was on top of a crack...and the crack was pretty wide, and the stone holding him up was very thin. While shifting around in his spot waiting for his certain victory, Brumgrir broke through the thin stone holding him up and he fell down the shaft. He landed awkwardly, feeling something snap in both his legs, then pitched over and hit his head. Everything went black. Some time later (he had no idea how long he had been out), he awoke. He had a large lump on his head and could tell that both his legs were broken. He yelled for help, but his hiding spot was so far away from the others that no one heard him. He started to worry that he might die here, and suddenly being crowned "King of Rocks" didn't seem so important anymore. Brumgrir did the only thing he could think of, he prayed to Ulth for help as hard as he could.   Minutes passed, maybe even hours, and still he continued praying. Finally, he felt something around him shift, it felt like there was a presence with him, but he didn't see anything change. Then, a small earth elemental stepped out of a nearby stone wall. It's hands were glowing with divine light, and it layed them on his wounds. His legs healed, allowing him to climb out of the fissure to safety. The small elemental stayed with him, escorting him out, and has since stayed with him, a constant companion and reminder of that event. Brumgrir named the little elemental Rumbler, because of the sound he makes when he moves. (Rumble-bee, useless pile of stones!) Rumbler became his companion from there on out as he continued his journey towards serving Ulth.   After deciding to become a cleric of Ulth, Brumgrir was assigned by the church of Ulth to accompany and care for a group of dwarves on a year long expedition to seek out a mithril vein (the size of a house!) to help the war effort, that had been reported by another clan of Dwarves, but they never found it. At the site where the mithril vein was supposed to be, they found evidence of Dwarves...but they were all missing...with no signs of them having been there for weeks.   When Brumgrir returned home with the news, his mother told him about a divination she'd had about the missing dwarves. She told him that his path is now outside of Clanhome. She directed him to travel to Winterfall and seek out Lady Baermyla Marblerock and ask her about the significance of the missing dwarves and the large mithril vein. When Brumgrir presented this information to the elders of the church of Ulth, they agreed that he should pursue it, and sent him off to Winterfall to discover what he could.   The warhammer he carries is the first item he made alongside his father on his path to becoming a blacksmith.
