A Succession Crisis leads to horrific Civil War culminating in the establishment of King Maximilian

The late King Rellis V dies with no legitimate heirs, this throws the land into chaos. Lords and other powerful figures back certain bastards. The War was devastating to the Reeds, it caused them a lot of trouble in rebuilding. Eventually, the alliance of Lords under Duke Ethelstan Haroldry established the eldest bastard, Maximilian.   The other heirs were younger and had less of Crannongman blood but were still supported as they could be used as puppet rulers. People to pave the way to their backers rulership. The biggest competitor was the Steeds, Theodra Steed wanted more power, she was backing the young Sigurdr. They lost at the final battle at Steed. Sigurdr was allowed to live under a cadet dynasty, The Van Reeds.
