Hehrnas (HAIR-nass)

"The Urims bought a Hehrnas yesterday!"
-an excited neighbor
The Hehrnas is a species of horse although much, much bigger. Equivalent to the size of a small elephant, the Hehrnas is one of the most desirable work animals in Pentham due to it's pull strength, stamina, and docile manner.

Carmondon Natives

The Hehrnas is a native of the Carmondon peninsula to the east and south of Mescar. These great horses can hardly be found in the wild now but many believe there are more hiding somewhere in the mountain range to the south of the Carmondon capitol.

Hiding in Plain Sight

Although one would think it would be easy to find wild Hehrnas in the mountains, the great horses' ability to hide in plain sight frustrates those looking for the 'lost tribe of Hehrnas'. The Hehrnas have a fantastic ability to slightly color-change their course pelt. Ranging from grey to brown to black, these great animals can blend in to almost any natural surroundings.
"It was standing right there, I promice! I watched as it saw me then shook out it's pelt and moved away! I couldn't see where it went but I did see it!
- a kid telling his parents he had seen a wild Hehrnas

Hehrnas At Work

The biggest reason for the Hehrnas's desirability is their working capabilities. Able to pull five times that of a normal horse, the Hehrnas can outperform any other working animal. Also, they are able to carry a load on their back equivalent to the amount a wagon can carry and can endure a fast hauling pace for up to twenty miles. Overall, the Hehrnas is the ideal working animal.
