The Great Divide

How it is the gods and goddesses came to be separate from the mortal plane of Nucliosia and instead remain steadfast in their own, Mitokosia.

Summary

The myth goes that a mere mortal, pure of heart and able to befriend anyone, had caught the attention of many gods, and then was given their hearts. It was the belief that this attention extended this human's life, and in jealousy all other mortals chased the gods from their plane. Some believe it was the overriding mass demand from hearts and minds that they leave that forced them out by natural law, others may say it was a chase in a physical warring sense. Regardless, such favour would not stand. It's for the fear of the full might of all mortals together that keeps the gods in their domain from which they came. From there they only send gifts of power to their children who show true loyalty - people who would become skilled in the practice would come to be known as faith casters or clerics.

Historical Basis

In actuality, it was out of fear and love that the Core, The Animalian King, became a mortal to fight alongside his creations, the Animalians during the decimation by The Amix hundreds of years ago during peak of The Ae's War. It is among those who remember the true history that this event is referred to as The Great Passing. For his loyal Animalians and the gods alike saw it for what it was, a death. Inevitable. True enough, there came a day the Animalian King passed as a mortal does and his mortals mourned. But it was his divine family that became fearful.

All remaining omnipresent encompassing 'beings' became fearful of the consequences of emotions, connections, and all things from being too close to their creations and the Minds they watched over. They pulled back entirely from the world, so far back they created a new plane, Mitokosia, to where they remain to this day. It is this event, this act, that is referred to as The Great Divide.

From their self enforced containment there they channel small streams of their power to those mortals on Nucliosia who align with their essence and call out for their aid - unfortunately weaker connections rarely make it through the tangled mess of restraints - hastily created in their fear - between their planes. It's for this reason those with stronger long lasting faith in the gods make it through more consistently. One can think of it almost like nerve pathways in the brain.

Spread

The myth is practically common history in that it is fully aware it cannot be confirmed due to record destruction but is 'close enough' through mass acceptance and the fact that ultimately, 'what difference does it make?' seems to be a fairly common outlook.

It is only those connected deeply in the old ways of the Animalians and in an even smaller percentage of the The Amix that still pass on the true tale of history.

Variations & Mutation

Variations appear in the methods of how the gods were 'chased' out of the mortal plane. There are also a vast amount of differences in who the mortal was that captured their hearts and set off the event in the first place. Some may claim his as their own or others may staunchly do the opposite depending on their own values. In other cases parents may use the tale as a lesson or warning and adjust as needed.

Cultural Reception

Traditional Animalians are most ingrained in the original true tale and thus receive the retellings fairly poorly. Meanwhile their natural enemies, The Amix, seem to revel in the rest of the world's natural want to warp the truth in this case as it practically works as propaganda in their favour.
