The Constellation
The near world wide mail service.
A continent-wide organisation centred around sabaism to bring travel and commerce to the citizens of the world. In day to day life, they are known colloquially as the postal service.
They are highly respected and a fair force to be reckoned with, in such as way they are similar to Earth's own postal services. The difference comes in their sense of duty stemming from their worship of the deities of the space domain.
Services
Delivery
- Anyone can deliver mail or parcels to anyone else within a settlement across the world.
- The limitations in what can be sent are limited by how much a single Runner or Wings can carry.
- Anything on a grander scale will be redirected to a larger trade service that may not be available in every location.
- Deliveries within the Post's location can be handled by Runners and generally do not cost much if anything at all
- Deliveries outside of the Post's location will be taken on by Wings and will understandably cost more the further away the target address is.
Pick Up
- Travel is a common thing for many, and far be it for The Constellation to hinder this in any way.
- As such, they offer a service of holding onto mail and tracking their deliveries across the world in ledgers.
- This means someone on the road can check in at a Star Post and be alerted to any deliveries worldwide, either to then personally retrieve it or have it delivered to that specific Post for a fee.
Worship
- Due to the nature of domain of space, The Constellation do not build typical shrines and temples.
- No, their worship and commune come from their acts of travel and trade which is an act that cannot be centred in one location.
- However, the Stabians will offer guidance and services to anyone who is interested and direct them to the best course of action, whether that be to join their number, look for another deity, to set them up to travel and so on or to offer a simple one-time prayer or teaching.
Identification
Uniform: Members aren't restrained to any other clothing items, although many feature deep navy blues, pale yellows and whites according to their deities and will additionally wear symbols of their specific deity
Badge: Boots engraved with the winged symbols of The Constellation. Simply known as 'the winged boots.'
Roles/Ranks
- Solars: The 'heads' of their respective Star Posts.
- Stabians: The priests in the classical sense, they interact with civilians who wish to praise deities of the constellation without joining their number officially. These are the rarest to find at a Star Post since most like to travel by nature
- Sorters: Those that work at the Star Posts, they focus on logging and sorting mail for dispersal
- Runners: Those that deliver mail locally.
- Wings: Those that deliver mail worldwide. They are considered stronger of ability
Members of a smaller Post in smaller settlements may take up multiple roles to compensate for smaller numbers.
Deities
Dedication to one of the deities that make up The Constellation is a must for all members, for it's their drive to follow the domain's decree to travel and trade that drives them and unites them to respect their order. Because of that, there is no single member that rules them all, at most the Solars are managers to refer to for direction and often are anointed for experience, not power (although often those two things come hand in hand anyway).
Faith magic is often granted to those who dedicate themselves to their deities through service in The Constellation. The nature of this magic tends to lend itself to mobility, teleportation and generally magic affecting space.
