Iletian Empire

Thousands of years ago, the Chosen One sacrificed himself to allow celestials to regain entry to the Chained Isles. In exchange, Altir blessed his yet-unborn second son, Fenwir, creating the first Aasimar. To honor both the Chosen One and Altir, Fenwir spent his life uniting the last tribes under a single banner, devoted to enacting good across the isles. For this, he was crowned Fenwir the First, Joiner of the Realms, King of the Iletian Empire.   The night after his coronation, Fenwir was visited by Altir in a dream. She offered to bless his father's lineage and good-doers across the realm with her angelic blessing by marking promising individuals as aasimar, just as she had blessed him. Through this blessing, she may warn the empire and its people of impending evils and ward off of temptation and damnation. In return, the throne of the Iletian Empire must always sit contain an aasimar descendant of the Chosen One.   The next morning, Fenwir's sister gave birth to a daughter, a healthy child with bright eyes and angelic wings - the second aasimar! Confident in Altir's offer, Fenwir gladly issued a royal decree: an aasimar descendent of the Chosen One would always sit upon the Iletian throne.   To this day, the Ilietian Empire rules over the Chained Isles from its capitol in Goldspire. Its current monarch, Lithilian the Brave, sits in the same throne of his ancestor.

Structure

A non-traditional theocratic monarchy, the Iletian Empire is lead by the eldest aasimar descendant of The Chosen One. Aasimar cannot procreate, so the crown is passed down from uncle to nephew or aunt to niece.   Like all governing bodies, no one person can make every decision for the entire kingdom. The monarch unilaterally passes laws and sweeping decisions, the execution of these laws is lead by the Grand Inquisitor.
