Planetary Rail

Purpose / Function

The Khonsu planetary rail network is a hypocycloid transit network constructed under the planet's rocky depth to transport gravity trains efficiently and quickly.

Design

This subterranean world is a labyrinthine marvel. There actually several large tunnels interconnected with several smaller service ducts branching off into easily discernible paths and intersecting with other meticulously planned train tunnels.   The walls of the tunnels are made from a smooth, metallic alloy coved in geometric lines, now dulled by time. It is supposed that the tunnels, curving down and up, hollow out the entire planet. Which has led some to suggest that all of Khonsu may have been a planet ship.

Khonsu Triangle

The Triangle is a habital potion of Khonsu in the southern hemisphere. It possesses a concentric ring of different climates, much like the pupil, iris and white of an eye. Unlike normal eyeball planets, the Triangle is formed from the warming and magnetic protection provided by Agartha.   It is under the pupil where the only known entrance into the ruins can be found.

Sensory & Appearance

It doesn't have a name. It's just rail. Rail and tunnel.   This place is not safe.
The tunnels are filled with an unsettling silence, but may be broken by the occasional soft hum of residual energy still coursing through the structure.   Every sound echoes through the corridors, creating an illusion of movement and life that can unsettle even the most seasoned explorers.

Denizens

Emongs

A silicon-based lifeform that moves through the planet's earthy interior under the ice.   They remain mysterious to the colonists as they seem to live in the planet's solid interior. When observed, they appear to warp the surface in minuet ways like flies moving through smoke. A rock can appear to grow or shrink to fit their movement that permanently morphs the rock face into different abstract shapes as they move away.

Gravity Trains

The trains themselves are encrusted in layers of ice. Some such carriages have been crushed by the weight, while others still obstruct the way. Leaving just a horseshoe-shaped space for explorers to squeeze through.   Calculations suggest that after a 10 minute drop, and 300km under the surface, the 1 ton modules could have traveled 1km/s.

Special Properties

Gravitational Anomalies

Slowed Time
There is a measurable slowing of clocks at the very deepest point of the tunnels, just before they start curving towards the surface again.
Lightning Bolts
In inexplicable moments, long sections of the tunnels can suddenly flash brightly for a few milliseconds.
Heaviness
At the same time as experiencing slowed time, explorers also report feeling 1.5 times more gravity than normal.

Architecture

Cavernous

There is nothing here
These curves follow a path of a point on a smaller circle rolling within the larger sphere of the planet. This way optimizes the way the train travels by minimizing sharp turns and sudden changes in direction.   The tunnel walls are reinforced with a metallic alloy that resists corrosion and extreme temperatures; and are covered in what might-have once been electromagnets.

Tourism

Explorers

Gammians traversing the terrain in specialized talos, do so in the hopes of scavenging superior technology to grant advantages against their enemies.   Occasionally, explorers might stumble upon what appear to be deactivated consoles, frozen and inoperable, hinting at the capabilities of an advanced species.

Environmental Effects
A creeping frost has claimed the entire system.   The air is frigid, stalactites of ice hang from the ceiling and the floor is coated in a thick layer of frost that crunches underfoot.
