Maude O'Hanlon

Maude O'Hanlon has been alone for years.    Her husband, Seán, died in an industrial accident almost twenty years ago now, and they didn't have any children to speak of.    She has mostly withdrawn from society, only going out to the markets when necessary. Her relationship with her upstairs neighbor, Finn Caden, is probably the most interaction she gets with anyone on a daily basis, and she clings to that quite strongly.

Social

Family Ties

The O'Hanlons left any family they had in Ireland when they immigrated, and the couple themselves never had any children.

Religious Views

Maude, like many Irish immigrants, is a staunch Catholic.

History

Maude has lived in this brownstone for longer than Finn has been alive, but when a fellow Irishman moved in upstairs, she took an immediate interest in him.   Of course, being the stubborn person she is, she couldn't simply smother him in affection - it is quite likely in fact, that Finn thought she despised him for quite some time.   But then she started making him traditional Irish cuisine, like colcannon, because "if you starve to death, someone else even worse could move in upstairs - then where will I be?!"   In time, they have become warmer and more familial, but there is still much friendly bickering betwen the two of them.

Nicknames & Petnames

Maude tends to call Finn "a leanbh (uh LAN-uv)", or “my child.”

Wealth & Financial state

Maude gets a stipend from her husband's workplace every month. It's not much, but she can live off of it.
