Vokresh

The Eternal Ring

Vokresh is a major deity worshiped mainly on the continent of Romaya and some portions of Savihd. Vokresh represents not only life itself, but the passage of time, and the inevitable ends it brings. Every end brings a new beginning though. Followers of the god tend to focus on the darker aspects of Vokresh to remind themselves to live in the moment. Cherish loved ones for they may not be there tomorrow, seek out the treasures one has always wanted to find before time wears their body down. Funerals are treated like any other celebration, much like birthdays. Being a god of life, death, and rebirth; holidays associated with Vokresh are celebrated in the spring and autumn months.   Undeath and the use of lifespan enhancing magic is seen as an act against Vokresh. Clerics and paladins of the god are known for their skill in hunting undead and are often employed by foreign kingdoms for this purpose. Not all who follow Vokresh hold such a disdain for such creatures. They feel as if a god that actively shuns the concept of fate should hold some manner of pride for those who take direct action against time. These beliefs are kept to themselves for fear of ostracism or incurring the wrath of the those among the clergy of the Sanctum of the Senses, the oldest church devoted to Vokresh.   Vokresh's clergy as a whole are often referred to as the "mourners" due to their unusual and uncomfortable choice of attire in a tropical climate. The mourners are dressed in black, wearing a medallion or a ring of the ouroboros. They also adorn themselves with veils or shrouds, though it isn't in an effort to hide their identities.
