Session 49: This Ship Has Sailed

General Summary

Unfortunately for us, captain Hugo doesn’t take the news of our plan very well. The more we explain it, the more frustrated he gets. Despite us assuring him that this is going to be a fair deal for all parties involved, it didn’t turn out as fair as we anticipated. Upon gathering all of the crew members we wanted, word gets around that we’re breaking away from the Wicked Reckoning. Hugo’s left to watch as the entirety of his crew abandons him, all except Lonnie and Noah. We leave him with a pile of gold and a literal skeleton crew to ensure he can get back to shore.       We promise to send possible recruits his way considering we’re at full capacity without even trying. This does little to quell the sinking feeling of betrayal in his heart, but that’s his problem to deal with. We learn that Lonnie never left Hugo’s side because she’s a protean in disguise. His family’s indebted to her for unknown reasons, so she’s tasked Hugo with sailing her around the world to cause chaos. All of his now former officers were growing tired of a mission without a clear end in sight, hence why they jumped at the opportunity to get away.       We name our ship the “Rolling Storm”, and the major crew is as follows. Me, TT, and Amelia make up the admiralty board and we get two votes each due to us also being among the officers. The officers are Julius as our spellmaster, Catani is a quartermaster once more, Serenity is our medic, Antik is our secretary and jailer, Terrence is our head carpenter, and Nathan is our potion master. Other people of importance are Zoey as our beastmaster, Stabby as head chef (and only chef if they had a choice), Tonari as a scout, and Harvey as our foreman. Despite Amelia’s insistance, we opt not to vote her in as captain. Catani’s a viable candidate, but she doesn’t seem thrilled about the position.       Our next best choice is Inami, who’s both confident and skilled enough to handle that role. Amelia does get a promotion though and becomes the ship’s treasurer. Our crew is going to need weapons and armor, and the ship itself needs upgrades, so we stop into the nearest sleazy port town. We’re giving the crew a three day break to go equip themselves, so Amelia hits the bar with Inami and ends up drunk enough to talk about her feelings for me. She questions why I was willing to sacrifice so many to bring her back only to threaten to throw her overboard if she dies again. Inami tells her the best thing she can do is talk to me because at the end of the day, Inami’s not a mind reader.       I go out hunting with Zoey and also talk about my feelings. Everything seems strained between me and Amelia, but instead of advice, I’m mocked for falling in love. She suggests I pay Antik to raid Amelia’s room in the hopes that she has a diary. It sounds like a perfect plan to me. TT hangs out with Nathan and manages to learn about why the relationship between him and Stabby fell apart and afterwards, we all meet back on the ship.       Our next plan of action is to sail back to Valimar so that the Estus Eolaviel, the spy, can turn in his report on the elven nation we robbed. His nation is planning to go to war with them because of their crimes, which includes their involvement in the slave trade. Leaving them to carry on as criminals paints other elven nations in a bad light, so Estus’ government wants this dealt with.
