Session 48: Showmanship

Written by Frankie V.

General Summary

Come morning, we’re all scattered about on the ship and doing our own things. When we get back together, we go over our ridiculous plan once more, adding a little more polish to it with the hope that it’ll actually work. We intend to get the crew wasted as they watch the burlesque show, some of them earning a “mark” to keep track of their drinks. It’s really just poison slapped onto a makeup brush, but shhh, they don’t have to know that. While we tend to the crowd, Kieran is tasked with killing the admiral and his officers. He’s given a much deadlier poison to slip into their drinks, his rouse being that he’s there for a game of poker.   To keep the crew’s trust, we ask for Ulrich’s permission to do the show tonight and party it up. He isn’t a fan of the idea at first, but TT manages to convince him that his entire crew is terribly depressed and in need of a good time, otherwise, we’ll all have to keep watch of the ship’s rope for the next month. Ulrich’s startled by this revelation and after going over some details, he’s more than happy to give his men time off. Amelia and Inami run off to prepare for the show while the rest of us figure out where and what we’ll be doing. Me and TT will man the bar, Cayde will hide under the floor and wait for the attack, and Stabby and Tonari will keep to the kitchen.     The show is a massive success. Inami works the crowd with jokes a plenty while Amelia proceeds to lose several articles of clothing. The crew are making frequent trips to the bar, striking up casual conversation with me and TT before slamming down another drink and getting their “mark”. When the show’s grand finale rolls around, Inami reads the scroll of reverse gravity and no one’s the wiser considering their burlesque show theme was “sexy wizards”. Hundreds of drunken elves are sent to the skies before crashing into the ocean, too far out (in many ways) to make it back to the ship. There’s still a sizable crowd on the deck, but Amelia takes out a majority of them with prismatic spray.     In the end, six of the crew is left standing. Two of them were driven insane by Amelia’s spell and that’s only painted her as a target for the other four. She’s knocked down quickly, but before any of them can strike the killing blow, she goes incorporeal, and flees to the deck below. It isn’t long after that that we manage to take out the rest thanks to the help of a spy that happened to be aboard the ship. There’s no time for introductions though because the guard ships are right behind us. The slaves are freed and told to grab weapons while Amelia’s fresh skeletons man the canons. I shoot a feather token onto one of the ships, anchoring it in place for the next 24 hours.     One ship has yet to sail into our sights, but the last one is right on us. It’s a tense chase with no way of getting away from them and they want to ram the fuck out of us. With the power of canons, magic, a feral ape, and friendship, we’re able to sink them. Kieran managed to kill a single officer while the others were knocked out or incomprehensibly drunk, so we finish them off before sailing away. With all that this ship has compared to our current one, we decide that we’ll break away from the Wicked Reckoning and form our own crew. Several people are more than eager to go with and the others we wanted needed some convincing.     To keep a good relationship between both crews, we give the Wicked Reckoning a huge, thick load of…gold, you fucking pervert. Now the dividing of assets can begin.
