Session 34: Unlucky Charms Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 34: Unlucky Charms

General Summary

Once we reach the ship and fill Owkbanok in on everything that’s transpired since his narcolepsy took over, we’re all divided on what to do with Gertrude. Amelia’s pissed and wants to exact revenge in the form of poetic justice. We’ll drag her down into the tunnels and feed her to the undead remains of her “god”. Owkbanok thinks it’s a brilliant plan and wants to feed into that chaos, but me and TT feel like that’s a lot of work for one undine. We’d rather loot her house and kill her quickly in the process. Compromise? Unlikely with this group…unless you utter that juicy, little word called “torture”. Amelia and Owk get the chaos they crave and me and TT don’t have to step foot into those fucking caverns again.     Amelia decides the best way to get on Gertrude’s good side to ambush her is to disguise ourselves as the cultists. It would’ve been a good plan had any of us been able to speak aquan, but it’s a small hiccup none of us realize until the last moment. We let ourselves into our home as it’s also the middle of the night, but Gertrude doesn’t seem too alarmed by our disguised presence. The minute she asks us something in her native tongue, the rouse is over and Amelia uses magic to basically take her hostage. A domination spell, or as she lovingly decides to call it; "love slave". We’re all left reeling over that creepy name and give her a stern talking to about consent and the likes, but Amelia sees nothing wrong with the implications and carries on as normal. Or what’s normal for her, at least.     We have Gertrude lead us through her home and to all of her valuables, robbing this woman blind and interrogating the shit out of her the whole way. She’s a part of a guild that worshipped this spider and intended to use it to take back their lands from the elven kingdoms. We think this bodes well for our current mission and ask her if any of them would be willing to help us topple the knife-eared empire, but she rudely declines and thus, serves no use to us anymore. Before we can kill her off, she unfortunately breaks the hold Amelia has on her mind and rather than run, Gertrude tries to put up a fight. It’s not a very good one, but we can give her an A+ for effort. With a handy dandy suffocation spell, Gertrude is no more, but in her final moments, she casts phantasmal killer on Amelia and takes her out of this world with her.     Gertrude has enough life left in her eyes to watch her handiwork unfold, but it isn’t long before I put an arrow straight through her throat while the others tend to Amelia. She’s gone. Owkbanok and Nathan rush her back to the ship, getting a stern lecture about the use of torches in the city after dark, but they make it back safely. She’s rushed to our cleric who confirms the grave news, but assures us she’ll care for her body while we decide our next course of action. Seeing how distraught Amelia’s death leaves me clues TT in that perhaps I liked our friendly neighborhood necromancer a little too much. She gives me a hug and offers to buy me a prostitute to lift my spirits and while the gesture is appreciated, now’s not the time for such pleasures.     We want to bring her back from the dead, but the one witch we know who could accomplish such a feat is dead by our hands. Powerful people like that exist everywhere, but we don’t have much time to track them down to the ends of the world. TT makes a grim suggestion, one I immediately latch onto as our only hope currently. Contact Amelia’s true mother and strike a deal. I still have the magic mirror the hag used to spy on Amelia and with Julius’ help, he’s able to scry on the hag herself. She’s a part of a coven with at least two other hags and from the stone and dirt around them, I’m able to figure out they’re most likely in the Haim Sea. After explaining most of this to the captain, minus anything pertaining to hag visitations, we have his blessing to abandon our current task and sail out for the next few weeks.
