Session 33: My Undine Devotion Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 33: My Undine Devotion

General Summary

With an assassination well done, we celebrate on the ship for the night. Amelia makes the mistake of hitting on Stabby after she gets piss drunk and earns herself a knife to the gut. This doesn’t deter her though as she truly doesn’t believe who it is and gets stabbed two more times before Stabby storms off and leaves her to drag herself to our cleric. TT gives Brahmin a tour of the ship, getting him acquainted with everyone and helping him pick a spot to sleep in. Owkbanok immediately passes out, leaving me to debrief the captain on what happened as well as our next mission. After letting him know we intend to head out and go spelunking, he asks me to figure out which of us intends to drop 600 gold to fix the cafeteria. I tell him Owkbanok would like to take responsibility for his actions and make my leave.     Before we tuck in for the night, I visit Noah to see if he’s learned anything from the Sea Scoundrel journal and unfortunately come to realize that he’s too illiterate for such a task. I take the journal back and pay Stabby a visit, feeling like they’re truly the only one I can trust with this task. They’re not doing cartwheels over this new job, but agree to do it so long as I tell Amelia to stop flirting with them. It’s a deal! Mostly. Amelia still doesn’t realize her assailant and the man of her dreams last night was Stabby and refuses to acknowledge that such a mishap happened. We all meet up on the top deck, deciding that both Nathan and Brahmin will join us on this mission since Owk’s still busy. The contract leads us to a lavish home in an undine neighborhood, Gertrude telling us that her family’s fortune was lost in the caves because her sister decided to play the part of a trouble runaway.     TT is instantly suspicious of her, but the rest of us don’t pick up on what troubles her. It is odd that she wouldn’t have attempted to retrieve the stuff earlier and it’s especially strange that her sister departed with much of the family’s fortune, but stranger things have happened. We decide not to linger the train of thought that this might be a trap, choosing to believe Gertrude’s story. Once we depart, the entrance to the cavern system isn’t hard to find at all. Much of the caverns are submerged in water completely, but this is hardly an issue thanks to Amelia’s magic. We explore everything that opens up to us, finding corpses a plenty along with their personal treasures. Eventually we come across our first threat, a large anemone that lashes out the minute we get too close. Amelia wants to harvest it for its poisons, but as TT gets tangled up in its tentacles, forcing us to kill it. Luckily for Amelia, we managed to get the poisons anyways and carry on.     More miscellaneous treasures before we reach one of the rooms at the end of the caverns. Turns out TT was right in her suspicions. Gertrude sent us on a suicide mission, leaving us as bait for a giant, sentient sea spider that her people worship. The ensuing fight proves difficult for all of us, especially TT and Brahmin who are swallowed whole and nearing death with every minute. We manage to turn the tables in our favors, TT cutting herself free from its throat and putting an end to its life. While we’re busy making sure she’s okay, Brahmin is overcome by the spider’s poison and promptly dies. Amelia excitedly goes to raise him as a zombie so he lives on, but his body breaks down in the water quickly, swept away with the current. His final words? "At least I didn’t die as a slave.“     We go to make our leave, the illusionary wall fading and revealing a crowd of hostile undine. They’re killed quickly and we finish up looting, encountering a psion who would’ve been a great addition to our party. Unfortunately, his loyalties lie with his people and there’s no way we can ensure he won’t betray us later, so we kill him as well. With the spider’s church carefully looked over and TT’s strange knowledge of these undine’s religion, we know the rest of its followers probably won’t be back for a week or so. Gives us enough time to make our way back to the ship and fill Owkbanok in on everything that’s transpired. With his help, we’ll put an end to Gertrude.
