Sealance steppe
The Sealance Steppe is a semi-arid plain that extends south of Bridgetown until roughly the height of Sidewind, where it gradually turns into the flat but rocky Sealance Desolation. It is the largest geographical feature of Sealance.
The steppe is characterized by roughly plain terrain and sparse and low vegetation, with a climate varying from mediterranean in the northern area around Bridgetown and in the western coast, to semi-arid in the south, where the Sealance Desolation starts. Both coasts have fresher climate than the mainland thanks to the wind and the presence of the sea. These plains are in fact a transitional biome from mediterranean to semi-arid.
The northern area is famous for the presence of huge horse ranches owned by the most prominent families of Bridgetown, and while the soil is hard and not too suited for agriculture, it still shows scattered farmland and has a moltitude of cattle and horse pastures. Few woods can be seen, mostly maritime pines and other trees suited to the harsher environment near the coasts or other water bodies.
The central area of the steppe transitions towards semi-arid, with fewer and fewer pastures and less frequent woods. Villages here often rely on subsistence farming, whether growing hard crops or shepherding goats. In this central area of the steppe, villages and towns are almost entirely located on the coasts.
