Integrated

Appearance
Integrated are a mix of Terran and AI, an attempt to maximize the best traits of both. Generally a Terran has completed their organic their brain with an AI via nano-injection. In extreme cases, an entire hemisphere of the Terran brain has been replaced with an AI, and the two halves have learned (or are learning) to cooperate. Wealthy Integrated may appear as Terrans with minor cranial augmentations. Those opting for cheaper surgeries may appear more machine than Terran.
Physicality
Once a Terran has an AI in its brain, they are considered a new species: Integrated. Integrated are often cybernetically enhanced in other ways as well to prevent issues wherein an organic body cannot respond to an AI brain with sufficient speed. This technology has been in existence for more than eighty years, so most bugs have been worked out. Still, proper integration is expensive, so a thriving black market of cyberneticists fill the gap, often skipping high-ticket items like seamless integration and manufacturers warranties. Because Integrated were conceived of as Terrans began to envy the mental and physical capabilities of AI, Integrated can typically defeat a Terran, a Tender, or an AI in a purely physical contest. Over time, AI nano-injection also became an effective if imperfect solution for Terrans with debilitating ailments like brain tumors, strokes, or other medical or debilitating ailments of the brain.
Culture
Despite their name, Integrated do not find cultural assimilation easy. They work in both Terran and AI environments, but are still disorienting to many, often coming across as formal and robotic to core Terrans, and clunky and awkward when surrounded by AI. Even a small glitch at an inopportune time can be unsettling. As such, Integrated often drift towards others like them on both core and edge worlds. Integrated are known for their unique skills in sports, creative arts, and knowledge of the latest tech and augmentations. The term “gearhead,” while often accurate, is considered a slur.
Systems & Corps
Integrated are generally a sought-after diversity inclusion in most corps, as they serve as capable liaisons, technicians, pilots, and even soldiers. Outside the corporate ecosystem, Integrated are in high-demand for their mental and physical abilities as Routers, smugglers, and bodyguards.
