Agralis

Agralis is a planet of tropical archipelagos. Due to an axial tilt of 45 degrees, an extremely slow rotation, but a revolution of 26 Earth hours, the planet is the only known world with no particular seasons, and equal amounts of the star’s warmth hitting the poles as the equator. Combined with 17 moons and three sets of rings, Agralis has some of the best weather and some of the richest scenic beauty of all Terran worlds.

Geography

While the planet is 93% covered in water, and only the size of Mercury, the remaining 7% of the planet has been divided and colonized by a wide variety of factions, most assigning districts for industrial, commercial, residential and tourism. As such, each corp attempts to outdo the other with more and more elaborate themes, like an interstellar version of 20th-century Las Vegas. This has made Agralis one of the most popular planets for tourism, at least among those who can afford to reach the Edge.   The planet’s potential - with the trifecta of a “goldilocks” axial tilt, rotation and revolution as well as distance from the star Agralis, was the key draw for the corps. Many resources were put into terraforming, and multiple corps combined resources much as they were doing simultaneously on The Wheel at the time.   Agralis was a toxic world, and while rich in water, it was initially also equally rich in argon, chlorine and methane gas. Gradually, Terrans transformed the planet into a rich and diverse world of islands with an extensive irrigation system connecting all of them. The “before” and “after” posters of Agralis became promotional tools for The Greens across all systems.

Tourism & Entertainment

The latest attraction on the planet is called The Galactic Tour, owned and operated by media conglomerate Richter Entertainment. It is an elaborate series of environments, each the size of a small city, constructed underwater and next to one another, meant to simulate the atmosphere, gravity, wildlife, and cuisine of each of the over a dozen Terran worlds. They have even hired actors of each species of Terran that inhabit those worlds to provide an authentic experience of planet-hopping. For those on a budget, it has become very popular for those who cannot possibly visit every system, but want to know what they might be missing. New visitors tend to attempt to visit every setting in one trip, while veterans of the Tour simply have a favorite they visit each time. Richter is currently under construction of a half dozen more environments, in preparing for the upcoming Terran expansion as colony ships arrive in systems like Selir, Lycia, Optar, and others. The Esoqq environment is due to be the next to open.

Fauna & Flora

When Terran Systems first explored Agralis, they came across a first - a planet with animal-like life. While not sentient, these small insect-like beings were found to be excreting toxic gases, making the planet uninhabitable to any but themselves. The lack of other wildlife on the planet at first stumped Systems scientists as it flew in the face of the concept of an ecosystem. It was eventually learned it was a byproduct of a form of photosynthesis, something previously unseen in animal life.   The debate began: what should humanity do with this species if we cannot coexist? It became a focal point of discussion, protests, and even armed conflict between The Greens and The Reds. In the end, the outcry became too big, and the decision was made among leaders on The Wheel to colonize the planet. The species, dubbed Agrali Termites, were relocated to a more suitable, uncolonized moon to allow them to maintain their prior lifestyle.
