The Reds (SANGRE)

In the interests of fairness, Terran Systems will list the organization SANGRE in this encyclopedia. As previous posts were declared "unfairly biased," the below information has been copied verbatim from SANGRE itself.
  Begin copy, SANGRE routing site:
A loose amalgam of environmental and scientific organizations combine to form the Board of Directors of SANGRE, or The Scientific Alliance for the Natural Growth of Research in Exploration. SANGRE’s mission is to preserve the lifeblood of the planets humanity encounters on its expansion across the stars, which generally means advocating for leaving unterraformed planets in their natural state and utilizing only the naturally habitable ones for colonization. Unfortunately, their name, original mission to keep Mars un-terraformed, and their penchant for protests turning violent, led to the oft-used derogatory nickname, "The Reds."
SANGRE is generally in favor of more controlled expansion of human populations, especially onto barely-explored worlds. After Mars was successfully transformed to look like Earth, colonization has become such that humans are terraforming worlds sometimes weeks or months after first arriving in the system, without necessarily taking the time to explore the planets’ natural wonders, resources, or possible lifeforms. SANGRE's personnel include many scientists and pharmaceutical companies, a large number of religions, many naturalists/environmentalists, and a large swath of the medical community.
As you might expect, The Greens often attempt to subvert SANGRE's mission, frequently leading to conflict. As most corporations tend to profit from the multi-trillion dollar industries that are Terraforming and Colonization, corporate law tends to side with the Greens, often depicting us at SANGRE as little more than a terrorist organization.

Public Agenda

The Reds want:
  • To preserve the natural beauty of worlds. To document worlds for science’s sake, before terraforming for human benefit destroys eons of natural planetary evolution. To ensure sufficient efforts are made to learn about worlds before colonies settle there, so no oddities such as viruses or adverse reactions occur on the surface and no organisms are inadvertently wiped out when the climate changes. To prevent hasty terraforming which they feel may lead to abandoned colonies or citizens stranded on barely-habitable worlds.
