Eyes of Gefrin

Some say they are the real eyes of a God, turned to stone by some ancient curse. Others that they are part of some strange ritual long abandoned. I just know that I do not like being near them. The very air around them seems wrong.
— Master Helenia
History as we know it goes back over four thousand years. From the beginnings of civilization to the Era of Restoration archeologists, mages and historians have painstakingly kept record of the happenings on the Mortal Plain.   But there was a time before all of that. Before humans began to form communities, build cities and hesitantly delved into the mysteries of Mana. It is known as the Primordial Age and we see its remnants strewn around the world. Mysterious ruins of long forgotten purpose. Among them the Eyes of Gefrin.

God's Eyes

The Eyes can be found all over the world. Some among the highest peaks, others hidden in forgotten caves , deep inside shadowy woods or at the bottom of lakes. They all look the same. A single circular expanse, about thirty meters across and half a meter deep. Its surface is perfectly flat, no blemishes of any kind to be seen.   With one exception they consist of grey stone. Lighter sections indicate a pattern of some sort but nothing defenitive can be proven. The one that stands out from the norm is located under the Temple of Lemeron. It is a circle made of a glass like substance, yet harder than diamond. The edges coloured a scarlett red that dissappears into a black abyss at the center.
