Court of Feyn

"Long, long ago, there was a time when there was no moon and all things walked the world." Grandame Galashin told the young elves, her grand children. They all sat gathered about her under the shade of a might oak.   "How come there was no moon?" Hachasin asked. She was always the one with questions.   "Shhh." Tathal said and gave her a little shove.   Hachasin stuck her tongue out as Tathal but turned back to listen to Grandame.   Galashin smiled at the antics.   "Settle down, children," she gently scolded.   The other four children turned to glare and Hachasin and Tathal. The two ignored each other, and the other children, to look expectantly at Galashin as thought they had done nothing.   Hiding a small smile at their antics, Galashin continued.
"During this time there were many Great Ones. One of them, Ozozia, was wisest of them all. She warned the other Great Ones of the Breaking that was coimg but they were too arrogant to think they could not stop such a thing."   Hachasin clapped her hands over her mouth as questions lit up her eyes.   "Seeing they would do nothing, Ozozia set about working her greatest magic desperatley fast in hopes of saving her believers. As fast and as mightily as she worked, she ran out of time.   "With one last desperate casting, she gave all of her magic, and all of herself, and created the mystical realm of Feyn."   The children all stared wide-eyed at Grandame.   "B-but we come from Feyn." Hachasin said, her little brow furled. "Why did we leave her?"   "That is the fault of the Court of Feyn, my dear." Galashin answered. "And a tale for when you are much older."   "Awww," all the children groaned.

Origin

When the ancient goddess Ozozia created Feyn, her very essence became crossings from the world into Feyn for her believers to escape the Breaking. When the world shattered and the gods remade it, these crossings remained on which ever bit of the world they had been on and are now scattered throughout the world. More than the believers of Ozozia entered Feyn. Some terrible and monstrous. Only by banding together, could these terrible things be defeated before they destroyed all those within Feyn.   The believers quickly realized that these crossings had to be dealt with if they wished to survive. A council was formed with one member of each of the many species of believers joining in. Working together, they quickly realized that the crossings, being the remnants of a godess, could not be destroyed. However, they could be hidden. With the combined magics of all the Fey, as those in Feyn now called themselves, they made the crossings impossible to find. Then, to prevent any mischief from their fellow Fey, they erased all memories of where the crossing were both out in the world and within Feyn itself.

Evolution

The Council of Feyn, whose memories of the crossings were erased with everyone elses, changed from a temporary gathering to deal with a major crisis, to become the governing body or all of Feyn. A heirachry was established, with every representative having a voice in court no matter their rank or duties within the council.   Trouble still wandered in through the crossing but only now and again. Still, these were tthreats that needed handling so the Council created a group to deal watch for and deal with these threats. This group is called the Rangers.   The Rangers, over time, built a record of the crossings trouble had come through. Their record slowly grows but is still a long way from listing every crossing.

The Splintering

With the Rangers in charge of troubles from the crossings, the Court became a place for Fey politics. As is the way with politics, factions were formed. These factions coalesced into three: the Nezfey, the Zulfey, and the Dolfey, each with their own Courts   Contentious fighting, trickeries, betrayals, and such things became the way of the Court. Disgusted with all this, and often the target of the other two factions, the Nezfey left Feyn, returning to the remade made and the rule of the gods. This left only the Zulfey and Dolfey to vie against each other. So intense is their rivalry, that the Court of Feyn only convenes on each equinox where disputes broght by the Rangers are resolved. Known for executing any Court of Feyn representative who fails to appear and work towards honest resolutions to the matters during the Equinoxes, the Rangers are the only force able to inspire cooperation between the Zulfey and Dolfey.
