Don’t let your country fall into the succession crisis it’s heading towards,” Selene looked at Emil coldly but sincerely. “A succession crisis may have made me Queen, but I won by default. These kinds of wars have no winners, and they only lead to a lot of death. I lost my brother and my husband, murdered before my very eyes to wipe out my house to leave the two remaining to fight the final fight. Their claimants ended up both dying in the same battle, leaving my son and me as the winners by default.” She stood up, dusting her skirt a bit. “If you let her take the throne from you, you and your sisters will have a target on your back for the rest of your lives. Malken may not have laws of legitimacy, she may be your father’s eldest child, but you are his eldest legitimate heir. Your claim is a lot stronger in that way, and you owe her nothing.”

Personal history
Born to the Lovett branch of the extended Royal Family of Eden, as a Princess of the Blood her great-grandmother being a Princess, Selene was supposed to live a comfortable and lavish life. She did, for a time that seems like a lifetime away from her now. She grew up at her elder brother Tybalt's side, practically attached to the hip. At the age of 22, she was married to her husband, Valentine Blythe. Although they had been betrothed since childhood, their marriage was a happy one, producing Selene's only son, Levi. Life was good for a good 6 years up until the King of Eden passed away. With no clear successor to the throne, a succession crisis and thus a civil war broke out. Three families: the Bennetts, the Whitts, and Lovetts found themselves competing for the throne, first two more than the latter. Tragedy struck Selene's family towards the end of the war when her brother and husband were executed to eliminate the Lovetts. Fearing for her and her son's life, Selene managed to escape and seek sanctuary in the Soul Temple. [WIP]
Education
Selene received a detailed education fit for any young noblewoman, though she had a larger focus on how to run a household. When she ascended as Queen, however, she took up further education in politics and state affairs in order to rule efficiently.
Employment
Selene is Queen of Eden, not by her choice but by default as the survivor of the succession crisis. Despite the way she became Queen, she works hard to be a good ruler to her people with as little uninformed influence from her ministers and advisors.
Mental Trauma
The civil war left a lot of trauma that Selene suffers from. She still often has nightmares of her brother and husband's executions as well as constant stress for her son's safety.

Selene became Queen of Eden fairly recently, about three years ago. Much of her reign has been stabilizing the country's politics, using her piety and devotion to the Cult of the Soul God, and her two children to unify the people and strengthen her rule.
