Crown of the Kobold King, Part 2
General Summary
As the party continued through the woods following their dubious guide, Jeva, the came across a razorcrow with a broken wing. Gwen immediately cast detect evil, and while the shapechanged imp may have been weak, it was still a devil, and the spell gave it away, but not before the nasty little creature turned invisible. The party used its skills from a past encounter (prestidigitated water and silver daggers), and soon overpowered it. However, this got them thinking about their child-guide a bit more and decided to question her. Night was coming soon, however, and she was cold, so Richter let her use his tent while the party kept watch for the night by the fire.
The next day, party bickering eventually led them all to the conclusion to cross the river on a makeshift raft, an idea Jeva really sank her teeth into. Once the party was split by the river and the tiny raft, she saw her chance and changed into a lycanthrope, and attacked Richter. Gwen sicced his dogs on her, while Garth nearly drowned trying to cross the river to help. Nightlock did his best to encourage the party with song as they were now in a fight with something they didn't fully understand. Eventually, they subdued her, and proceeded to argue about what to do with her, to Jeva's amusement. When Garth stepped in and tried to teach her about focusing her evil desires, she agreed, and bit him in the neck. Gwen had enough when she bit him, too, and the party finished her off. Richter expressed frustration, but resignation.
Nursing their wounds, the party decided to recross the river and continue following the kobold tracks, since they didn't know if Jeva was lying or not about the kobolds being in the monastery, and since they couldn't find any tracks north of the river. Still deep in the forest, they encountered a living plant known as an assassin vine which nearly killed Garth. It seems Darkmoon Vale would not give up its prey easily, and the party trudged on after the kidnapped children.
