Crown of the Kobold King, Part 1
General Summary
Gwen gathered some local adventurers to investigate some missing children. Taking the ferry into Falcon's Hollow, they met with Magistrate Vamros Harg and discovered the names of the 5 families with missing children. Garth managed to call out (probably correctly) the local guard thugs, but eventually the party settled on finding each children's parents and using dogs to track the scent of each child:
Asking the neighborhood kids about the missing children revealed they were all friends and made a secret dare to stay overnight at the "hounted" ruins of Elara's Halfway House, about 10 miles outside of town. They found a makeshift camp there and signs of a struggle with dozens of kobold tracks and scales leading into the forest. Ignoring the ruined orphanage, the party set up camp for the night and had a long "discussion" about the proper way to adventure: Richter argued for a direct route, no fires in dangerous areas, and surviving off trail rations to find the children quicker, while Gwen promoted a warm fire, fresh rabbit hunted by Garth, and a late-night story performed by Nightlock. The argue eventually died down, especially with the arrival of Garth's fresh rabbit for the hangry party. Garth didn't warm himself by the fire, however, preferring the company of his big ass.
The next day saw the party exploring the woods and discovering a lone survior of the orphanage fire, a dirty human child named Jeva. She told them about the scars Elara left on her, and had apparently been living alone in the Vale for a year. The party was suspicious of her story, but agreed to let her lead them to the kobold's stronghold in an old dwarven monastery on the other side of the forest. Seeing that she was following the kobold trail, the party set their reservations aside for the moment and headed deeper into the increasingly darkening woods...
- Kimi Eavewalker is daughter of a local hero, a ranger named Idris who's been missing for some time. The party did not speak with her family.
- Mikra Jabbs is a bit of a slow learner, but is sometimes read to by Jurin Kreed. The party did not speak with his family.
- Jurin Kreed is a 10-year-old gnome son of Thuldrin Kreed, the Gavel of the Logging Consortium and the de facto leader of the town. They collected a shoe and were promised a reward.
- Savram Vade is the son and apprentice of a local necromancer Sarvaros Vade. Sarvaros seemed only insterested in the boy's developing spellcasting powers, however, but was convinced to cast augury for the party on their pursuit of the children into the Darkmoon Forest. They received a result of "weal and woe" and collected a blanket.
- Finally, Hollin Hebbradan is the brother of a local pleasure girl named Ralla. He likes to whiddle and the party collected a toy horse from his older sister's shack.
