Bounty: Zabrask
General Summary
Though haunted by Taiella and cursed by his name, Grud joined a party of bounty-hunters to pursue and destroy the undead winterwight known as Zabrask. A well-researched fully-outfitted company (special thanks to Arel) might do the trick this time after the last defeat. Unknown but not unexpected, Zabrask and his minions were preparing as well.
The party used discern location to find the new resting place of the colossal necrocraft containing the gate to Zabrask's demiplane and found it had moved into Abkheset territory near Kishdanhar. They found the place far from deserted (pun intended), apparently guarded by several dwarf corpses propped up on poles around a stone altar. The corpses gave off no magical auras to Tiff and did not react when Grud threw an ax at them. Instead, their ghosts popped up out of the ground and attacked the party, their incorporeal eyes still bleeding black blood from when the soldiers were tortured. Realizing what they were, the party engaged their anti-ghost protocol and unleashed daylight and several mighty arrows at them, quickly defeating them with only a bit of damage, also healed by Tiff.
As the maw of the necro-worm drew up around them thanks to all the noise, Tiff and others recognized it for what it was: an undead mutation only created in a realm of necromantic energies--it was unique. Rico guarded their way out while several blows defeated the creature, leaving only its oozing gate behind, slowly shrinking into the sand. Recognizing this as their only chance, the party entered the obvious trap.
The winterwights cast cold attacks and when that didn't work, began to unleash dispelling magicks, but the party's defenses were too many. Nightfall imprisoned one of the zombie cavaliers within an icy box while Tiff and Vezra controlled the battlefield with walls and auras, and Grud and Meako killed everything inside. Finding the unhallowed place had been dimensionally anchored, Tiff Mordenkainen's Disjunction'd the whole godsdamned plane and the party teleported away to their respective realms. Tiff meanwhile turned in one of the winterwight's heads as proof of Zabrask's destruction, since the original had been disintegrated by one of her spells in the battle, to the Vizier Nasir al-Qurashi as one of her promised assassinations of Nihilus' Chosen.
